I remember this game like it was yesterday. As the only Steeler fan in a family of die hard Browns fans in NE Ohio, I was in 9th grade. Everyone was depressed for the rest of our Christmas eve, and extended family didnt want to talk to me hahahaha. I didnt gloat, but had the biggest smirt on my face for the rest of the holiday celebration

No kidding. I'm still mad that they didn't start him in that game against (either it was Tennessee or Jacksonville) early in the season after Ben had his appendictemy. Steelers lost to Jags 9-0, and Tennessee 13-10 (I think)... Batch would have 0wned in either game and Ben would have had more time to heal

A great football year for Steeler fans. My friends and I would gather at my place for Steeler games that season. We lost to the Bungles, resulting in a 7-5 record A few of my pals were becoming negative and giving up on the season. After a quick calculation in my alchohol soaked brain I exclaimed, " 8 GAME WINNING STREAK AND THE STEELERS ARE WORLD CHAMPIONS !!!!!!" I then pointed to the wall , where I had proudly taped 7 WASHINGTON OBSERVER REPORTER sports section headlines from the wins. Need I say more ? 🏈
@MrBiscuit753 жыл бұрын
That's awesome!! I have a story kind of similar to that. I remember saying after the end of the season before that that what the Steelers needed to do was sneak in as a wild card. They needed to have a back against the wall, us against the world everyone is doubting us mentality. If that happened we would win the Superbowl because we had the talent and finally had a QB and it always felt like in the past with our teams when we were favored to win or had home-field we tended to get beat in the championship or before. They cut it a lot closer than I thought they would but after it all unfolded my friends thought I was like Nostradamus because it all happened the way I thought it needed to lol. Was also fortunate enough to be at the Monday night game that season when the colts thrashed us. And again at the playoff game with the immaculate tackle to bask in the glory of the revenge!! What a ride that year was!!

Seeing games like this should remind people that Big Ben is a top 10 - 15 QB of all time. I hate that he keeps getting disrespected by people blaming his success only because he had Antonio Brown and Hines Ward. Honorable mentions to Plaxico Burress, Santonio Holmes, JuJu, and Martavis Bryant. All the rest of the WRs Ben threw to were average at best. Look at that TD throw that he threw to Santonio Holmes in the 2009 Super Bowl. There are about 5 QBs that could make that throw. And he actually made that throw twice to different sides of the field. The first one @ 1st and goal :49 seconds on the game clock was a perfect pass to the left corner of the endzone that Santonio didn't catch which is why I was pissed that they gave the MVP to him instead of Big Ben. That was a perfect pass that should have been caught. Though Santonio Holmes had a great game and was a factor in winning the Super Bowl, it was all Big Ben on that final drive. So the very next play @ 2nd and goal :43 seconds on the clock, Big Ben still make the same throw but to the opposite side of the field where only Santonio Holmes could catch it which was the TD catch by Santonio Holmes. Holmes' name would have been mud if he had missed that pass too if that Super Bowl would have been lost. This is an example of how Big Ben gets no credit for how great he is. I'm not saying he's a Peyton Manning or Drew Brees but stop putting Philip Rivers and Eli Manning in the conversation with him. Hell, if you don't remember the play and drive I'm talking about watch it for yourself... kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJilip2qq9p4fdE
@nick566773 жыл бұрын
And last year he didnt make the top 10 QBs of the 2010s. That was pure BS!. Ben is all 2010s. But yet Brady and Manning, the NFL golden boys made it and Manning only played 5 years of the whole decade 🙄
@fredleeland24643 жыл бұрын
Issue I have is games like the Jags in 2017...they lose 30 to 9 or something but it was closer until he decided to throw 2 pick-sixes He's had games he has led the steelers to a loss based on his decision making but obviously he's won A LOT of games for the same reason The ones they lose just stick with me and make me question him

Watched a good portion of this one at Hartsfield-Jackson waiting for my flight home. Fortunately, this one wasn't a nail-biter. Incidentally, since both sides of my family moved east from Pittsburgh to help establish a new US Steel plant in southeastern Pennsylvania in the early-'50s, I grew up hearing of all of the lore and history of the Pittsburgh area. As far as I could figure it, "Yinz" comes from the indication, "You ones".
