First year of fishing, I got 4 hookups for Summer Steelhead in 3 days. Couldn't land any of them! Sometimes, the hook-ups just don't work out, but you're right: the key is to keep fishing, keep trying.

Great video of the agony of defeat as well as the victory smiles! I need to get out there. I haven't caught nor fished for steelhead for roughly 18 to 20 years. I use all my vacation time for chinook. Hopefully retirement in just a few years changes all that.

The dynamic duo does it again. Nice action guy's. Did Rocco use bait when he was drifting fishing or did he use a corkie or yarnie. Love your enthusiasm and excitement each time you all hook a fish. Keep the action coming. 👏👏👏👏👏

Awesome thank you 😊 Jeff! I don’t think we used any bait. Just a soft bead.

Ok Last Post .. try white glo bug yarn that you use for your yarnies with the bead you want to make it look like a piece of skein with an egg!

I have gone 7 times to various spots on local rivers and haven’t caught one. Then I ran over my poles with my car cuz I placed them leaning against it and forgot to put them in. I went and got a better pole and reel, the set up that many guys use in the pnw. The guy at the store told me that I can’t use the reel for both salt water and fresh water, becusee the fish in the rivers won’t touch my bait if they sense that salt water from the line, and I been doing just that, using same equipment for fresh and saltwater fishing. Maybe this is common sense knowledge, but not to me. I watched over 100 fishing videos from my area, and not one of them mentioned this crucial fact for newbies. I love fishing, so I’m gonna keep going till I start catching steelhead. I have caught lots of other species, but coho and steelhead been elusive for me. Hopefully now that I got new pole reel and line, and new beads. Some lures I need to wash thiugrouky and keep my salt water separate from fresh water lures.

It’s not easy! Fishing for summer steel is another way to get out!! It’s nice weather as well. Like I said in the video, eight years before I got my first fish

Ive never heard that salt water thing. I know lots of people who surf perch fish with their steelhead rods. But everyone also rinses off their stuff after fishing salt water because salt is corrosive..
@AutomagicFishing13 сағат бұрын
@@sasharemez7373 I have not heard anything about the salt thing. Good grief… the steelhead live in salt for years growing before coming back into fresh water 💦

Lots of people add salt to there bait lol

You’re not alone. I’ve caught one wild and lost every fish since then. Hooked a nice 8-10lb fish right in front of me yesterday and still lost it. I’m not surprised when I lose fish that I hook downstream from me though

Im 3 for 3 this winter so far on beads...but one year i also lost my first 8 hooked on beads. I think the reason people lose so many on beads is because the bead being pegged above the hook like that, a lot of fish are actually hooked on the outside of the lip and i think sometimes the hook is just barely through a tiny piece of skin and it just rips through after a minute.
@AutomagicFishing13 сағат бұрын
It’s definitely a mystery since we can’t do instant replay and zoom in on what really happened. “Lip hooked” or skin hooked.

I think for whatever reason when a fish gets further away you got to go easier on drag… seams like there more delay between line stretch and drag … just 2 cents
@AutomagicFishing12 сағат бұрын
Some say open bail and the fish will turn around and come back up river
