Glad you brought up the weight relieving thing. As guitarists we aren’t entitled to play old trees. My 10lbs standard plays great with a thick strap. Weight relief does absolutely nothing to tone, if Les Pauls hurt your back then luckily Gibson has made tons of weight relieved guitars that almost none of its stubborn fans like (for no reason but to not just like something).

Lee is right that it is the same price as an S2 McCarty 594 (which is the same nitro finish btw and is far from the cheapest S2) so in that aspect it is reasonably priced, but the problem is the Studio model was always such a good value and it simply isn’t anymore at that price. And honestly I’d always go the PRS S2 anyway but that’s just me!

£1900 but a standard on most websites right now because of Black Friday (which lasts for what feels like ever) are £1999…. Even at the inflated price for £2300 (on average) you would just save the £300/£400 and get a standard. I have studio from 1996 i love it and its been gigged and played constantly from when its was handed down to me from my dad when i was 16yrs old, thinner than a standard but apart from the Nashville bridge instead of an ABR1 its got the same pups and everything else a standard has (i also own a standard). It’s a great guitar I’m sure but when you’re pricing it so close to a standard it almost becomes irrelevant. Make a £1300 studio and a £2300 standard so the market is there for both ends of the scale. That’s just my opinion

These look like a good attempt by Gibson to produce a nice LP for less money. Maybe to compete with PRS S2 line. I don't know if you need the split, series and bridge full on switches on a LP. You have 2 volume and 2 tone switches to give you a big variety of sounds. You can get a ton of tones in the middle position using the controls to blend the sound.

@biferose1589 сағат бұрын
@@matthewtyler-jones8317yes they have. The guitar market is stagnating post pandemic, used prices are plummeting and the market for gibson is shrinking. They obviously dont care about this product. It’s a halo product to create a value comparison for their more expensive models - they want to move out of the 1k market entirely and position epiphone as a mid to high end brand. Allowing them to keep overcharging for the whale market. If there was good value options around 1k they would struggle to keep the justification for their margins. This is a stopgap solution for their business. I don’t think they know how to position properly for the shrinking long term audience which were raised on gibson hate by youtube.

Alllllllll the typical whining about the price... Which in 2025 dollars is a bit high but not crazy high, because these guitars are pretty loaded! They're anything but a stripped down guitar.... Coil Taps, access neck heel, AAA flame maple top, Classic 57 pickups, Ebony Fretboard and modern weight relief. So... In reality they're pretty damn LOADED guitars except they don't have binding on the top... A look that I actually kind of like!

Ebony fretboard, coil taps, access heel and weight relief? Hardly premium appointments seeing as they are available on mid to upper-mid Epiphones and doezens of other sub-1k guitars.
