Great video! I do think Brant might be a bit biased since he seems to be a die-hard Glock fan, which isn't necessarily a problem. While I suspect the issues were ammo-induced, I could be wrong. I had two identical Platypus pistols made-one for me and one for my brother. We've had them since July and have put about 3,000 rounds through each of them. We've also let family members, friends, and even people at the gun range try them, and we've experienced no malfunctions with various types of ammo, including homemade reloads. In my opinion, the Platypus is definitely a gun I would trust in a real-life scenario. My brother, who is a die-hard Glock enthusiast and had never shot a 1911-style firearm, was intrigued by the Platypus. After convincing him to try buy it, he now stands by it. Despite his love for Glocks, he has said he would grab the Platypus first in a life-or-death situation.

Recently got my 5” platy and bought a Ragnarok holster for a staccato XC + x300 with the Black Friday sale. I needed to add rubber spacers to widen the retention because of the full rail. Also, the platy’s indentations on either side of the fiber optic front sight are sharp and scrape the kydex on draw, but otherwise the fit is surprisingly good.

If you have 10’s of thousands of rounds put down range on one platform, and another platform with a totally different trigger, recoil impulse, and grip angle even comes close within 1000 rounds, that speaks a metric ton abbot the platform.

@James-zo7je20 күн бұрын
I got one 6 months ago and haven't touched anything else since. It's a great platform that is the best of both worlds, being the person I am I did tinker with mine adding an EGW 2pc tungsten guide rod to add some weight up front and bump the recoil spring down to a 12lb spring (tried everything from 8lb up to the 14lb factory) and it's been a tac driver for running Limited optics. I have around 4-5k through mine and haven't seen those issues, I do primarily run hand load 147's or Super Vel 147 hush puppies for USPSA. My only gripes are it does use some proprietary components because of the glock mags and I got mine OTS so it has an RMRcc cut but I machined a DPP adapter for an EFLX which fixed that issue. Overall you can't find a better quality setup that shoots as good as it does for what Stealth Arms charges.

Hey guys, Brandon says towards the start of the video that that difference between a 2011 and 1911 is the 2 piece frame and grip. While that may be the case here, the real and sole difference is: Nothing. Staccato simply holds the trademark for the name “2011”, EVERYTHING else is a doublestack 1911

You’re 100% touching the slide and slowing it down enough that it doesn’t have enough energy to kick the spent casing. The slide is wider than the frame instead of Flush with the Glock’s. I’d love to see an update

I find the 2311 from OA Defense to be a little bit more compelling since it uses an external extractor. I'm not the hugest fan of it using 320 magazines though, as they are expensive, and I haven't had good luck with Sig's magazine coatings when it comes to rust. I would also feel more comfortable utilizing either of these guns if they had firing pin safety blocks. @Rubeless Have you used the Tactical triggers? They look nice.
