A friend of mine took tiktok away from his pre teen, who was having concentration issues, and after a couple of weeks she was back to being able to sit down and spend time on only one thing at the time

Infinity Nikki is my first gacha game and have to say I love it and haven't had to spend any money at 60+ hrs! I was interested before i realised it was free to play at which point i was very sceptical and had low expectations but it seems like they put a lot of effort into the game and content and you only need to pay if you’re impatient or want an extra outfit/colour. Would be interested to hear your take on gacha as i do agree that microtransactions can be really bad for some people

i've catched myself wanting to grab my phone during a game cutscene that's not even that long several times, i have to remind myself to live in the moment and that being "bored" for moments is healthy for my oversaturated brain. I guess i have this thing of trying to take advantage of time but all i'm doing is providing reinforcement to my brain

My nan passed away 2 years and 6 months ago, it isn't hitting quite as hard, but I do still randomly cry. What you said about your step-dad was always first to text about earthquakes and stuff... I really relate. I got upset the other day because I had a gardening question, and my nan was a huge gardener and always helped me out. There's a lot of little things like that. She was the first person I have ever lost. I wish I spent more time with her. Sending you and your family love Alanah ❤💕

The main reason I'm not playing many games anymore is due to depression. I have a lot of games I'm so interested in playing and every time I sit down to play something I just get too depressed to actually play anything new and end up throwing on minecraft or rocket league or just watch a movie instead

I have a good heuristic for yt recommendations: any channel using woke non-ironically gets the "don't recommend channel" treatment, I still have to do it from time to time, especially when I watch videos from New to me channels those try to creep in

Yeah, I've been doing that for a while. I'd like to think that Steam group list of 'woke' games will help people move on that from culture-war hysteria, at least in gaming, as the list and the justifications are hilarious - proving they still can't really figure out what 'woke' actually is, or why it's supposed to be bad. But the US has Trump again, sooo... My YT feed is pretty darn good now, though.

Same. I immediately avoid that channel at all costs. It means they are all caught in some political scapegoat rage game, people use to manipulate and profit on, and I won’t have any of that. I will watch people talk about games. But if they make it a thing that is constantly talking about entertainment as “culture wars”, I realize they don’t have anything good to bring to the table. Talk about the positive and negatives about a game without claiming “woke” or “DEI” names about it. It’s absolutely the laziest journalism and doesn’t contribute anything positive to the industry. Heck, my thing about Assassin’s Creed, in general, is that it hasn’t truly excited me since Black Flag. Since it really mixed up the formula by adding Sid Meier’s Pirates stuff on top of the Assassin’s Creed formula. And without such an amazing mix to add to the formula, it seems more bland to me.

Once you get your algorithm going on KZbin I do have to say it’s a lot better about pushing things to you that you would actually like rather than all the hate. Takes a lot of using the “I don’t want to see this” function though.

Not all publishers can have a Fortnite level of success. There is only so much time people have to spend on games/social media/movies/etc. That's why the live service game race is such an expensive gamble. Majority of the attempts will fail. And so far the successes have surprised industry leaders so I don't think they know what makes a live service game become so successful and STAY so successful.

Love Ubisoft games. Avatar was awesome, just like Far Cry. Outlaws is such a good game I still can't believe people bash it. All games have a formula, and Ubisoft gives so many options to tailor their games towards how you wanna play them - you can swich off map markers and use map features - you can change so many accessibility options. People are just sad and jaded and need someone to bully and Ubisoft is it.

Outlaws is one of the best stealth games I've played in recent years. I played it 100% stealth, except fro scripted combat parts. It's not meant to be played as an action shooter, that's why the combat is difficult. They had to bully them to make the combat easier... Same thing happening with Shadows. Everyone I've seen are saying the female shinobi doesn't play well and they prefer Yasuke. Of course they would prefer the one who bashes through everything. Why spend time in actually learning to play stealth... As for the "same game" argument, I guess From Soft is the worst studio, since they're making the same game since Demon Souls...

@@Cotsos88 Yeah, and the fact is that a sequel needs to be similar to the previous games. People always complain about games not being "different" enough but then when they are (like the RPG AC change), they complain that it's not AC. Ridiculous.

Re: Ubisoft fatigue, it’s a type of game that sometimes you want. Brain off, go to map marker, figure out how to sneak around and kill people. It’s fun. Sometimes you’re not in the mood for souls combat or hunting for clues for what to do next.

Re: Gacha games. You are right to NOT make a video about them if you haven’t played them. While some are worse than others they are no more predatory than all the EA Sports games, for example. It’s a complex topic and I’d love to hear your insight, but you HAVE to experience them first before having a rounded take, else you are just spreading more misinformation not facts. That’s what too many KZbinrs already do, don’t fall into the trap.
