the doomerism has mainly been about historical total war which makes a lot of sense, I think the main thing that's a problem for warhammer at the moment is the time it takes to make these dlcs. 1 dlc a year is just not enough, I've noticed I'm playing a lot less because of the slow dlc rate

The Old World Campaign mod, the Victory Conditions Overhaul mod, and OVN Lost World mods are the only things keeping me playing right now. I like that the patches are adding some more little Unique items and Unusual locations, but it has been too little too slowly. I hope CA continues to support, but at least the mod scene seems to still be very alive with big overhauls, new maps, and fleshing out factions and mechanics.

I think the main issue they have is a lot of people have checked out of the game and are unlikely to come back until they have added a few DLCs. When you had DLC every 3 months it was easy to just keep people playing, but now it’s hard to see the point…

I’m glad they will eventually soon put a bit more effort into ancillaries. That’s been needed for years and years. As for TWW3 I want more land opened, more settlements in exisitng lands, more landmarks, more races, more trade goods and finally to see stuff like Control and Corruption actually matter again.

With ancillaries they’re doing something that takes modders 1 week to do. That already exists on the mod workshop - CA should just copy-paste their work, and pay them for it (CA has credited modders in the past). And modders often balance better than CA since modders spend so much time actually playing the game at a high skill level

Games Workshop made Cathay becaus they wanted to expand into the Chinese market. Same with Cathay and the Russian market (notice how GW hasn’t mentioned Kislev since Ukraine?). Ind and Kuresh and Araby and Tilea all do not offer an avenue like that. Every new faction has to be approved by Games Workshop, and Games Workshop just has ZERO reason to approve new factions. Because GW primarily sees video games as a way to sell more miniatures, so making up new stuff you have no miniatures for is pointless and might mess with the kinds of miniatures you might want to make in the future. We might see Dogs of War. Because they already exist and can be added painlessly to the tabletop game. But that’s an advantage none of the other factions have.

I wonder if Sofia is going hard on TW:WH, maybe it will end up being a ToD or Chaos Dwarfs large style DLC maybe the plan is 1-2 smaller Lord Packs (maybe in the classic WH2 size), or even a small LP and some sort of character pack, between the main tentpole DLCs done by Sofia. That would be awesome especially in conjunction with the current patch schedule - though I imagine a nightmare for modders to keep up with on the flipside!.

Also if we have no DLC before the year things will get worse taking way too much time to release a little bit of content. You might say TOD was good but I don't see players sticking much around after trying it and be done with it. Replayability is getting stale

Maybe sophia should do campaign mechanics like importing vortex and demon realms into IE. The major problem with this would be the AI overall needed especially if they made it them optional at the beginning of campaigns. A little adjustment for sieges I think might help, make it that ladders act like other siege equipment. 1 turn = 2 ladders with the option of buying ladders or you can make ladders and have your army move with the pre-made ladders.

I do wish the 3 Kingdoms system for army composition came into TW3 - It'd have been interesting to have the Hero/Lord system get merged in such a fashion meaning you'd have to get the specialized Lord or Hero for specific troops to be included in the armies.

Modern game development says we get 3 more dlcs to round out the world, maybe a map expansion and mega ind/khuresh/nippon race pack, then a big end times dlc. Then 3-4 years of skeleton team maintenance as the rest move to 40K which will release like WH1.

I personally think the games in the best state it's ever been, and while there are still some big issues like units ignoring orders, sieges and the long DLC waits I do believe CA are genuinely committed to doing better and the extensive patching is proof of that. @@Wizard_of_Light Dynasty is not bad, but with all due respect to CA Sofia, they pretty much make WH spin-offs with a historical setting. What historical TW needs is a game with an entirely new engine, with entirely new and exiting concepts and at a scale that can approach the same level of care Warhammer has been getting for almost a decade now. Three Kingdoms was the only grand scale historical TW since Attila (which is basically Rome 2 Barbarian Invasion) and it was axed after like a year of DLC. For me, that would mean making either something like Empire 2/Medieval 3, or make a Pike and Shot game, and experiment with new types of settlements, preferably in a way that allows us to switch capitals and roles as we see fit, as well as drastically improving battle behaviour. In a historical TW, units should be a bit more fragile (though unpopular opinion, 1hp troops is a step too far. I fully understand the frustration of magic doing half a unit's damage value but only killing one guy, but having more stats with a unit does make combat more dynamic than just melee attack vs melee defense). Then they should introduce solid mechanics to the campaign map, like making resources and trade matter more in construction projects and training (no horses without pastures) and having those resources give additional benefits or maybe even detriments if its rare enough.

It should have more support, but sadly with the disastrous launch and the non warrented reputation Dynasty has because of Pharaoh it get shat on by the community. I hope they will invest more love into it still. The setting is fantastic, the graphics are amazing and the gameplay is great.

@Wizard_of_Light Oh I agree, Dynasty is a huge project that's undervalued, but it does still feel like a Warhammer spin-off. The UI is very similar, for example, as are the mechanics for politics and diplomacy... 3 Kingdoms had great ideas with subterfuge, as a counterexample, and on the battlefield had duels that added new dimension to the fights. Dynasties has been a much needed upgrade for Pharao (and Troy), but I still maintain that they feel too much like CA Sofia copied WH's homework, key word here being feel. 3 Kingdoms felt fresh despite having single characters with abilities that can solo armies, thanks to them also experimenting with new abilities and options. To make historical TW viable again, they now need to put in the work and make an original product, based perhaps on lessons learned with previous titles. Just to be clear, mechanics can and should be moved over. The spy system from 3 Kingdoms would be a great fit for a historical title I'd imagine, as would an expansion on Troy's resource system and a settlement system like given to the Chaos Dwarfs in WH. But it cannot be all too similar to old games, it has to feel like an improvement to TW in general, it needs to push the limit on what TW can do. I'm personally thinking about letting special resources and trade play a much larger role, and revamping the recruitment system where you can pretty much build your own army as you like, maybe with some blueprint templates already available. Make soldiers customisable depending on your resources. Got a lot of high quality yew? Your bowmen will have the finest weapons, maybe you can even train town militia to use a bow. Got large iron deposits? Your heavy troops will be truly fearsome, even your peasants can have pretty darn good weapons. Got gold deposits? You could use it to buy other resources, but why sacrifice your own armies if you can afford some quality mercenaries? Got horses? You are now the Golden Horde, congratulations! Maybe this can even be paired with a population mechanic like the one from DeI, and MAYBE you can even add special weapons to special factions to make them feel distinct from each other. And just like that, a core mechanic that has barely been altered in years is suddenly revamped completely, and all the TW fans can marvel at a brand new serious historical TW title (if it's any good of course)

Even if we assume all the Slaanesh content and Cathay fit into 1 DLC the rest would have to be Dogs of War, Ind, Kharesh, Nippon and another lord pack split betwen Nagash, Thanquil and whoever. Frankly I dont see how they plan to wrap this all up without either stretching the games lifespan to 2030 or making something derastic like a making Ind, Kharesh and Nippon a lord pack or something

Dogs of War can be a faction DLC. Ind and Kuresh won’t ever happen outside of Cathay units. Same reason why Araby will never happen. Games Workshop doesn’t allow them to create new stuff outside of their Old World cooperation. Kislev and Cathay were allowed because GW wanted to expand into the Chinese markets and because Kislev was seen as popular with European players while also allowing them easier expansion into the russian (and Eastern European) markets. But then Russia did the Ukraine thing and look at that, we haven’t heard a word about Kislev from GW since. Realistically, we will get 1 faction DLC for DoW, and that’s it. The other 5 DLC will be triple lord DLC. They might make Nagash a special End Times DLC as capstone DLC, but more likely Nagash will just be a vampire counts DLC Lord with a mixed roster and some cool mechanics.

I pray to the lady that we get a Bretonnia DLC, they can easily get 5 new units (elite bowman, foot knights, create a new model for questing beast knights, which they have done for other factions). It's criminal the lack of love shown to Bretonnia, even the vampires got at least 1.

Norsca and Khemri also never got anything… …well, Norsca kinda got something, but that was just stuff from other factions bleeding into their roster, not actual norscan content.

Yeah I love Bretonnia so much but unfortunately it’s not a common race for people to play so I doubt they’ll be getting a DLC

Warhammer 3 is currently at a crossroads, we have the potential to get back to the golden times or just fall back down to the uncertain times and the next DLC will probably decide finally, which answer its gonna be.

You can be sure that until we get Nagash, more DLCs will be released. CA isn't stopping the DLC development while they still have this massive chest of guaranted ca$h waiting in their basement.

You probably already destroyed Warhammer 3 by review bombing. Most games cannot recover from that. Steam will not recommend this game for new players. I remember that about 3 years ago WH2 had like 96% of players recommending the game on stream. I bough it but this was a garbage compared to current WH3. It's now better for CA to create new title without this burden. YOU SHOULD NOT EVALUATE THE GAME OR DLC BECAUSE OF IT'S PRICE, BUT ONLY BY QUALITY. THE PRICE IS A PUBLIC INFORMATION.

Yeah great time, that's why the playerbase is tanking, every stupid patch they put out that no one cares about, we have enough content, and mods, we want this game to be stable not get patched every week, breaking all of our mods and saves. Next time maybe disclose that you're sponsored by CA.
