Chris, thanks for the review. Did you happen to try out the stealth weld in the same size also did you ask about the wider 72 inch bottom. Im looking for a boat that will jig detroit,saginaw rivers comfortably, and run salmon rivers.
@tangledtacklefishing4 күн бұрын
I wanted the fiberglass composite from the start so I didn’t go with the weld. My recommendation would be to contact Stealthcraft and let them know what you’re looking for. They will build you a boat that you’ll be happy with.

Nice boat Chris. I hope it serves you well. The Merc 75-115 midrange is a very good outboard platform. My brother's sled has a 115 and it works very well. It’s interesting to see how salmon and steelhead fishing boats evolved so much differently between the lake states and us folks in the upper left-hand corner. The sleds out here evolved from wood to aluminum skipping fiberglass entirely. They evolved from a flat bottom to a V bottom. Then from center console steering to tiller steering. From 18’ as being considered a big sled to over 26’now. Then from jet pumps back to props. My little sled is 19’ long with a 6-degree V bottom welded aluminum and it’s a tiller-steered prop boat. Most folks who own boats designed to run jet pumps run props as much as possible out here. They usually swap lower units between jet and prop when the conditions demand it. Props also get you around some local regulations on where you are allowed jet pumps. It’s really weird for me to see a power anchor winch and no kicker hanging on the transom of your boat. There are no anchor winches on PNW sport fishing boats and everyone has a kicker. It’s both a practical and safety issue.
@tangledtacklefishing11 ай бұрын
Kicker and now mount likely being installed next year.
@rthurman906511 ай бұрын
I recommend holding off on the kicker if you are only using the sled on the river with one caveat. It’s too cold for the batteries to function well for a bow mount. You already have oars so going back to a boat ramp somewhere even if it’s not the right one should happen. For the kind of currents, it looks like you are fishing in there we just used the bow-mount on spot lock instead of an anchor. It works much better and allows for easy fine-tuning of your position. However, for steelhead, we only fish from a fixed position with a sled if the river is high and dirty. Otherwise, you hit the track mode on the bow mount and drift back slower than the current is moving. You need to cover water here, camping out in one place is rarely productive. The Minnkota Terrovas is the go-to here for almost every boat. The Ulterras are way too problematic. Several guides were running Ulterras here but went back to Terrovas. A 24-volt 80-pound thrust is big enough for your sled however the 36-volt has a much longer battery life. I have a 24-volt Rhodan Marine 80-pond thrust bow mount power with a 24-volt Lithium 50 amp hour battery on my 19’ Alumaweld Supervee since I sort of do my own thing. @@tangledtacklefishing

@@rthurman9065 we don't have many problems with bow mounts around here in the winter. There are many river boats that run them. The kicker I'll use in the warm months for trolling inland lakes and such.

Hey not sure if you will see this but I have a great theme for next week's show and that is barometer fishing. A lot of anglers don't realize how the barometer and yes even tides play huge effect . What do you think? What do you think?
@tangledtacklefishing10 ай бұрын
I know that changing weather patterns and barometric pressures play a part on fish behavior, but I’m not well versed enough to be comfortable doing a seminar on the subject.
@ejazz388 ай бұрын
I'll give you the cliff notes, since the guide won't or doesn't feel comfortable.. high pressure = atmospheric pressure is pushing down on the water, the main effect this has is it compress the fish. Like wearing a tight jumpsuit, because it compress your whole body like a fish in water, they dont just wear a shirt or pants.it incompass their whole body. You don't really eat very much because there's no room for food. .. maybe something small... sun is bright, no clouds.. low pressure is the opposite, storm approaching, clouds, wind. Pressure doesn't effect fish in rivers as much as lake fish. River fish need to eat because they burn more calories from being in constant current. But it will effect them and make them eat less or key in on smaller offerings. Make sense.? I've had a little tequila this evening.. since you mentioned tides, low pressure will have higher tides, the atmosphere isn't pushing the water down. High pressure tide may not be as high. Of course, wind will play a major factor in tides. Keeping them low or higher than it should be..

Nice rig! My stealthcraft is about 4 years old of hard use and still looks like new. They are solid rigs fior sure. I really like you're enclosure, im thinking I might get one for my set up. Can you trailer at highway speeds with the enclosure up? Or do you have to fold it down? 👍👍

My buddy is looking at this boat, review seems a little slanted, of course it does say stelth craft ambassador, you're not telling it like it is, sorry.. How does someone call themselves a guide and not be able to explain the effects of barometric pressure on fish?
@tangledtacklefishing8 ай бұрын
I am prostaff for Stealthcraft and very proud of it, but what needs to be explained is that I sought them out due to their quality products rather than the opposite. I encourage you and your friend to not take my word for it. Have him take one out for a test, or book a guided trip with a guide that owns one. I have no doubt he’ll be impressed. If you’d like to take a trip with me I’d also be happy to discuss the effects of barometric pressure on fish. Have a great day and best of luck to your friend on his quest.
