From my understanding, the karambit was originally used in Indonesia in the rice patties. Workes, while harvesting rice, could drop the knife letting it hang off the pinky so they could use both hands without putting the knife away And the blade shape is inspired by a tiger claw.

Put your hands in the reverse Karambit grip and rip the tip of that blade against something that provides resistance, and you'll appreciate those finger grooves. Have done it. Finger grooves work. You focus on the ring but the grooves in that angle help. And they double PERFECTLY as a forward "claw" style grip so you can use a fencing or saber grip with your pinky finger in the ring. Plus, if you lead with your thumb, you can snake around arms and legs and obstacles and let the rounded point flow off of things and then dig in when you've found a good angle. That would be a lead hand seeking a clinch - wrap outside around the arm and under (for a wrap-around outside overhook which is essentially an underhook because of the knife point) and then turn your wrist inward and you have an acute shot at the neck and/or face.

that's strange you said stonewashed blades are more prone to rust, I've heard that it actually prevents rust and my beadblasted knives are the ones that have rusted the most

I just added this one and it’s a really awesome karambit. I was gifted a brand new version from 2012 and it’s the polish version. Awesome video brother

I prefer my Fox Karambit folder knife. I have about 10 Karambit blades. I lived in Malaysia for years where I learned how to use them. Yes.. Go for the reverse grip. I have a cold steel karambit on my plate carrier vest.

I had one years ago, and a fgx version for "training" it was pretty amazing. very substantial knife that ends in a very acute point, it would certainly be a very devastating tool

I have Mtech model but the Cold Steel Tiger is the King of those style production knives. ⚖️ My Mtech I think is 440 of some type with a very budget sheath and the ring on the bottom is metal ,so the sheath is the only problem with the Mtech 🎖️🪖🥇🪖🎖️
