I'm finishing reading the Chronicles of Narnia with my boys and I'm finding so much of my own perspectives on the Lord being increased. Unfortunately "perspectives" is not a powerful enough of a word to give what I've received justice. What word can one use to describe a deep seated full recognition and love for the Lord? What word can be used to describe the tears that well up in my eyes when Aslan appears in the scene? Or causes my heart to jump with joy when he reveals himself? The joy I experience in such scenes as Aslan walking with Shasta and revealing himself to him cannot be fully described or appreciated by any one word. So to your point, the deeper I go the more depth I glean from such stories. It's a depth that I not only want to cherish but also want to have others cherish and see as well. To say that my appreciation for the simple things in this life has increased is an understatement. Lewis does an excellent job finding the balance between an appreciation for what is to come and an appreciation for what already is.

Chris sort of hit on the "sort of" hip thing in many conservative congregations in which the sermon is nearly always a verse-by-verse Bible study--great for Sunday school, but a little flat and lifeless for the Sunday message from the pastor. This is a really "safe" way to "formulate" the sermon week after week, but not always edifying for the congregation.
