Today we are reviewing Albion Online, a sandbox MMORPG (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Game) developed by Sandbox Interactive. This is a rly scary moment of new players in Albion i know that. but as a player with 5 years of experience i can say its not that hard. Its just a phrase but in this game is the journey the goal. you can buy Premium with Silver and Gold what means you can farm your premium, You need to work for it, like in real life. and on the other side, the ppl who play albion just paying for gold are those who buy your stuff, what you looted and what you crafted. They are part of the system what makes albion so Great, you will never find a game with such a fun and perfect marketsystem. Every single Armor, Weapon and many more is done buy ppl. even the Loot out of chests or mobs are giving out from the system after a player is selling it at the black market. Its rly huge if you get used to it, after a while there is the feeling of "I want more, I want to get better". And after you get a good cashflow and passed the fear of loosing your GEar on Pvp, the real fun begins ! and all this is possible without any real money. Get an experienced player/guild let them show you how to start proberly and you r good to go! hope i could help !

i just did my first mist pvp run with my 2mil worth of gear for the past months i just been saving all my silver for premiun and now that i have my island where i have t5 buildings for crafting my own weapons and refining i no longer feel that fear of losing a prgress and yea it is fun to finally get over that fear

The main problem I have with buying gold, is that people with gold can have more fun more often. For example, I have to be really careful when I go and do black dungeons, faction warfare, farming, corrupted dungeons etc. Because if I lose my gear, I have to grind to get new ones. While someone with lots of money can skip the grinding and just do the fun stuff over and over, because if they lose their gear (or need to repair it), no problem. Pay for it and give it another go right away. And since the pay-to-win guys do more PvP stuff, they get more practise at it, and therefore gets better at it.

​@@LeviGarena is balanced and free, AND you get tombs for losing and winning which you can use on whatever you want. ALSO, when you farm your own gear and get ganked, your adrenaline is pumping, heart racing, all that. That excitement is robbed from people who know they can just use an unlimited amount of sets if they die. The best Crystal weapons in the game can't be purchased via gold, so that's also another point. There are plenty of studies in psychology that show earning your own gear is much more rewarding than having it gifted or purchased. There are entirely DIFFERENT studies that show the amount of dopamine when risk is higher. It's why betting is exciting. If you won 1 million dollars from a random person saying "if I successfully land a shot through this basketball hoop" and does, do you think that would be the same as if YOU were in control of that shot? If you landed that shot, the feeling is exponential. Furthermore, if you lost 1 million dollars if you missed that shot, but STILL managed to make it, would you not feel even more excitement and dopamine? Your brain only cares about the highest high of gratification, it's not so much concerned about the disappointment of losing as it's NOT getting the gratification of winning. It sounds the same but it's not.

imo, as a player that never spent a penny on the game, gold/silver system is not a problem. the loop is "gearing up, use it to participate in a content in the game, profit or learn, inevitably lose your gear, repeat" its not like in other mmo loop "get to max level, get best in slot, stomp the content, wait for dlc"

11:55 You are not supposed to craft every item you want to use, you can simply buy it from the market. The good thing about this game is that you get to choose your specialty. Some are crafters, some are refiners, some are cooks, some are farmers. some are gatherers, etc... and it takes a lot of time to be able to master one specialty. So it should really be a far-sighted goal, rather than now, because it's simply impossible. Even crafters are specialized in one line (for example bows or leather armors) and not everything. For now, buying from the market should do, and then in the future you can decide which specialty to pursue.

the game is pay to skip grind, not pay to win fights. this game require a significant amount of skill, if you as a noob spent all your money on best gear and game books and max spec, you would die very quickly in any lethal content, then you would repeat and keep paying sandbox interactive's wages. And the silver of the playerbase. Game knowledge and mechanics are very important, there are builds and playstyles that can easily kill a higher item power builds if that player is not careful. in an even 1v1, the player with the better timing, skillshot accuracy, orb-walking and reactions will win. if you are a noob, you will have none of these the only mechanic that is currently considered pay to win is the awakened weapons system, or to some extent yellow zone faction warfare, but if you dont play well, you will still lose silver to repair costs

You are being dramatic. You have to define "win" before you decide if this game is p2w or not. I'll break it down for you. 1. Premium gives you huge benefits not gonna lie, but having it accessible through in-game grind simply destroys any claims of it being p2w. Look at it as a simple grindy aspect of the game, another goal to achieve every month. I have been playing this game since 2019, and I have never bought premium with real cash, always with in-game silver. 2. I'm not really in favor of selling gold with real money, but does it really hurt the game? not at all. Yes it creates a fast lane for players, but that's it. The tome of insight you talked about gives 10k fame each. 1 hour of grinding in the black zone gives you "favor points" which can be exchanged with books that give 200k fame, let alone the amount of tomes you'd be dropping from mobs. So gold doesn't really give players an advantage over others. 3. I have been using the gold market to further grow my silver. I simply buy gold when it's cheap, and sell it when it's expensive and it has made me a few millions. 4. Gold cannot buy experience and skills. In order to master a playing style, you need to grind and join lots of content. If you are going to skip that and jump straight to action, all you'd be doing is giving people free loot because you gonna lose it in a blink of an eye. I used to play games that are considered p2w, which are far worse than this one. Yes you can progress faster if you swipe your card, but free-players can still compete with you easily without needing to spend a dime. Being experienced in this game is what I'd call "win". So in my opinion, this game is not p2w at all.

to all the new players joining the game. DO NOT JOIN ANY GUILD until you understand 10% of the game. because there are guilds who charge taxes which will take certain % of your silver from monster drops and give it to the guild. its called newbie silver farming guild. so stay away from joining guild for new players.

about the p2w: yes, the premium is a MUST if you are looking to progress and spec up more weapons but just the focus points that the premium status gives alone pays for itself so, just grind out that 18m silver which can even be done in 3days (search youtube). And about the gold market, yes you can buy silver with the gold but 1-it is expensive to do so you are better off playing the game honestly, and 2- most importantly if you are buying silver with gold you have no idea what you are doing and we will snatch those items from you gladly.

They didn’t make it more difficult. KZbinrs recommended players cash out to gold when taking a break from the game, so the price of gold went up. When premium got up to 40m silver a month, the devs added an extra fee when buying gold with silver in order to discourage this practice. In turn, the price of gold dropped, which was their intention. So they did manipulate the player based economy, but it was to make premium cheaper, not more expensive.

It's still easy because you make more silver now as well. Also the focus from your premium can pay all or a large sum of premium. I just use crop farms and it pays for 1/3 my premium, the other 2/3 can be farmed in 3-4 days in safezones or black zone gathering. People are just lazy.

@@Despond This. With high spec in pve, gathering or crafting, you will never not be able to pay for premium with in game silver. Noobs just don't wanna put in the work to get there and quit after making 300k/hr in yellow/blue zones while speccing up.

In a way Albion is not pay to win its pay to lose because sure you can buy the best gear in the game but if you get caught in a black zone at the wrong time all your gear is gone

Albion is definitely pay to win since you could just buy everything to the top level, but if you were to grind to the top level, the pay to win player would have absolutely zero advantage in a PvP or even PvE environment. The grind to top level gear is quite a few hours, but if you are focusing on one or two sets you could reach that reasonably within 20-50 hours, which from there a paying player will never have an advantage. Although, with the risk management of this game, it is most silver efficient to adventure into PvP zones for their higher rewards in tier 6-8, so youd rarely see those in maxed out gear. So in practice, the pay to win aspect has very little effect. And the baseline requirement of skill in this game is extremely important, so any new player with maxed out gear would likely lose to a veteran 2-3 tiers lower than them. Once you can afford the top level gear, silver doesn't matter nearly as much, its more of a source of pure dopamine seeing it go up after PvP fights, or legendary chests.

I just think Albion should have more Pve aspects. I know many many people enjoy pvp in this game, but i dont enjoy it at all. It has such an epic progression tree, gathering, crafting. But its missing those epic pve moments

I don't want to downplay your concern about those tomes, but each tome is the equivalent of about 1 or 2 black zone mob kills. Unless you were made of gold and didn't want to play the game, tomes are pointless.

Yes you are dramatic. The game is what I call pay to lose. Here is how. New player spends lot of money, levels character, buys best gear in game for maybe $100s of dollars. Dies and loses it ALL to experienced players. You tell me did they pay to win or pay to lose? No such thing as pay to win in full loot game period. Been playing this game since early alpha, bought a founders pack way bake then (mainly to get into the alpha) and have never spent another dime. It is a great game I highly recommend it.

@@TheMMOBam yo i have 2k hours in this game and from experience i can say that this game is everything except pay2win, basically the whole game is run on the lethal side the black zone, where upon dying you lose all your equipped gear. You can swipe for fame and gear ofc but the only thing that you are to other ppl in pvp is a walking money bag as you simply do not posses the skills. Also you talked about buying fame and gear but you never calculated the price. Fyi buying the highest tier gear in the game 8.4mp or just even 8.3 a full sets requires you to spent many 100$ of euros, for 8.4 masterpiece even thousands. And its even worse with as the books only provide very little fame. Ppl that fame up using books are the true fools. Another aspect that you are missing out is that there always is a bigger fish. a high tier guy is gonna shit a lower tier guy in the black zone, sure but what is he gonna do about 5-20 guys or even 100+ which are frequently roaming albions other continent. 2K hours here too...this game has so many layers of learning it. Spend the money...do you know your kit? Do you understand it? The rotation of it? The hard counters to it you'll encounter in open world? Do you know what a "bait fight" looks like? How about escaping the gank?...and this is only a FRACTION of the game.

Dont touch learning point on armor or weapons, or 99% of the skill tree. You put that shet on gathering tools if you want to be a gatherer. But if you dont care, go right ahead but be still be careful, the closer you are to leveling a specialisation, the lower the learning point cost.

In the Mist, I often encounter players equipped with overpowered 8.4 gear with awakened abilities, making it nearly impossible to compete. Hellgate battles are repetitive, with the same builds being used repeatedly, and even if you win, the loot is often disappointing. Corrupted dungeons are heavily influenced by the meta, and deviating from it usually results in losing in the long run. I think albion was just a bad match for you. I am a solo player, and ive been playing for a long time. A main part of albion is the freedom in it. If you want to go in the highest tier sets, you can do that. if you want to roam in groups of 50, you can do that. In the end a solo player can earn silver, engage in PvP, play in the open world, gather, do static dungeons, do whatever they want to. However, there will always be advantages to being in groups, PvE is hard to keep fresh, even though I have well over 500 hours, I still dont find it totally boring though, and you will never be a top level crafter without a guild, but I still manage to do all of the above aspects, and have fun doing it. If you can't have fun with albion, its just not the game for you.

I didn't even touch upon the abysmal tutorial and the daunting experience it offers newcomers. Oh, you're new and want to progress? Here's a brief premium trial, but if you can't make significant headway in those three days, well, tough luck. But of course, you can always pay for it, right? Yet, it takes an extensive 15 hours of grinding just to afford it, a luxury most people simply don't have time for. You're entitled to enjoy the game, and I'm entitled to criticize its flaws. My intention in writing this is to shed light on the negative aspects so that others can make informed decisions. If, despite these flaws, they still choose to delve into Albion, then they are certainly welcome to do so.

I do want to thank you for the very informative video. I had a friend suggest this game to me and I hadn't looked into it till now. I might give it a try. But I'm very happy I found your video, and again I wanna thank you very much for your research and time you put in! Now, just an extra comment on the game itself... As amazing as the game looks and all the different character class combos you can make. You can switch your role whenever you'd like without having to make a new character. The player driven economy. I really do love how all that sounds. Though I don't think that your concerns on the MASSIVE red flag of the game are misplaced. It's really disheartening to hear that you can literally just fly right through the game without really have to put very much effort in at all. Kinda renders the idea of the game pointless to me in my opinion. Similar to how I felt about the GTA money glitch. If I just glitch to get all the money I ever need, all the vehicles and guns I could ever want. etc. What's left to do... I felt totally lost. Hence why I made a new character and forgot about the old one. And I feel it's pretty similar only there's no money glitch. You just put in some cash and boom. You're set. (I guess you could just do that on GTA as well, but I feel like you'd be spending a hell of a lot more money on that game.)

I always thought of this game as pay for a head start. Its really helpful to buy a sub and some gold when you first start, but even in a medium sized guild, you wont need to pay anything after a while. That is before awakened weapons that got introduced after i stopped playing, seems there's whales throwing money at them making it more pay to win.

Becouse me as free player (solo), can get easy silver from new player that use credit card to buy Gucci gear and think they are invisible.
