This expansion has shown me how important the often criticized relics of Bozja and eureka are because I've NEVER felt a content draught like this Take note that I in fact do have every relic from both zones as well as savage completion and with relics being this passive thing I have to just buy after having done whatever else I'm doing and already done with the only thing I really have to do (I have maxed jobs) is pray golbez drops a mount

I think this has been a healthcare expansion for a lack of better terms improving the old stuff and introducing new concepts and trying to innovate on what they got to mixed success. I think they need to nail the next expansions endgame based on what they did right and wrong over the last 3 expansions time will tell but feel the next endgame need fewer compromises. -Variant Dungeons while underbaked has huge potential in liberal dungeon design without having to take friction of speedrunning tomestone hunters into account allowing potentially things like traps and puzzles as standard dungeons gets more and more standarized due to the meta it's a great idea I hope they dare to innovate more on next expansion imagine a proper temple dungeon with pits to fall into, rolling balls, complex puzzles and so on they can port over old retired ideas from older MMO dungeon content and give it a fresh lease of life. -MSQ changes polishing up the main flaws of dungeons, msq roulette and 2 of the most notoriously bad fights Cape Westwind and Steps of Faith and giving Duty Support to all MSQ dungeons. -PvP while controversial the changes has overall increased the active player numbers in the category and updates to content, balance and rewards have been strong enough while I personally benefit from no team queues I understand the appeal and hope the audience is served. -Relics while I think is the biggest flaw this expansion I think this system is worth retaining as a casual catchup process seperate from the relic. Like a simple stat stick upgrade system for the artifact weapon released later than the relic let's say two monthes without some advantages the relic have like no materia slots, no stat customization, no vfx, same ilvl as augmented tome rather than bis in the end. Just tomesink of a weapon for the uber casual relic will still retain it's appeal being the shiny stick like legacy relics still do with the promise of short term being bis as well. -Deep Dungeon Orthos has shown what not to do with a Deep Dungeon and that with it's design less is more 4 player group found it too hard and solo players too easy. I think the attempt was a worthwhile one but hope they don't repeat it. -Island Sanctuary also quite undercooked but assuming they give some space to decorate, increase the player capacity to at least 48 and implement more activities and quality of life particularly looking at pasture and gardening they got something solid. -Post MSQ this is just a theory but firmly believe 6.x will be repurposed as an alternative starting experience for new players and I think if it's done well would be huge for onboarding allowing for new players who fear the 200-300 hour journey to endgame to give the game try while still allowing experiencing everything though new game+ if they change their mind. As a veteran however just on the quality of the story will reserve my judgement til it's story is wrapped up will say I rate it higher than some mid and post ARR and SB MSQ but not a high bar and they can do a lot better, however what's the outcome? will 6.5x have lingering effects on the story or will it simply wrap up as more confined type of event like a side story? time will tell and I think a lot of us will think considerably less of it if it's the latter. -Side Stories This expansion has been the perfect side story expansion all the raids, tribal quests been on point, Hildibrand, Tataru quests been neat, Beyond the rift and four fiend side quests was great too. As someone who enjoy that kinda stuff more than anything else this has been by far the best expansion in that aspect and I think having these have shifted up the format quite a bit the only thing I want to really knock on is the weak wrap-up for the role quests that stuff. 7.x will be interesting if they manage to apply what worked and didn't I think they could achieved the best post game yet, already resigned for a slow .0 story however I'm sure it will be decent like maybe their 4th best .0 story the foundations simply ain't there so they got a ton of that to cover in the story so probably gonna be quite dry ARR style while hopefully the writers nailed down unlike Stormblood and not rushed unlike ARR I'm confident they can deliver something great just not at the insane levels of Heavensward, Shadowbringers and Endwalker. I think a lot of people judge 7.x too early American fanfest is the first one which omit tons of details even some of the obvious stuff is missing from the list and a good bit ain't announced during fanfest at all as some details ain't fully nail down until as late as .1/.2/.3 stuff like bozja got announced pretty late for example if memory serves like monthes after release even. So simply exercise common sense and buy the expansion if you feel it offer sufficient value and sub if you wanna sub if you feel unsatisfied express it to the devs and make them work for your coins.

The key to the issue here isn't the content in of itself. It's the time it takes to receive the content. It used to be just 2 month wait to get new content to play. Right now it is now a 3 month wait, that is a huge time difference, even though seeming minimal. It's a wait of an extra month before something new appears. To bring that into prospective for some people. In a year, it was averaging about 6 patches in a year of new content. Right now, it's 4 patches in a year. When the devs said they needed those 3 months for a reason, I knew myself what that meant, both the good and the bad of it. What I also feared happened as well, the majority of the community did not register what that meant until now. Though I understand that the community is upset at the moment, I am also kinda rolling my eyes because I saw this coming when the 3 month waiting period was announced.

Not sure I agree with that. FYI, it's always been 3 months per patch. You might be a misunderstanding something. Here's a link to the patch notes to confirm that na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/special/patchnote_log/ Anyway, I'm 90% sure that people aren't worried about patch updates being 3 months, since the "time" when patches are released has never been a problem for discussion. If someone does have a problem with that, they need to understand how game development works. I think its purely the reception of the content. When it comes to MMO's people tend to want to invest time in a game they're paying a subscription for. If you only played 8 hours of FF14 in a month because you either did all the content you wanted or don't like the content within, some would say you're wasting money on something you're not interested in. So I still believe it's the content.

@@SyncWeaver FINAL FANTASY XIV Letter from the Producer LIVE Part LXVIII. The 2 hour and 5 minute mark. Yoshi P going over how the cycle was before Endwalker and how it will be going forward. The cycle of patches was more frequent before Endwalker. Yes you are correct in saying it was also 3 months but it has been extended to 4 months or longer compared to before. You feel that time difference now then you did before since the patch cycles are factually longer now then they were before. I knew the good and bad of what was stated in the Live Letter and had a feeling people didn't understand how they would take it until now. So in part you are correct in your response that the cycle was three months. I am also correct in stating that the cycle is far longer now then it was in the past. We are starting to honestly feel that time difference now, well the community is now anyways.

No there's a definite difference in the amount of content. For example the trials, in every other expansion the trial bosses in post content were completely optional side content and had a very intriguing story of themselves. Heavensward with the trial bosses in Azys Lla with Unakalai, Stormblood with the auspices, Shadowbringers fighting the weapons and helping Gaius. No such additional Sidequest exists in Endwalker because they're all part of the post game MSQ. Couple this with the lack of any involving relic storyline like Eureka or Bozja (for all their flaws with timed raids and a tough grind for rank, they were still pretty good) there's a clear void of content that improved PvP in Frontline and CC isn't going to fill.

@@QuiteSpiffing There is a few things I'd like to point out. Eureka at launch is not the Eureka we have now. Just as important. The Jobs of Stormblood are not the Jobs we have now. Eureka was nerfed over the years to compensate for the dwindling numbers. Tanks had no where near the same soloing potential in Eureka as they do now. I remember trying and forcing myself to use Red Mage to both heal myself and do damage. With pulling 2 monsters at a time being nearly a death sentence. Those side content are only good now because of the nerfs/buffs they got post Stormblood. If they stayed as they were, no one would touch them. Same if the jobs were the same. Deep Dungeons jobs to "solo" it was only possible because of more recent changes. All the old content we love now is only loved because of the changes done to it after the contents initial release. It's also why "machinist" and "RedMage" are still said are the "best" for the dungeons when that isn't true anymore. It was true for years. Now relic at the moment is hot garbage but I said it like this. ARR and HW are equal top tier relic grinds. SB and ShB are not because they rely on side maps to be busy and healthy. Those areas interest die fast and getting relics from them takes far longer then ARR or HW relic grind. Tome grind is boring but far easier and healthier to do then to set a side area for it that needs people in it to be good grind. Give me ARR and HW type grinds and I'd be happy for that over a side area or tome grind.

@@stevenalvarez2924 wait so your argument to me pointing out missing side objectives/content is that jobs get reworked? -yeah, I know, also a complete non sequitur. Of course older content gets less and less appeal over time, this applies to everything and still does not make the point of missing side content invalid.

Yeah, it's really weird. I'm trying to remember what was so different about the post-game in Shadowbringers since I've played that for the entire time until Endwalker released but I can't really put my finger on it. In EW I became bored rather quickly so I took a break. And it's not that there's nothing there either. The island stuff was fun for a while, the Unreal trials kept me busy for a time, the new Deep Dungeon, the relics but it wasn't enough to keep me. Idk, it might me just me being burned out of the game though.

I agree with you on the thing about the Relics, mainly because i just cant be bothered to go through an incredibly long questline to then not even have anything special to do... m pretty much just gonna resub soon because i am the nutcase that signed up for decorating our FC house, which noone is gonna be in because people just do not really have a lot to do rn

It sucks that now people need to do an option side quest for a weapon that's supposed to be a players reward for doing the work. Call me crazy but even though I was annoyed with the grind for some of the weapons, I always cherished the relic I got after obtaining it. All that hard work and I got myself a shiny. I think players want to do something in 14 that matters to them. There are plenty of things to do but nothing too interesting for players to WANT to do those things. Like having a full fridge but not knowing what to eat.

I wonder if the development time of FFXVI had anything to do with the lack of stuff we normally get in FFXIV. It probably did. So hopefully with the next expansion, we don't have to worry about it anymore

EW is the PvP expansion, and I totally agree with CC being a team mode instead of solo queue.

I'm still not sure why they took it out. It WAS there when the feast was young. There was possibly a problem with it? But taking it out doesn't seem to be the right decision.

Its funny because when EW came out everyone was saying that this is the best expansion in FFXIV. I felt the opposite and this feeling only grew stonger as the patches came out until I finally chose to unsub after 8 years back in February. I always wondered what how everyone would feel after the honeymoon phase ended for. Im honestly happy to see so many people criticising the state of the game. I do miss FFXIV but there's literally nothing thats being offered now thats enticing me to come back. NA fanfest was kind of lackluster but I keep hoping 7.0 has SOMETHING that blows my socks off and makes me want to return to Eorzea.

that's funny, I never thought that Endwalker is the Best. imo how the MSQ of Endwalker went, I mean it's hard to follow Shadowbringers but Endwalker did how it had to. But the Gameplay Changes were really bad. Many may Joke about the Kaiten Removal but just remember that after the 6.1 Reception, they post-poned the DRG/AST Reworks and scheduled them back to 7.0.. I wonder why..

Wait huh? i dont think shb had more, like shb had the typical 2 raids then bozja and i think it introduced that faux leaves thing meanwhile endwalker has two raids, islands, 2 Ultimates, a new potd style, variant dungeons. It has more then shb had if i recall. Bozja was a shore to deal with, hated it. Found the story lackluster with no conlusion, grindfest galore the only fun part was the memes.

As a Samurai Main FFXIV has been dead to me since 6.1, but PvP has been the saving grace for the Samurai since 6.1 because since 6.1 PvP is the Last Bastion where the Samurai is allowed to be Fun. I'm just coasting along the MSQ, Look what I can get, engage in erp every now and then (since as Samurai Main, erp has better gameplay than PvE), doin some weeklies, Wonderous Tails, doin stuff on alts like the MSQ there.. Thanks to the Kaiten Removal I'm not even mad that the Endwalker Relic is so easy, since how am I supposed to grind for that? By Spamming Shinten like a B$%&#? No thank you, here have my 1,5k tomes. The Only thing that holds me to FFXIV are my Character Designs and Friends and that's it^^

I think the reason the game is this way currently is because FFXIV has been carrying Square Enix financially for a while now. So I think Square EnIx is just stealing funds "reallocating funds" to games that are terrible like the ones who have recently been shut down or bombed "not going to name any names cause it got my last post auto deleted by youtube..." So right now even though FFxiv is very financially successful, Square Enix is suffocating it and Yoshi-P can only save face for the camera...

I'd say the reason why FFXIV carries SE is because the majority of the Playerbase is happy.. but just you wait until every job gets a Kaiten Removal equivalent! Uh that be a Burnout!

Interesting. I honestly never would have thought of fund allocation. Maybe resource allocation since Yoshi P directed FF16. Hmm... I feel as though you may be on to something.

@@SyncWeaver Its definitely worth looking into but Square Enix has has a lot of failed games lately, from NFT to really bad games that have failed. FF16 didn't quite flop but not being available on PS4 really hurt it too
