18 years since my high school graduation, 2005. Now I’m 36, married with 3 kids. Life is beautiful. Just like TSL and this album. If I could talk to my 18 year old self, I would say keep grinding, and continue guarding your heart, your love and life will be filled sooner than you think.

Convinced my parents to purchase this album upon its release from Best Buy when I was 14... As I matured early, growing up in a small town, this album perfectly encapsulated my "coming of age" angst. So glad they were able to do this reunion as it was a real treat! I agree with so many of you that this album is timeless, and I hope all the love TSL received from this will inspire them to do a nation wide tour... Much love to all those listening in 2024 and beyond🎉

Great composition, great arrangement, great storytelling, real and emotive, and connected to a time that was formative for so many people, one of the better groups to come out of that time period which is why they are still relevant and why their music is timeless for so many people.

I remember at Warped Tour 2005 in Cleveland, Kenny goes "Alright, so aside from like the Beatles and all that legendary shit... we wrote the greatest song of all time" and preceded to play 'Ready'. After their show, I went straight to the merch tent and bought BOATS. By far one of my all time favorite albums, and Ready still slaps to this day.

When this album came out me and all my friends had always been die hard starting line fans. But people didn’t like this album. It never made sense to me because its incredible. So many incredible songs and lyrics.
@smarroy Жыл бұрын
I think it was a little bit darker than the EP and first album, so there was a little bit of a Pinkerton-esque backlash among some of the fans who were looking to hear more of the same, and even though I did love it when it came out I remember thinking concept albums in general were pretentious and kinda douche-y, and I lumped this album in with those. But it's objectively great, one of the small handful of pop-punk albums from that era that doesn't really sound dated at all

This is the distance between point A and point B The self-completion meeting the goal we've exceed And it's the best thing to ever enter my life After all this time, I'm still taken by surprise Every time that a stranger calls my name For a picture to take, it happens every day Will there be a picture left to snap Or will my face just detach itself And get caught up in the public eye? Let it take mine It feels just like It feels just like making love to the camera It feels just like It feels just like making love, making love If what goes on here doesn't stay in this room We're gonna spread the word to leaving room to grow And if we blossom trees I swear I'll still be the same as I was as a seed And if these branches hold a leaf They'll hold convictions I believe This is the beginning of something Too strong to break now It feels just like It feels just like making love to the camera It feels just like It feels just like making love, making love It felt just like It felt just like making love to the camera It felt just like It felt just like making love, making love

Although that producer’s story was short, it really hit home. I’ve heard TSL talk about their awful experience with labels, and back in my younger years (and around the same time) I had a band that went through similar shit. We made an album we were proud of, great producer… But right at the finish line (pun intended) the record label came in and changed a million things… They couldn’t even make any criticisms on the album without mentioning the commercial successes at the time. “It should be more like fall out boy” or “it should be more like panic at the disco.” They just wanted to shape the album to be another cash grab for what was trending, that’s it. And obviously that wasn’t a shocker to us, but it put so much pressure on everyone involved to a point where we just started to resent the project, and shortly after everything fell apart. Obviously TSL survived and is probably better for it, because IMO, every album got better and better. Maybe the older albums have more nostalgia… But I think their albums got more mature and sophisticated as their fan base grew up, which IMO is much harder to do. That’s why I don’t care to listen to bands like Blink182 anymore… The new stuff just sounds like they’re trying to hold onto their youth. Maybe that’s cool for some diehard fans, but I struggle with 50 year olds singing about girls at the punk rock show. TSL/Kenny on the other hand was already writing about their on going experiences one album after it happened. It’s that maturity that makes me come back to these albums, not just the nostalgia. And Kenny seemed to know what we would want better than we did. Songs like “somebody’s gonna miss us” literally talk about how he wasn’t going to keep writing the same stuff over and over, and we will appreciate “the new direction” sooner than later. And he was right.

Take another hundred names and put 'em on a list And curse yourself forever watching it I'm looking to have to see it to the end 'cause the fastest rat is always gonna win You've gotta know to hustle to make it in this town 'cause competition stiffens every night Take another hundred and put 'em in your hand Present the prize and not the ambulance You've got a certain spar You've got to show it off What are you waiting for? They've been expecting you I've got the brightest spar So nothing blow it out What are you waiting for? They've been expecting your call She walks on red carpet all the time In my eyes Others will stop at her clothes Coming up they will talk, let 'em talk Because you've given them just what they want Harder than a drama Softer than a porn Oh come and fill the purse a little more You've got something special Put it on the air Humiliation pays well by the chair You've got a certain spar You've got to show it off What are you waiting for? They've been expecting you What are you waiting for? They've been expecting your call She walks on red carpet all the time In my eyes Others will stop at her clothes Coming up they will talk, let 'em talk Because she's given them just what they want Given them just what they want Yeah, you've given them just what they want He'll do most anything You'll do most anything for the camera A meal for a wedding ring A bow for embarrassing yourself Keep that camera rolling, baby What are you waiting for? 'cause we've been waiting for you Oh, what are you waiting for? They've been expecting your call She walks on red carpet all the time In my eyes, in my eyes Others will stop at her clothes Coming up they will talk, let 'em talk Because you've given them just what they want

"Hey there love, let's get to catching up. 'Cause I been thinking those thoughts that must have slipped my mind that time that I left you there that night." I replied, "Let me remind you of the guy you failed to mention all along. 'Cause your actions have consequences and these are them." I'll be your friend in hell, until then I despise you. And I probably always will. I can't afford to make another mistake like this, 'Cause this is more than I can take. I don't mean to leave angry, this is by your own devise. I'm sure this comes as no surprise. Hey there babe, don't mean to cut you off, but I've heard enough lies and you're dying to get caught. I'll let you go call all your friends. "Oh my god! Let me describe to you this guy, his name is Ken, he's in this band that writes such, awful songs about me all the time." You're goddamn right! I'll be your friend in hell, until then I despise you. And I probably always will. I can't afford to make another mistake like this, 'Cause this is more than I can take. I don't mean to leave angry, this is by your own devise. I'm sure this comes as no surprise. Fine, just let me lie here for a while, 'Cause I'll be staying up, yeah hanging up all night. Oh, I'm spent with all intentions (of your bit?). To a hopeless case, to a sharp headache, to a choice you make To the reason why I, to the reason why I say. I'll be your friend in hell, until then I despise you. And I probably always will. I can't afford to make another mistake like you. I'm sure this comes as no surprise. I'm sure this comes as no surprise. Surprise, surprise.
