The state of Crunchyroll in 2023

Is Crunchyroll still worth it in 2023? This is my personal take on Crunchyroll's current state and all the problems I found within the 6 months I've been using it.
I've divided the video into sections adressing each problem I faced. Feel free to share you personal experiences with the service or any fixes/alternatives to the issues presented.

A big problem i have with crunchyroll is the subtitles not sync like it will say the same sentence for like 3 sentences in a row and the more i rewind it to fix it the more it happens

In several anime, I've noticed that the English CC subtitles are not available.

Crunchyroll isn’t great..: Funimation was 100% better there interface was so clean and they made content available super fadt

I preferred Funimation when they were still up since they do not have huge strict paywall as Chrunchyroll plus when Funianimation when a new episode was gonna come out they put it behind paywall for a bit until it became free and repeat

This accurate in many countries, and as mentioned, varies between regions, so take this with a grain of salt if you live in America or The United Kingdom

Incomplete show catalogues is my one big complaint about the service. Other than that I’m actually quite happy with the service. It runs fairly well, works well with VPNs, and with that VPN let’s me access almost any show (And even without VPN it still houses the by far largest catalogue in my countryj

Downloading instead of streaming is bizarre. Years ago I had okay experiences with the free with ads option.

I only download in certain situations such as in plane trips or whenever i don't have mobile data. The free plan didn't have one piece in Portugal :c

Maybe they did, it's not unusual for streaming services to cycle content so they pay less royalties

being in the US I haven't had much of these issues but seeing they messed with one peice I might just have to end my subscription there. That's one show you don't mess with for me at least. But it sucks to see that every single anime steaming service that is legal lacks at so many things and barely try to improve. Not to mention how dumb licensing works for exclusivity.

Even in the US, I wasn’t a fan of the service either. Agree with the video take, it’s good enough for many who just want to stay up to date, but there were so many minor issues that bothered me. It got to a point where I didn’t care for the service anymore. It wasn’t worth paying for. It’s been a long time since then, since before the pandemic even, but the problem I most remember was the app crashing on the weekends. I couldn’t watch the show I wanted. It would usually happen with the most popular ones. I just preferred other services and actually CR skews towards the newest anime coming out and I watch a lot of already finished shows. It just wasn’t my type of service.

Go to the viedo player and tap it and then audio then English if want it stick on that on default then go into the app on mobile then you pfp then audio language then choose English

Im from latin america and despite not being a anime fan i first paid for it because i wanted to see dragon ball super since i saw characters i didnt saw before, i saw the selection and i watched jojo huge jojo fan now, and im just watching Caballeros del Zodiaco (Knights of the zodiac) in regards of content has at least in my region bunch of anime movies including all db movies including super hero J dramas and tons of stuff i dont watch (all anime lol) Mostly kept it becase i shared my account with my brother which gave me his HBO max, Disney and prime account and id feel so cheap cancelling my account given the fact that my bro gave me all this stuff lol.

Crunchyroll does not have the master license to "one peace" or any Toei animation animation shows. It's the same with aniplex titles. They are both sub license. The reason demon slayer the first season it's not there is because this was before sony bought crunchyroll and aniplex must have licensed it to another streaming site such as Netflix.

Attack on titan isn't complete on crunchyroll sadly... I'm my region you can only watch from S2 onwards.

In the United States, we now have the choice to skip the introductory parts and recap. And this is rarely an issue because they usually provide the complete seasons. so crunchyrolls decent in the US

Crunchyroll is also bad with dubbing, I have found a few animes which are dubbed in strange languages. I tried to watch one anime I was looking for for ages and it was in fucking french. I don't speak baguette. What streaming platforms *do* you recommend?

@@Beruno_16u can use a vpn i suggest windscribe but since the free version has limited data just use it while opening the app then turn it off when ur actually watching thats how i watch the shows that arent available in my country
