Anyone else think the Dark Curse is a metaphor for abusers? All of its symptoms seem to line up pretty well. - Perpetrator is stronger and less aware of their damage while harming another - Is passed onto others (in the Curse’s case, only family) through permanent injury Abusers are impulsive and often hurt others with excessive strength while “in the zone,” and only afterwards do they become apologetic. The mindset of abuse is also often passed onto victims who internalize the behaviors and repeat them towards others (which is why it’s called the cycle of abuse). Seems to line up pretty well with the Dark Curse, though I don’t know if that was intentional or not.

I like that Vivian is more complex now! She’s still all “why doesn’t dad love me?” but now that the really bad stuff is delayed and we get a chance to see her angry at the Thorn kingdom first, and Vixy being kind to her, she now isn’t all “AAAAA CRAZY DAD DAD DAD” but feels like an actual character and a manipulated villain to madness over just an insanity arc. I didn’t like her before, but I do now! (As a villain) She compliments Jackson well and the two bounce off each other’s actions and morals, and I love that! On that note, I also like Vixy more too! I liked her redemption, but it felt so sudden- but now we can see actual emotions before dead kids get involved, and she now feels like a genuine victim of circumstance and bad loyalty.

I don't think much people notice this little detail, but.. at 6:23 you can see a glimpse of Ares and Vivian play-fighting, while Vixy checks Jackson. To me, I think it's a really sweet detail despite Ares being a horrible father. I find it so cute ❤.

I love this version of Jackson. His new design looks cool (although I do miss his old one, as is the case with many other characters). And I LOVE his personality. He’s anxious, he’s kind, and he’s protective of those he loves. Also, Vivian doesn’t deserve a brother like Jackson. She takes advantage of his kindness, and manipulates him to do what she wants. 14:50 Damn, Caroline got a height buff.

Thoughts- Vivian is becoming blind by wanting approval and love from a family that wants to use her and thinks of her as an after thought. And Ares is deeply manipulative. Also it seems the curse seems like a berserk rage sort of thing, and the transfer method is really cool!!

I just started watching this series and I really like it. My favorite part is definitely Ares. The way he creates problems and then uses misinformation about those problems to manipulate people is fantastic. The best example of this is his speech at 10:30. Although he asserts that the Thorns killed Iris, he spends most of the time talking about other points. This way Jackson focuses on these other points and argues against them, causing him to accepts that the Thorns killed Iris without critical thought. He does it again, to a lesser extent, when he accuses Vixy of having divided loyalties. Ares ordered her to get close to Vivian and accuses her of disloyalty for following those orders. When you can take a step back and look at the bigger picture, like we can do as the audience, these manipulations become clear, but by constantly shifting from kindness to violence Ares never gives his targets the chance to take that breather and focus on his lies. It is absolutely amazing in all the wrong ways, if you know what I mean.

I loved this episode I don't think Vivian and Jackson are wrong or right Because we know Ares is lying to them but they don't know about this Vivian wants to be with her own kind (her family) and she's tired of being treated badly for the thorns, Jackson may forgived them but Vivian Did not and that's ok, she's not forced to forgive the ones who treated badly for her entire life, she's just want to feel like she belong and wants to be powerful And we have Jackson side, he is a good boy, he remember his mother words and don't want to hurt anyone, and he knows how to forgive different from Vivian, he Just want to be with hus sister and protect her, and he clearly have reasons to not want to be with his father So no one here is bad

I love the direction the reboot takes - Episode 2 and I already feel immersed into the story and characters. Characters are given way more depth and development: Vivian is obviously jealous of Jackson because her father sees her as a second option and tries to prove herself (she wants to insure herself, by beating Jackson as a way to prove to herself that she's better). Vixy is scolded by Ares for being nice to Vivian and expresses how ridiculous that is - I feel like this makes it perfectly clear she's a rational character, that's going to catch up to Ares' manipulation. Speaking of Ares, despite still being a power hungry brute, the manipulative behavior just gives him the depth that our favorite asshole of a villain needs. Jackson, despite being a pretty caring and shy dude is still seen holding his ground and doing what he believes is right. I love the reboot already and am excited for the next episode. A huge amount of kudos to everyone working on this series.

I agree. It's like "how would've been if things were different". And making Jackson and Vivian the main characters of the reboot makes things very exiting, since they always had the most complex story and personality. Also, I'm loving the way Gal is making the characters. Working more on their personalitys, their goals, their motives, etc. And the new designs are beautiful, the new characters are interesting, this is getting very fun! I'm very curious to know what they're going to make about Rose and Maxwell, and their courses.

This episode was absolutely BEAUTIFUL!! Like I LOVE the backgrounds!! AND VIXY AND VIVIAN BEING HAPPY TO SEE EACH OTHER WAS SO WHOLESOME MY HEART COULDN’T TAKE IT- but then Ares decided to ruin that moment >:c And ATTICUS WAS ADORABLE TOO WHEN THEY BURIED THEMSELF INTO JACKSON’S FUR 🥺 I think Viv still deep down cares about Jackson, especially after seeing how she stopped Ares from giving him the curse. I think she doesn’t truly want to do this, but she has had such a hard past because of Ares, she just wants to become stronger but unfortunately she doesn’t realize this isn’t the way…man Ares is a asshole just like Jackson said, but a very well written manipulator as well. And I’m happy Vixy has a soft side for Viv, she seems to be really sweet to her and seems to truly want to help her get stronger, but neither of them realize that what they’re doing is wrong…and I’m scared about how Vixy and Viv are gonna treat each other in future episodes, after Ares was all like “Yeah, you need to stop being nice now or else you’ll get punished” All that aside, I’m very excited for episode 3! Very well written characters in here

Why do I think the reason Vixy is being nice is to get on the kids good side as it might be easier to get them on their side, while Ares just wanted power, wanted automatic obedience io n this followers. GODD I HAD SUCH A WILD RIDE WITH THIS gave me a lot to think about so let’s break it down. Firstly, MY FAVOURITE little detail is how in the first episode Vixy tells Vivian that she is above the Thorn cats in skill, and then it comes back when Vivian repeats this message to Jackson! Absolutely phenomenal and subtle way of showing how Ares and Vixy have been manipulating her, as well as becoming mentor figures to her. All around the way Vivian behaves towards Ares and Vixy is extremely interesting and understandable. Can’t wait (also terrified) to see how their relationships unfold. Jackson is also super fun to watch, his emotions are in full force and it’s super compelling to watch. Ares is such a shitbag, and I really like the mild amounts of tension between him and Vixy, it keeps you interested in how it’ll develop. That argument between Jackson and Ares is SO GOOD AGH And then we get to see Atticus and Caroline!!!!!!! Can literally not wait to see more of our favourite gay family

Theory time after rewatching this but it seems like this is going towards jackson giving Vivian that brutal face scar. Either vivian instigates a fight with jack or aries makes them face and like here jack doesn't want to fight Vivian or and forgot to mention aries gives Jackson the scar Almost killing him mind you maybe he get traumatized from him giving him his scar and with Vivian trying to fight him and him being significantly larger then her he gives her the scar we see in the intro giving her the curse causing her to go a downward spiral but and villiany tho just a theory i love this i might have already commented but this is beautifully done i plan on making a series in the future and this is a inspiration and got me out of my own artist block keep it up
