The Staves and producer Justin Vernon talk about the experience of recording The Staves’ second album, If I Was. Filmed on location at Vernon’s April Base Studios in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, the mini-doc features songs from the album, interviews with the players, and behind-the-scenes footage of the recording process. ‘If I Was’ will be released via Atlantic Records and Nonesuch Records in early 2015. How are the Staves not the most popular group on earth? I think their music is too sophisticated for a lot of the mainstream. I firmly believe that the Stavely-Taylor sisters are one if not the greatest female group on the planet. Their songwriting, arrangements, voices.......it's all magic to me. 8:33 sums it all up. so looking forward to listening to the new Album. Since hearing you at "Folk im Park" in Nuremberg 2013 I fell in love with your sound. Now I love the emerged development and multilayers of "blood i bled".
