See stats from other players around the league (Like madden) 4. Prime time games 5.Give players forward progress (Like grego said) 6. Give grego a link to his youtube channel in retro bowl 7. Retro Bowl is a simple, mobile game that does its job. I think expecting a deeper experience is asking for more than what the game is intending to provide. At that point, one should probably look into finding a deeper game?

I think that RB clearly fulfills it’s role and does it well but most of the things i am referring to in this video wouldn’t complicate anything. in fact all of these suggestions either improve already existing features, clear bugs, or enhance experiences in game that we already have (i.e drafting)

A lot of high school students play this during class when they don’t have anything to do. In summer, there’s no reason to play it since we have other things we can do. That’s another factor of why it’s so popular beginning in the fall.

​@@imgregoI think it should be a thing where all your no star players are kept on a second roster and they gain stars the more games they play so say you have a gap at receiver then your no star will slowly start to gain stars the more they are targeted so once they get 100 receptions they get anywhere from half a star to a star depending on how many games they play on the other hand I think star playes should be able to lose stars if they aren't maxed out and get into the toxic but can gain stars if they are consistently upgraded and have the best mood and are in good condition

A pet peeve of mine is when you run with your QB and he gets tackled behind the LOS, it counts as negative rushing yards instead of counting as a sack. They actually fixed this issue, but then later removed it for seemingly no reason.

What I think what would be a good idea is about the exhibition games. When you click exhibition you can choose what save file of edited teams you want to play with. For example, if I choose save file 1 I can play with the default teams. If I choose save file 2 I can play a game with college teams if they were edited in that save file.

Based on the title game it's 'RETRO' Bowl. It just a simple game why tf do you guys take seriously. You guys didn't have to pay to play. Only pay for $1 for the unlimited mode. It just a simple arcade game and you guys demand the dev too add more stupid features. Go play madden if you guys want more realistic details. The developer just a small company they also have another project to made. Don't take too seriously on the game. If you guys didn't enjoy it just uninstall it. Simple as that.

i agree but there is nothing wrong with adding input to developers from someone that enjoys the game. nothing i’ve mentioned is negative towards the game - only constructive. i love the simplicity nothing i’ve mentioned would change that. and while the company has many projects on their plate this is their main focus and rightfully so, it’s the most successful of their games by FAR.

​@@imgregoI understand but asking developers to add some features like online mode, defense mode is not a good idea. There is a lot of work to be done with that. The concept of the game is as you said SIMPLICITY. So don't demand too much from them. That's why RB now doesn't seem as enjoy as it used to be because there are players who want realistic and drastic changes in the game. They put too much pressure on them. Before RB NSG already had successful games like New Star Soccer. Developers know what they are doing to make their games successful. We as players who play the game for FREE just enjoy the game. That all.

I'm sick of it because i've see too much on twitter youtube discord. Developers have already answered for it there are NO for those features in the games. But they really desperate want it. Don't worry the game still have a progression. Be patient.

I did download this back in early 2020. I thought it was just a simple game, played it for two months and never touched it again. I didnt think it was as deep as it actually was, since the gameplay is so simple. Its like pacman having rpg elements like leveling up

All great points and ideas for improving Retro Bowl. The Biggest feature I'd like to see, and maybe it's unrealistic from a programming standpoint, I don't know, is the ability to swap out players mid game. If I build up a big lead, I don't want to keep playing my star players, depleting their stamina, especially if they are older guys who are more prone to injuries. This would be especially helpful early in a rebuild with a new team when your facilities are poor and guys stamina comes off really quickly. Plus, it would entice you to go ahead and draft some of those late round guys you don't really need so you have someone to play while resting your starters and they won't be 0 star guys.

My top features that should realistically get added: Toe tap animation Trade Block Trade players for players and not just picks Defensive backs jump/dive/swatt animations New player models Gloves on wrs and dbs Small playbook Chain gang coming on the field when situation is appropriate Toxic players over 3 stars sitting out for bigger contract Defensive backs back peddle Way more faces Dreads/long hair coming out the back of the helmet like legend bowl

I wish they made Hard mode a little more difficult because there is a HUGE difference between Hard and Extreme. Id love it if on defense you can choose which play to use to counter the offense. It also allows you to see how your star defensive players are ACTUALLY performing vs whatever nonsense the game shows in text.

I feel like at a certain offensive coordinator and head coach star level, we should be able to design our own plays (within eligible player routes), along with being able to choose your plays at a certain level. It's a bit of a stretch, but it removes some rng, and adds some more player involvement.

Some good high stakes scenarios Your player gets busted with PEDs, you can cut him and get a huge moral boost on your team and like 5 CC, or keep him and be fined for like half your CC and your fans hate you Your player holds out, you can increase his salary or cut him, this would be a rare scenario, like it should only happen to players who have toxic moral Player demands a trade, either do it and you get a high value pick, or refuse and he has the potential to hold out or his ratings drop Position battles having depth, if you have mutliple of a position rostered, they fight to be the WR1, or CB1, there is drama there where players can loose moral if they have a bad game, or you can bench them and they can react

i had a lot of coaching credits (it costs about 400) and simulated a few seasons and renamed and changed their likenesses. it wasn’t perfect but it was close

Audibling into the same play is so irritating. Also the game timer isn't tied to the framerate, so while on a modern phone you may get 2-3 drives for a two minute quarter, on my older one I get 1 maybe 1 and a half.

@@imgrego I normally wouldn't have a problem with it but since the defense is simmed, the AI scores at the normal rate while sometimes it can take 10 seconds of game time for a player to get up from a tackle and the next down to begin.

my #1 idea is to make more plays on both sides of the ball. when you see a preview of a team on an upcoming match, there should be stars below offense & defense stars for coaching stars. have players fake a blitz, have more dynamic coverage, etc. and on offense, if you have a better coach, there should be more play options. have a flood concept where the QB shifts to the side of the flood, or have a rb do more routes, or have a tight end start off blocking and then run a route.

This is a very simple game. It just wasn’t built for long term success because of its little to no room for growth. There’s not a problem, just not enough content. But I don’t expect it to become an in depth game (unless they get desperate). Newstar games have made it clear they do not want to make this game an in depth simulation game.

first of all jared, i love your work. great game for my fantasy team. but i would argue that there is still plenty of room for growth. especially coming from someone who has been playing the game for a long time and knows the ins and outs as i’m sure you do you know that with even subtle progress through draft features, new and unique dilemmas, and maybe more customization for teams this game could easily steal the spotlight from other games with much larger budgets.

@@imgrego thank you bro, But anyway don’t get me wrong, I would love new features and more in-depth gameplay especially with draft classes , but unfortunately like I said new star has been public about their opinions on a lot of players ideas, and most of them have been denied. (To be fair though I have seen a lot of fan ideas be shutdown by them, but then are implemented into the game months later, like the feature that allows you to pick what face a player has, so they can always change their mind too). I just think retro bowl was just built to be simple and I don’t think they’ll ever make a huge change, like being able to play defense or something. Who knows though

@@imgrego the difficulty level had nothing to do with it. You could make it near impossible to win and I wouldn’t like it any more or less.The strategy is just too basic. Too be fair I feel most sports games get boring pretty quick unless you are playing another person.

@@bruddog i understand what you mean and i agree. the ai is very easy to take advantage of if you have played it for even a short amount of time. that’s why when i play i purposely try to play more realistically because you could always go for fourth down and two point conversions but i don’t find that nearly as fun

@@imgrego that makes sense. Its a fundamental problem with sports games vs the AI. Typically the AI has to have a vastly superior rated team or “cheat” on RNG rolls or just be unrealistically good to be competitive in sports games. The computer can be challenging but typically in a cheap kind of way and not in an organic type of way. I love playing Tecmo Super Bowl vs human opponents but find playing the computer boring/not fun.

@@bruddog i appreciate this conversation and your responses! i’ve always felt that same sentiment. think about madden and how must games on all-madden the CPU QB has literally 2 incompletions over the entire game and both were interceptions. I couldn’t imagine how hard it is for the programmers always having to create a computer opponent that is never relatable to the users inputs and lacks “realistic” actions. that’s why it’s so fun to play against other players. they play like humans. computers really can’t replicate it.

It’s important to remember that no matter what features are added, the game NEEDS to stay simple for the casual playerbase. For example: Playing defense would be an amazing option, but it needs to stay an OPTION, because the more complex the gameplay is/the more ways of playing the game that are forced on a playerbase, the more likely you alienate the vast majority of people who play it to kill time and not think much when doing so. Simplicity and casual play is Retro Bowls bread and butter, so added features MUST keep that in mind
