FYI...aside from the coupes in 69, the fastbacks chain of command if you will are as follows ; the base model was called the sportsroof, GT, Mach1, Boss 302, Boss 429. When I was In Thailand in 69, I wanted a Boss 302, they had car dealer reps over there, the salesman said " Son, I'd love to sell you one but you better have your Dad or Mom check with your insurance Co. an get a quote !!..The payment on the car was gonna be $ 75.00 a month, but the insurance was to be $ 700.-$800 per year...I said NOPE, so I ordered a 1970 Mach 1, payment was the same, but the insurance was about $ 250.00 a year. It was a great car, 351 Cleveland, close ratio 4- speed 389 rear gear...those were the days !!....Keep up the great work guys !!!....Tom

Just a thought. 351 W, mild high lift cam modern FI and an upgraded set of heads Chances are it has the ford 9" rear end. It could be fairly quick street car of the day. Upgrade the brakes you may just need more than you have. Been there back in the day. The 351W was a sleeper. Had a customer's kid bring one in for repair. He splintered the drive shaft like a pencil😂😂😂😂

FYI I caught a comment from Farm,first year for the foxbody mustang is actually '79 but it shares the same platform (fox chassis) as the Fairmont which predates that.They make great drag cars cuz it's strut front suspension four link rear with a fairly short wheelbase that's why you see a million of them with an LS swapped in.

I loved the Mach I as a kid, next to the Hemi Cuda. I have only had 2 Ferd, a 1966 Econoline Pickup with a 300 inline 6cyl. Made me love it. Then a 1986 Cougar with a 302cyl. Decent car. I am a dyed in the wool Olds/Buick 455 cubes or nothing kind of creature, ain't a Ferd guy, but if you watch those guys from JunkYard Digs, Dylan McCool, etc., them boys is ate up with Ferd blood. Maybe find a wrecked Lincoln with the Godzilla 460 in it. They speak Blue Oval constantly. Gonna love this build, I am sure.

You definitely should get a Marti report on this car. It’s a pretty rare car. A 1969 GT (last year of the GT) in Silver Jade? I believe there were only 5396 GT’s produced in 1969. The Mach 1 was way more popular with 72458 produced. BTW, there were multiple Sportsroof (fastback) models produced in 1969. The base fastback, the GT, the Mach 1, Boss 302, Boss 429 and even a model known as the Mustang E (economy) built with a 250 six cylinder, auto trans and a 2.33 rear gears. Can you say TURD?! Those are super rare with only about 50 produced. There were also some limited special editions built such as the Twister for Midwest dealers. I look forward to seeing your build of this car! As a Ford fan please keep it a Ford drivetrain. You can get a 530 HP 351W based 427ci crate engine from Ford Performance with a warranty. It will bolt right in. Put on EFI, a serpentine belt setup with modern AC, a good aftermarket radiator with dual electric fans. Put in a Tremec 5 speed (fits without hacking up the tunnel like a 6 speed would) with a good modern hydraulic clutch. A 9” rear end out back with posi like an Eaton Tru Trac. Add some mild suspension upgrades with a slightly lowered stance and a power rack and pinion. Upgrade the brakes and some nice 17-18” wheels and tires. I would also keep the silver jade color. It’s beautiful in modern two stage paint. Even better than original.

I'd call it the Crustang because it's a little crusty butt before you decide to build it or take it apart. I would get the Marti report to make sure it's not a one of one. You can hit up Dennis Collins at collins brothers Jeep if it turns out to be a one of one because he may have a better car for you guys to use as a builder.

When I was 16 my first vehicle was a 1970 longwheel based pickup truck that was a strong running truck bottom end and top end.I was adding a quart of oil a week needless to say that it wasn't far from coming apart because it was still putting a whooping on the ones that lined up beside it. This man was needing a work truck and wanted to trade a 69 gt fastback factory 428 4 speed even it didn't have the 428 still in it. The original motor was locked up and it had a 1977 351 Windsor in it with a 2 barrel. My cousin had to help me talk my dad into it. My dad knew that it was a great trade but I think his words was this is the last thing that I needed but after we talked him into letting me get it you talking about one happy son . That was the biggest regrets in my life was selling it so I could go to Florida spring break for 800 hundred dollars. Before I got rid of it the year and a half that I had it I had torn the center out of 6 or 7 clutches I think the rear-end gears was 390 and with the factory big block 4 speed it was a quick car . I think the reason for it running as good as it did was when I built it I had 68 302 heads and a 67 Shelby 289 cam and a 650 holley mechanical secondary. Didn't mean to go down memory lane on yall but seeing this video just brought it all back to me and that was a long time ago I'm 57 now and wanting to have another streetcar to feel young again but financially It's not looking like that will ever happen. I truly enjoy watching your channel and a few others. If you're spinning your not winning so you have to be hooking to be booking. Stay safe and God bless us all.

Cool! I had a 351W 69 GT Mustang way back when. It's a "Musty-stang" now. Put the 351W back in it. They are just as drivable as anything we have these days and you can put fuel injection on them to make them even more tunable, and drivable. Any wider engine and you are going to have a lot of trouble getting it to fit between the shock towers without cutting them up.

One of my favorite cars was a 1986 Shelby Omni GLH! It stood for goes like hell. It was a cheap Dodge Omni with a turbo 4 that could do 12 off the showroom floor with a few mods. A real sleeper!

I was going to say put a good 347 crate engine or hot 351W (afr heads). but yeah, godzilla if it fits. Coyote won't fit, too wide. They had to move the shock towers on those to fit the boss 429.

Why not put a 5.2L in it? You can pull the factory supercharger off & put a more powerful turbo or procharger on it if you want more than the factory 760hp. Plus the 5.2L is lighter weight. I'm just curious.

Look into what Cleetus and crew have done with McFlurry. Fox body mustang with a Godzilla motor mated up to a Lenco with twin turbos. They did push it a bit too hard and had to do some rebuilding.

i have a 69 fastback. it is a plain jane not a mach 1. the mustang is a 351 cleveland automatic, posi rear end. no power steering ,no power brakes. bought it in the late 70's for $500, and still have it.

Common.. 1968 is not bad. We a bit in common there, I use to restore from 64 1/2 to 72 Mustangs. 👌😉👍 Gotta watch out for those (repops) that don't exactly fit perfectly. 351 Windsor block with 351 Cleveland large valve heads 👍.... P.s. make the unibody full frame. Replace all bushings with polyurethane. IF you can find a 9" Detroit locker for rear end and C4 trans , best set up. By the way, headers were optional (LEAGAL) equipment in the day 👌😉👍 😳 Godzilla? MERCY SAKES !! Your gunna blow the doors off!! 👌🤣👍 better pin that hood and trunk.
