So refreshing to hear real insight from guys who can surf. Nothing worse than hearing WSL commentators who have no experience as WSL competitors speaking to an audience. Pete Mel and Ross (Ronnie n strider ok) are the exception but the others ..... You guys have the respect of us viewers. Barton do you know if you have any indigenous heritage, my uncle is koori and you are a spitting image of him.

Great podcast and commentary. Watching on line, the contest is the most enjoyable to watch, the format makes it interesting and the judging criteria adds an extra element. 'I've always questioned the idea of the perfect score in any discipline, let alone surfing. How can a perfect score be improved upon? the definition of perfect is that it is the best a thing can be, it can't be improved upon. I like the practical solution of being able to better the score. Can anything be read into the absence of female competitors? most of the WSL men and women? Cheers and onwards and upwards for 2024.

Great show as always fellas. The shootout has been a lot of fun to watch. I hope we do get some more good rounds in. And it's too bad the WSL junior championships overlap because I'm sure a couple of those ladies (Erin, Sierra etc) would have loved to compete at the shootout with Moana and Rissa if they could. It must be a terrible rock and a hard place for them to be stuck in and definitely sucks for us fans but maybe next time.

🤙 great to get the insight from you guys and have loved watching the Da Hui shootout! That’s the first I’ve heard about the scores… even though they are not ‘fixed’ it would be great to have a leaderboard and live scores displayed. Also, does it add complexity when judging Moana and Carissa against the guys or is the same scale used. Love your work BL and PK! Footage was so sick too, bettter than what I saw live, cheers

To be honest Barton I’m done with WSL comps I have watched the shootout for 7 years straight and it’s levels above anything from the surfers to the commentators and the good doctor issiah spelt wrong but he is brilliant for talking about the Hawaiian culture and history and duke life 👌the format is amazing I love it the WSL have completely wrecked the tour with the cut and the finals at trestles is shite it’s not fair at all Carissa has been robbed twice now and she was easily the best over the year it should always finish at pipe and Hawaii in solid surf it’s the proving grounds why not run twice at pipe to finish and then start but 3 foot trestle nah ,they shouldn’t have walked away from waves on the first day they had more time to run and the second in my opinion 🤷🏻‍♂️
