I’ve had mine for two years now. It’s a great knife for close combat assault or defence. It’s not a knife that does many jobs, it’s a knife that does one job really well. It’s on my bug out shtf chest rig. I also have the CKRT minimalist as a back up mini blade, an army bushcraft knife, CKRT mini axe, throwing knives, and a flint knife. I’m a huge fan of specialty blades. I got a lot more put away in storage and if I find anything better than what I got on my bag I change it out. So far that’s my set up.

Your preferred "upside down" grip is actually the correct way to hold it for use as a fighting knife. For uses other than fighting, any grip you want will work for this knife. I really like karambits and own a bunch of them ranging from budget to premium. A few of the premium ones I have did come as sharp as the Steel Tiger, but none of them came any sharper. For its price point you're getting an extremely capable and scary sharp self defense tool. Nice review.

Caught it on sale for $36.44 plus tax on Amazon a couple of days ago. About once a year I check for Cold Steel deals and found the new Leatherneck Bowie for $119.99 and an AD15 Lite for half off. Liked you video on the Tiger so I ordered one before it went back up to $44. Looked like it might be easier to conceal than a Tanto and legal where a push dagger isn't.

Cold Steel folding knives I like are the Recon 1, American Lawman and the Code 4. The Code 4 is a great knife but the aluminum handles are slick.I added adhesive backed textured rubber grip that can be purchased online for a low cost. It works great.

Would you say this is a softer, flexible, grippy rubber or a harder rubber like the Honshu? Some folks have said Cold Steel has gone to a harder rubber than it used to be.

It's a good blade ,but the ring should have been metal also , I was a little disappointed but I didn't find out about it untill I had one on the way home time back and saw a video that said it was not metal but a hard plastic, well it's not as hard as it should really be for a Karambit but it is what it is and I still like it because of the blade and steel it's made of ⚔️💀⚔️

That's a Serious looking Blade. Hope that I don't ever have to face one . The Only reason why I don't Own any Karambits is because I have No Experience with them and because of that, I would NOT feel Confident enough with it. A few years ago when I was in Sicily, I remember seeing them Prominently displayed in EVERY Gun & Knife store I went to. I am Old Fashioned and I like to carry weapons that I am Familiar with and Confident with. In Sicily my EDC was a side opening switchblade, a telescopic baton (Jerry Springer) and an Umarex Pepper spray pistol with disposable Pepper Gel cannisters. My Little Friends kept me and my Girl safe. At the end of the day, We All have to go with what we know. You take care Buddy, and keep those videos coming.

A Karambit is primarily a weapon. However, the tasks a knife does are rarely self defense. I'm curious to see what general tasks they are good for and where they fail. Ultimately the weight on your hip day to day will matter more than its capabilities in a once in a lifetime scenario. Perhaps something to explore in future videos with your current blade collection. 👍

What else would you do with a super curved blade?
@forksandspoons7272

@@theviewer7262 Dunno, that's why I want someone who has one to explore it. I've carried a knife all my life. I use it daily for a variety of tasks. I have never had to use it as a weapon. So if it doesn't have a practical function then it is completely useless. That is the question I'm asking, does it have a function other than fighting. Not to mention plenty of blades made for specific tasks are curved.

@Forks and Spoons Basically, the Filipino Karambit is a gardening tool - this blade profile is great for trimming bush twigs, herbs, tall coarse grass, or even cane. Karambit is perfect for cutting cardboard boxes, as well as ropes and wide belts, including safety belts. The blade profile prevents the material being cut from escaping over the cutting edge. The kukri blade works in a similar way. Carambits are sometimes used by electricians to cut cables, such a knife is good at cutting carpets, gumoleum, PVC and other fabrics.

@@marcinos303 I hadn't thought of that, but it makes a lot of sense. The same idea as a sickle for chopping hay. Now that I think about, I've seen folding pruning knives with a similarly curved blade. I guess I just didn't make the connection. Thanks much. 👍

I have a dilemma: Cold Steel Tiger or Ka-Bar TDI? Both are combat knives, both of which are quite limited in use. This means that carambitas are not very suitable for cutting a cutlet on a plate or bread, but this type of blade is perfect for cutting ropes, strips and cardboard boxes - my colleague literally cuts tons of cardboard boxes and uses Cold steel double Agent 1 for this. The Ka-Bar TDI has a more universal blade, a fairly firm, nice grip and is not that scary. It is also suitable for cutting ropes, belts and other things. Unfortunately, I do not have a comparative scale to say which AUS8 is better, but I bet Cold Steel did better heat treatment - they do well in hardening more budget steels. So even a murder weapon may have other, more practical, "normal" uses.

💯👍👍To be honest I think I like that KA Bar better just because I think it carries better
