I've watched your coverage for Glyos for YEARS and I've always wanted one. I was excited to see in this vid that Onell had a couple iconic designs actually IN-STOCK on their site, so I went ahead and ordered a couple! I'd love to see this toy system grow and continue, and I'm happy I'll finally have a little slice of it!

Appreciate you sharing your thoughts, TJ, great vid. I'm gonna toss my two cents here as well, as a collector who's been at this whole Glyos thing for almost 6 years now. It's definitely a weird, weird time for Glyos. It's weird everywhere right now, honestly. Mainstream toylines are taking some serious shipping and other logistics hits, as well as QC, PR, and general fandom troubles, so I honestly can't imagine Glyos not doing so as well, given it is, whether some folks wanna admit it or not, a small indie outfit. And one that's trying to stay afloat amid a global pandemic. I too have been disheartened by the slower and smaller release schedules (especially with Onell: gimme more Sincroborgs and Delphi please!) but I don't think that this toyline is anywhere near done. Just taking a brief rest, and a deserved one from Onell, given all that Matt and co. have been through this last year. I empathize with you on the fact that unified colorway drops are becoming more and more rare, and yea, for folks that love building and mashing up the same colorway it has definitely taken the wind of their sails. Losing Roboforce hurt too, especially just as the new Mechabon bots starting to roll out, oof. I've also seen folks a bit disheartened by the substantial amount of homages/homage colorways as of late and how they might "limit" builds, mashups, and customs. People definitely have some concerns, and they're valid. That being said, I honestly don't mind producers going their own way and doing their own thing: some of those things might not be MY thing, but they're clearly having fun and great stuff has come out of it. People really enjoyed the Justice League homages and Mighty Maniax has a ton of people enamored with theirs. I think what we're seeing here is a crossroads, a short pitstop, perhaps a slight turn away from the unified, building focus of some of the earlier Glyos stuff to more independent, personally-driven figures, at least for the short term. I think that might seem so ubiquitous and overwhelming on the toyline/system as a whole right now because waves and drops have been so delayed and because there are so many less a year now than there were prior. But I don't think it's forever, or what Glyos will inevitably become. Basically, what I'm saying it that yea, stuff's slow and different in the realm of Glyos right now, and for a lot of fans that's jarring and uncomfortable, but I've seen just as many new, happy faces entering the community and trying these figures out as there folks being filled with despair. Basically, I think we're in a bit of lull, like a lot of other toylines right now, and we'll see things pick up again sometime in the future. I think new stuff is being tried out and we'll see what sticks. Old fans like you and I are definitely out of our element these days (god I miss Outlanders SO MUCH) but I think there's still a great lot to come, and the ship is chugging along slow and steady for now, captain at the helm or no. Try not to worry too much or let negativity in the community get to ya' too much: toy nerds will always find something to complain about. It's basically tradition at this point, lol. Anyways, thanks for sharing your thoughts, and complete side-tangent but I'm glad folks are so pleased with the Carebears waves from Cappy. Some of my favorite Glyos stuff, period.

I just recently, (Like within this year), started watching you TGO, because I was digging into my old Transformers collection and love your demeanor, and how all around your guides and explanations are of my favorite figures~ And then I saw this video pop on your channel, was curious enough to give it a watch, which lead me down the Glyos rabbit-hole, and now I'm hooked! Just today I got my first Glyos in the mail after waiting a couple of days in anticipation~ Which was Sincroborg Avessor, and a matching Axis joint set, and I've spent the past couple of hours making my fingers hurt trying out different combinations and having an overall blast experimenting! Glad to officially (Atleast in my eyes) be a part of the Glyos community now, thanks to you~ (Also don't mind the tildes ~ old habit lol)

It's basically a joint system used by a bunch of smaller toy makers. They're all meant to be compatible where you can snap parts together to build figures with parts and accessories from all across different lines.

Don't see why they couldn't still use the molds. So long as they don't use the color scheme or names of Roboforce I'd think they'd be fine. I mean look at third party Transformers. Tge only thing they aren't using is a name and logo.

The deal to buy RoboForce included all assets, including the molds that were designed as and released as official RoboForce toys. It's not a 3rd party situation, especially when Toyfinity sold the rights to RoboForce to the new company themselves, it would be massively illegal for them to continue releasing them in any format.

@@TJOmega the thing with Glyos Robo Force toys is the only things that make those 3 different figures Robo Force are the heads, and the heads can very easily be swapped out at the factory level for different heads. Do you remember the Bean Bot from the earlier days of Onell? The Onell crew retained the molds for that and removed two parts (the Bean Bot's actual head & a larger torso) and added a new head and midsection piece. That turned it into a "Phaseon Gendrone" which then had nothing to do with Bean Town Toys anymore. My theory is that we'll see that 2013 Maxx Zero kit back at some point but just with the Hun-Dred, Sentinel, Enemy and Maxx ZERO heads replaced with something else. The sale of Robo Force _did not_ include The Zeroids so that mold isn't part of the IP acquisition and that Zetonian/Mechabon figure was also designed to _resemble_ the old Robo Force figures when configured in a certain way, so I doubt that kit is also gone forever either.

My only real problem with Glyos right now is that with the less consistent release schedule they’re still relying on the same short notice for releases. I need a little more heads up so I can hopefully catch it.

Toy Pizza's still doing good. They successfully funded a new Kickstarter this year. I really love their 4 inch figures. I just wish they'd bring back the device ninja mold.

I think TJ needs to dial back the gloom and doom quite a bit. Instead of rampant speculation, jumping to conclusions (and other things that pass for toy news) maybe he should do some due diligence before he prematurely buries Onell Design. Nothing in this report indicates that TJ talked to Matt and /or asked him about the state of Glyos before releasing this "report" on The State of Glyos. After decades of amazing work Matt has earned that courtesy before someone releases this kind of overly pessimistic and negative report (during a pandemic) that essentially ends up shoveling dirt on Onell.

Onell making a smaller release is completely understandable. With this pandemic and the brexit early this year, a lot of european collectors are either left to wait for scalpers on ebay or just forget about certain toys makers. It's an issue related to whoever makes new import laws for the eu because they come out of nowhere with no warning. So for me living in the land of pasta and mafia I'm off limits from buying from zullbeast, onell, pbussey and toyfinity. Is it annoying? Fuck yes. It is Onell's fault? No. Not in the least. Consider that their lead designer, as you mentioned, passed away. I don't know what's going on with you but giving them some slack, some time to y'know, take a deep breath, reorganize and cope with this should be something an adult person should do without a second thought. I don't know you but there's nothing to pretend from them right now, we're all chest deep in a murky swamp and no one knows when things will get back to normal. If they ever will that is.

I literally just got into glyos last month, and the worry is definitely there that this is all on the way out. It is kind of heartbreaking. On the positive side, every purchase I've made from the companies still offering sets has been an absolute delight. I just dropped $120 on the new wave from onell, and it is really great stuff.

Onell Design used to put out Glyos stuff every month and then it kept decreasing in frequency, now I don't even know what their release schedules are so I gave up even checking the website anymore, I feel like Matt just isn't into it anymore.
