Kiss 1st album 1974. I was in Nichols department store flipping through the record racks when I came upon this one. I called my brother over and hey man , check out the clowns. We had a good laugh and I bought it for fun. Thought it would probably be not that bad. The rest is history. Still one of my favourite bands.

After Ed Sullivan, my father predicted that the Beatles would be a flash in the pan. On Christmas Eve1964 I stayed out late with my girlfriend and missed the family dinner. My old man was furious when I walked in, and I did not eat that night. By Christmas morning however, he had calmed down. Under the tree was an obvious record album, wrapped and tagged for me. Pop had bought me Beatle's '65, the vinyl still fresh from Capitol Records. The LP includes one of my all-time fave Beatles songs, "No Reply." Love, (my girlfriend, hi Janna) family, and the Beatles all combined to make for one of the best Christmases ever.

I am an avid reader of science fiction writer, Isaac Asimov and had read his classic I, Robot in the mid 70s. Listening to The Alan Parsons Projects song - I Robot on the San Jose KOME rock station in 1977 and saw the title I, Robot, drew me to the record. I then purchased The Alan Parsons Project vinyl record at Tower Records and then most of the discography on CDs in the 80s. I have been listening to their CDs and vinyl records off and on and into today.

Day 14 This album is by Simon and Garfunkel. It’s the first album that my parents ever gave to me on my birthday. The name of this album is Parsley, Sage, Rosemary, and Thyme. Each one of these herbs have a special meaning in the song “Scarborough Fair/Canticle. This song has a delicate inter weaving of two songs. The album came out in 1966. The meaning behind the words of Parsley was a symbol of death and rebirth. Sage meaning was a healing herb and thought to impart immortality. Rosemary is the herb of remembrance and Thyme is said to give courage. My favorite songs on this album are “Scarborough Fair/Canticle”, “Dangling Conversation”, ”Homeward Bound”, and “For Emily, Where ever I May Find Her”. I’ve played this Lp so much that it is starting to wear out. The cover to this album is still in excellent condition. When I was in college for art in Boston I took this song “A Poem on the Underground Wall” and did an illustration out of it. This illustration is still in my portfolio today.

My story is actually 4 albums, I was born in 1959, was young when the Beatles burst on the scene but can still remember hearing Please Please Me when it came on the radio. However I grew up in a small village in eastern Canada and in a home where my parents listened to old country music and that was mostly my exposure to music except for the radio until I was about 10-11, then my aunt and uncle gave me their old record player(with the 2 speakers that could be detached and moved to the extent of the wire….they also gave me 4 albums, I had never owned my own albums up until then and that started me on my life long passion of rock music and collecting music…the 4 albums(which I still have to this day) were Beatles (Help), Beatles (Rubber Soul), Wayne Fontana and the Mindbenders (Game of Love) and The Outsiders(Time won’t let Me)…..I have loved all 4 of those albums since first listening to them and still do….

Back in 1980 a friend said he had an extra ticket to this band he had been a fan of. The show was at the Long Beach Arena and they were 2nd row seats pretty much right in front of the speakers. How could I pass this up? I had heard of them but didn't know a whole lot of their music. Maybe a song or 2. I went out and bought their newest album. Actually it was a cassette tape. I blasted that thing in my orange '75 Chevy Vega. I knew every word to every song on that album by the time I saw their show. Became one of my all time favorites. The band: AC/DC. Day14-Led Zeppelin-4(untitled). 1976 I was listening to our local radio station. Many good songs were playing on the radio, but this one particular song caught my ear. It was Black Dog by Led Zeppelin. I heard the name of the band, but never heard any of their music. At 9 yrs old and new to rock music,I enjoyed listening to Zeppelin. The vocals, bass, drums and guitar were outstanding. I purchased 4 a couple of years later, after I delved into more of their music. Jimmy Page is still one of my favorite guitarist’s of all time. I now can say I own every album.

It is the spring of 1977 in the UK and glancing through the music papers of the time, I saw a full page trade ad for the debut album by a new band which looked interesting, but no more than that. One Saturday afternoon down on the local sports ground, a group of us are having a game of football (soccer to you guys in the US) and we have a radio tuned to our national pop station that's running down the Billboard top 20. This song (no. 4 or 5 I think it was) comes on with this great hook and chorus and fantastic vocal. Plus it rocks too. I almost forgot about the game just to listen to the song and hear who it was. It was the debut single by the band from the aforementioned trade ad, Feels Like The First Time by FOREIGNER. That Monday during my lunch break I ventured into town to see if I could find a copy of their album in my local record store and there it was. I saw that Feels etc was the opening track and I just took a punt that I wouid like the music as a whole, which I did. It helped that the album begins with Feels Like The First Time and Cold As Ice, and sometimes the needle did not make it past these two great songs, but then the likes of Starrider, Headknocker, Damage Is Done, Long Long Way From Home, At War With The World and I Need You grabbed hold as well. Still my personal 2nd favourite debut album of all and one I wouid put in my overall top 20 classic rock studio albums.

August, 2011: Led Zeppelin (1969) - CD I first heard of Led Zeppelin by my stepfather and also in school. I took guitar classes in 7th grade to senior year of high school. My 7th grade guitar teacher had all these posters in his classroom, one of them is Led Zeppelin’s ‘Stairway to Heaven’ lyrics. I think Stairway to Heaven might have been my first Zeppelin song I ever heard. In August 2011, my dad took me and my sister to Tyson’s Corner Mall in Vienna, VA. I’ll never forget, we went to see ‘Cowboys and Aliens’ at AMC Theaters in the mall. Before we saw the film, I went inside of Barnes and Noble (always my go to spot). I glanced throughout the CD racks and then that’s when I decided to buy a Led Zeppelin album and went with the debut album. The debut album still holds a special place in my heart it’s up there with other classic debut albums.

I had a roommate at one time in my undergraduate days. He brought home a KISS album, all excited and breathless. I took one look at it, with the garish make-up and all, and turned my "refined" tastes nose away. End of story for many years. Until I heard Pete Pardo speak about how much he liked KISS. I am not so rigid with my aesthetic evaluations these days, so I first bought "Destroyer" and was impressed by the musicianship. I have since collected every soundboard release by the official group and most of the original line-up studio LP's. Thanks, Pete, for helping me open my mind a little further.

Not necessarily an album per se...but back in '81 "Tom Sawyer" was all over the radio. I liked it, of course, but I wasn't as big of a fan of the other things I'd heard from them (it was the voice). Then "Signals" came out and the songs were alright, but it was obvious they were going in a softer, more commercial direction. I had decided Rush wasn't for me. Despite the cajoling from friends I stood my ground. Then one evening a friend of mine told me to come over to the house he was baby sitting at, he had something he wanted me to hear. When I arrived he put on a record but wouldn't let me see what it was. It started off with these eerie sound effects before the drums and bass began to announce their presence. Then the guitar...then came the musical onslaught. I was blown away...and we hadn't even got to "The Temples of Syrinx" yet, which launched me into the stratosphere. "2112" made me decide that Rush might be a band I should look further into.

A story you might appreciate, Pete. When I was kid in the mid 90s, I was terrible at listening to my parents. When I was being a particular pain n the butt, I remember my Dad taking out his vinyl copy of Don’t Break The Oath, pointing to the devil on the cover, and saying that he was “coming to get me” if I didn’t be good! That certainly got me to listen! Nowadays I still laugh at that whenever I think of that album!

As a big fan of Deep Purple's now legendary second lineup, I wasn't sure how I'd feel about the band following the departure of lead vocalist Ian Gillan (my favorite singer at that time) and bassist Roger Glover. That is, until I heard the new lineup's debut. Burn was the right title for the album, since the band was on fire! New members Glenn Hughes (who I loved in Trapeze) and David Coverdale (about whom I knew nothing) delivered the goods on this record, which was right on par with Purple's best. Ritchie Blackmore, Ian Paice and Jon Lord were also all in top form. The opening track, "Burn" is raw! You can almost hear the flames crackling when the main riff starts. This was early Metal at its finest! The song also contained some baroque-style progressive parts by Lord and Blackmore. So far, so good. Another great track was "Sail Away". The main riff here was similar to what would later be called Stoner Rock. Other highlights were "Might Just Take Your Life", "You Fool No One", and "What's Going On Here". But my favorite cut on the album was the bluesy epic, "Mistreated". Coverdale has some powerful vocals throughout the album but was never better than on this track. And I love the way that he and Hughes trade off vocals on many of the songs. Hughes was especially adept at keeping the Gillan-style wails alive. However, on "Sail Away", he goes low most of the time. What an amazing feat Deep Purple pulled off on this album. To lose a singer as distinctive and as iconic as and then to make such an outstanding album with a new singer(s) right out of the gate was almost unheard of at that (or any) time. Not only was the mighty Purple back, but one could argue, that with Burn, they were better than ever. 1) The Who - Tommy 2) Rush - All The World's A Stage 3) The Alan Parsons Project - I Robot 4) The Ramones - Ramones 5) Kansas - Leftoverture 6) City Boy - The Day The Earth Caught Fire 7) Jethro Tull - Songs From The Wood 8) Black Sabbath - Sabotage 9) Green Day - American Idiot 10) Allman Brothers Band - Seven Turns 11) Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band - Live Bullet 12) Slade - Slade Alive! 13) The Who - Meaty Beaty Big & Bouncy 14) Deep Purple - Burn

Good morning (afternoon, evening or night), Pete. Fun tale today. Potential parental censorship at our house, too, but that's a story for a different day. Today is something a little more personal than usually posted. Was in an accident in 1978 that resulted in hospitalization from significant and extensive burns. That began more than a year of follow-ups and some plastic surgery here and there. There was a good side to it but it was a challenging time nonetheless. It was around 1980 that one of my closest friends was getting married in California and I flew from Florida to spend a few days before the wedding and see him. He and his fiancé had to leave the apartment for a while on one of those days and I stayed back and browsed his record collection. In it was the 1979 release of Dan Fogelberg's Phoenix album. I had heard one of the singles on the radio so put it on the stereo and went to take a shower. After the Tullamore Dew start, the title track hit the speakers and by the time it got to the lyrics "like a phoenix, I have risen from the flames", that song touched me in a way to remind me to keep moving forward, no matter what obstacles might remain from the accident. One other tune - Face The Fire - was written about nuclear energy - but the title and song also hold a different meaning for me. So though I don't love all the album, this became beloved on that day and I bought myself a copy as soon as I returned to Florida. Apologies for the rambling, but some stories need to be told. Thanks, Pete. Looking forward to your next tale.

He always brought the house down on whatever show he was on. I wanted to get a live album by him. I was lucky to have a choice at that time. Live at The Regal and Live In Cook County Jail. I decided on the Cook County one it came out in 1971 and 2117 convicts enjoyed a heck of a show. Starting out with Everyday I Have The Blues then came How Blue Can You Get other great songs were Worry Worry. 3 O Clock Blues. Sweet 16 and The Thrill Is Gone. He was meant to be seen and heard in a live setting i was fortunate enough to see him twice. Yes Live in Cook County Jail was my first live album by BB but it wasnt the last. Dickie Goodman ... Mr. Jaws The only place that sold records where I was raised in Cleveland's Slavic Village neighborhood in the sixties/early seventies that I recall was the Giant Tiger Department Store. It was near the sole entrance/exit door. As a child, I thought it was huge and strange. Now, I know it was modest and only carried the best-selling records of various genres. It carried 45 singles as well as albums. That was where my sister got her Partridge Family, Bobby Sherman, and Raspberries records. She was the only one in our family with a small record player in her bedroom. Being the younger baby brother, I wanted a record, too. We only listened to the local top 40 pop music station. So that was all the contemporary music I knew at that time. What caught my ear was Dickie Goodman's "drop-in" records. Goodman has been doing these records from before I was born, usually with a partner. Goodman was now a solo act, pretending to be a radio reporter "interviewing" someone. The response to his question would be a line from someone else's hit record. Goodman would ask what someone was going to do tonight, and the response would be KC and The Sunshine Band's "Get Down Tonight." I thought Goodman interviewing the shark from the hit movie, "Jaws," was hilarious. And his Energy Crisis '74 single, too. Goodman had the same problem rappers would have ten, fifteen years later, with sampling other people's hits without asking permission. Goodman died young in 1989. Rest In Peace, Dickie Goodman.

Summer holidays had gone, and I was now in 10th grade of secondary school in September 1971. I found a fresh released album in the shop nearby, which was ALICE COOPER, School’s Out. A little backstory: I’ve got my first radio at age 14 from my grandmother in 1970. Since then, I watched the weekly German single charts, which aired each Friday evening on the "Bayern 1" channel.. 1970 has been a great single chart year on here, with Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Free and Black Sabbath on high success. In 1971, I found a British radio station which allowed me to watch their Top 30 each week. And finally, I found another German radio station, which played the American Top 10 each Saturday night up from 11 pm to midnight time. And it’s been on the American Top 10 in summer 1972, that I first heard Alice Cooper’s single “School’s Out”, by the time it entered the chart at # 10. I instantly loved it. It didn’t take long until it became a big Top 10 hit all over central Europe, peaking at # 5 here in the German charts, and even making it to # 1 in the UK. So, after having seen the album in the shop, I immediately decided to buy it. A few years later, I got the precursor album “Killer” at a flea market for a low price. I loved the songs “Halo Of Flies”, “Under My Thumb” and “My Stars”, which all sounded great. After that time, I started to lose interest at Alice’s music, moving on mostly to prog bands and artists. I know that after all the decades, he’s still around and has kept his vocal strength, and I click at some of his videos on youtube from time to time. Sadly, I have lost the two albums, having loaned them to someone and never got them back. At least, I have the concert DVD from Montreux (2005), with most of his legendary hits and songs on it. It was a good decision to get it, and I’m thinking about trying to get his legendary “Welcome To My Nightmare” concert film from 1975 either. My school time albums discoveries, In chronogical order: day 01: 07/1971 (fav) Led Zeppelin IV, (first) Led Zeppelin III day 02: 08/1971 (fav) Simon & Garfunkel, Bridge Over Troubled Water day 03: 09/1971 (fav) Atomic Rooster, In Hearing Of day 04: 09/1971 (fav) Deep Purple In Rock, (first) Deep Purple, Fireball day 05: 11/1971 (fav) Jethro Tull, Aqualung day 06: 11/1971 (fav) Black Sabbath s/t, (first) Master Of Reality day 07: 12/1971 Jesus Christ Superstar day 08: 01/1972 (fav) Grand Funk, Phoenix, (first) Grand Funk, E Pluribus Funk day 09: 03/1972 The Doors, L.A.Woman day 10: 04/1972 Neil Young, Harvest day 11: 06/1972 (fav) Pink Floyd, Wish You Were Here, (first) Pink Floyd, Meddle day 12: 07/1972 (first/fav) Uriah Heep, Demons And Wizards ("Magician's Birthday" coming very close) day 13: 07/1972 (first) Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Tarkus (fav, maybe) Trilogy day 14: 09/1972 (first) Alice Cooper, School's Out (fav) Alice Cooper, Killer

And I remember a Uncle who had the 8-track of fool for the city and he would play it in his great big old Electra Few years later I remember going to musicland as we were walking through the mall and wanting to get an album but not knowing what I wanted. Dad of course went over and looked at jazz Here was this Black album with footage of members cut out into the cover saying live. And it turned out to be foghat. I remember how cool the live version sounded a slow ride is lonesome Dave would announce it are you ready??? It would be an album I would listen to fairly often for the next few years not quite no one loving the longer stuff I just want to make love to you but I didn't know what that even meant. Fool for the city and Honey hush. Wow fast forward about 7-8 years later into my Stoner years in high school next thing you know I have acquired some foghat albums. Stone blue, fool for the city still having the live one.. And that would pretty much stick with me to this day. many of the band are no longer with us. I did definitely in my early to mid-twenties really get heavily into a lot of that I discovered Savoy Brown and a lot more. I'm glad I have to foghat discography to discography almost all the albums now on cd Although it was about 8 years ago I had to pay a little more to get a rock and roll outlaws to replace a very scratchy record it was only available on CD through an Australian important. But I still remember definitely being a foray into a lot harder rock and roll before I was even 10 years old. 14. The Police - Synchronicity My aunt owned the cassette and LP of this and I remember finding this tape in a case back in 1992, long after she moved out of my grandparents’ house. I played this so much that I eventually wore it out. I knew all the songs from the radio and MTV but never heard a full album from the band until then. Ghost In The Machine is my favorite Police album but this is right up there with it. Hell, all 5 albums are excellent to my ears! As most people know, the cassette and CD have a bonus track (Murder By Numbers) and that’s one of my absolute favorite songs. I know Every Breath You Take has been played to death for over the past 41 years but I still love it.

Don't Fear the Reaper was the only Blue Oyster Cult song I knew, it appeared on an American rock compilation album I had. I lacked a lot of musical culture, and the truth is that I was more interested in Nwobhm and European heavy metal than in American bands, except for Kiss, of course. So when I saw the Extraterrestrial Live tape at a good price, I didn't hesitate to buy it. The cover was great and it had thirteen tracks, which was a lot back then. And of course, as soon as the first notes of Dominance and Submission sounded, I was pretty impressed. Bought Cultösaurus Erectus shortly after. What a blast!

One of my favorite hobbies, no matter where I lived, was going to stereo shops. I'd even pop into a RadioShack or Pacific Stereo if that's all that was around. When I was 14 the best one was in a red brick building downtown (it's now a brew pub). They never through me out, even though I was just a kid, because I didn't f' around. For me it was like going to church, so I was well behaved. One time I took my step-bro Ed there to show him some cool flat panel electrostatic speakers they had. The salesman wanted us to listen to some speakers they had just acquired. A pair of vintage JBL theater speakers. They were these huge cabinets with 18" woofers and massive horn tweeters. They were set up in the listening room. He put Dark Side of the Moon on a Denon turn table through a McIntosh receiver/Amp. It was the first time I had ever listened to it start to finish. Mind blown. Still one of my best musical experiences.🔊🎶

Killers - Iron Maiden 1981 freshman year at HS. This was the album that i would blast on my boombox to piss off all the Deadheads at any party or gathering. I grew up in a town where there were very few metal fans and always were being ridiculed by the wannabe hippie Dead fans who thought Jerry Garcia was a god. I used to delight in drowning out their endless boring Dead jams with this killer album.

Day 14 is The Silver Screen the fifth studio album by the American heavy metal band Ice Nine Kills, released on October 5, 2018, by Fearless Records. Much like their previous album where all tracks were inspired by different novels, all the tracks are inspired by horror films. Some examples of the source material are; A Nightmare on Elm Street ("The American Nightmare"), Friday the 13th ("Thank God It's Friday"), and The Texas Chain Saw Massacre ("Savages"). The album features guest appearances by the band's former singer Jeremy Schwartz, Tony Lovato of Mest, actress Chelsea Talmadge, Randy Strohmeyer of Finch, Buddy Schaub and Peter "JR" Wasilewski of Less Than Jake, Will Salazar of Fenix TX, and Stanley Kubrick's grandson Sam Kubrick of the UK band Shields. The album marked their highest chart positions in the US, debuting at number 29 on the Billboard 200 and number two on the Hard Rock Albums chart. "A Grave Mistake" became the band's first top ten hit on the Billboard Mainstream Rock charts. This is the final album to feature guitarist and vocalist Justin DeBlieck, as well as bassist Justin Morrow, who departed from the band in March 2019 to join Motionless in White. So in 2018 i was and still am a big horror fan(thanks to Pete Fir getting me into King Diamond as i watched his King Diamond videos). I was looking to do a horror album marathon that year and when i saw my friends searching this band Ice Nine Kills in my AV Shop in College. I asked her who they were. She told me if i was a big horror fan they were a newer band who did songs band based off horror movies. I watched The American Nightmares with her first which was based off A Nightmare on Elm Street and Then Thank God its Friday which represents Friday the 13th(which was my favorites horror movie) . I would then listen to the whole album and i would then listen to the next album rught after which is the Sequel to this album. Afterwards i would fall in love with this band and album and i would to this day have this band play through the Halloween season.Five music videos have been released in which lead singer Spencer Charnas visits a psychologist after experiencing dreams based on the songs ("The American Nightmare", "Thank God It's Friday", "A Grave Mistake", "Stabbing in the Dark", "IT Is the End"). A sixth video was also released, though this one takes place in Christmas of 1993, when Charnas was a child and celebrating Christmas Day with his parents ("Merry Axe-Mas"). A deluxe reissue edition titled The Silver Scream: Final Cut was released on October 25, 2019. The reissue contains bonus tracks including the band’s cover of Michael Jackson's hit song, "Thriller", a song about the Scream horror film series, one live track, and three acoustic tracks. Definitely shows which era I grew up in with this pick and might not be an overly popular one for this channel, but I had always heard singles from it and enjoyed what I heard back when I was in high school, but I gained an even bigger appreciation for it when I heard the full album and the whole concept album side really clicked with me when I briefly lived in Richmond, VA, and some of it hits on a more emotional level since Chester Bennington's death in 2017. #1: The Who's Tommy (1969) #2: RX Bandits' ...And the Battle Begun (2006) #3: Metallica's ...And Justice For All (1988) #4: Pink Floyd's The Wall (1979) #5: Daft Punk's Alive 2007 #6: Yes's Close to the Edge (1972) #7: Genesis's The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway (1974) #8: Arcade Fire's Funeral (2004) #9: Silverchair's Diorama (2002) #10: Green Day's American Idiot (2004) #11: The Killers' Hot Fuss (2004) #12: Death's Symbolic (1995) #13: Radiohead's Kid A (2000) #14: Linkin Park's A Thousand Suns (2010)

Hi everyone, still cant paste in the story I wanted to do yesterday so Im just going to type in a shorter version and hope it works I drove up to Nottingham with a mate for a gig shortly after my birthday and we had time to kill before the gig and i had a £20 HMV gift voucher to use up, so, for the drive back, I acquired two new albums, one by a mega metal band only a few days after realease, the other from which Id heard one song but, liked it Gig over (BOB CATLEY) we headed back, playibg both albums on the way. Ultimately one made my top 10 of the year list, rhe other was lucky not to be chucked under the wheels of a passing freight lorry One was Fallen by EVANESCENCE, th other was St Anger...

Fall 1977 was a major period of hearing new music for me. I had been suffocating in the top 40 and disco of Rochester NY, then went back to college in Massachusetts where punk was exploding. It seems like every week I heard something new. One of my hallmates had a Sire records sampler, and played one song over and over, from a band he didn’t really like except that song. He called them “young Soviets play harmless music.” The band was Talking Heads. The song was not “Psycho Killer,” but “Don’t Worry About the Government.” It wasn’t until “More Songs about Buildings and Food” that I really got into the heads. But that was introduction to them.

Day 14. Jefferson Airplane - Volunteers I first heard a few songs from this record on a post Woodstock show hosted by Dick Cavett. The band played Wooden Ships (w/ David Crosby), Somebody To Love and Volunteers. Then, I read a review of the record in Downbeat that gave it a 5-star review. I had to buy it and when i spun it I was not disappointed. To me, this was their finest record. Of their catalog it is the one I consistantly listen to. 1. John Coltrane - A Love Supreme 2. Iron Butterfly - In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida 3. Steppenwolf - S/T 4. Mason Proffit - Wanted 5. Miles Davis - Jack Johnson 6. Ornette Coleman - Dancing In Your Head 7. The Doors - S/T 8. Bride - Scarecrow Messiah 9. Rahsaan Roland Kirk - Bright Moments 10. Delaney and Bonnie and Friends - On Tour 11. Tower of Power - East Bay Grease 12. Paul Butterfield Blues Band - East/West 13. There used to be a metal mailorder record store called the Record Exchange. I think they were based out of Walnut Creek, CA. Back in the early 80's I'd get a monthly catalog from them and they quickly became my go-to when it came to buying any kind of metal that was not in the American mainstream. Imports and domestic as well. The overwhelming majority of purchases were total blind buys. Mostly just based on the descriptions in the catalog. This album was one of those blind buys. Now back then, I was just a sophomore in high school and worked a minimum wage job at McDonald's. So once a month, I'd order a handful of metal albums from there and have them delivered UPS C.O.D. As soon as school would let out, I'd race home to see if the UPS guy had come and left a pickup notice. Man, the anticipation of delivery day was always off the charts. lol. More often than not, I'd have to ride my moped to the UPS warehouse and pickup my new jams. I remember putting this on my turntable for the first time and being blown away. The vocals, production, lyrics and imagery scared the shit out of me but in a good way. It was love at first listen. The following year, while still in school and with the help of my English teacher, I landed a Friday night slot at my local radio station. I played this album relentlessly on my show in those early days and turned a lot of metalhead kids in the area onto Mercyful Fate. I never got to see them live but I was fortunate enough to catch King Diamond on numerous tours between 87-91. This album is a five-star classic and still a regular in my metal playlists. \m/ \m/

I first heard Slayer when they were featured on a TV program about heavy metal that was shown around Christmas 1989 I think it was. The program featured live clips of South of Heaven, Mandatory Suicide, Raining Blood and I think Silent Scream. I went out and bought South of Heaven and it was the fastest and heaviest music I’d ever listened to, like Pete was saying about Don’t Break the Oath at first I was scared of the album. Listening to it I literally thought “Am I going mad ?”. Shortly afterwards I bought Reign in Blood and towards the end of 1990 Seasons in The Abyss came out ! Absolutely brilliant ! 🇬🇧

Joy Division/Bauhaus - Mix Tape (1979-83) One of my most prized dubbed tapes in high school was this hissy tenth generation tape, a brilliant introduction to both bands with their best songs on each side. On the surface I was a skinny, braces-and-glasses wearing A-student dork, co-captain in cross country and track but no girlfriend, and no cool clothes. Yet inside I had more than a bit of smouldering goth brewing inside, which I didn't know the means to express beyond my writing until I discovered thrift stores in college and put together my own psychedelic post-punk style.

Back in the 70s I was a huge Aerosmith fan and I was bummed when Joe Perry &;Brad Whitford left the band in 1979. I was even more bummed when the Joe Perry Project & Whitford/St Holmes albums sucked and n̈o Aerosmith albums or concerts(@ least in San Diego) from 1979‐1981. Then in January 1982 I saw Aerosmith and Pat Travers at the Long Beach Arena. I remember being excited to hear the new guitarists and songs. After being very impressed I couldn't wait to get a new Aerosmith album. When the Rock In A Hard Place album came out I rushed out to buy it. After listening to it once I was sold. It is a near perfect album with only the last song on the album Push Comes To Shove being a disappointment. I saw this lineup twice in 1983 and loved them but I wasn't aware of how bad Steven Tyler's drug addiction was at the time. His addiction was the reason the band didn't record or tour all that time. It wasn't long after I saw them that lineup dissolved. I'm sad that we didn't get more albums from this lineup especially after hearing the music that the band started making after the return of Perry and Whitford. I highly recommend you checkout the KZbin videos of the Jimmy Crespo and Rick Dufay lineup as well as some of the interviews with Crespo and Dufay.
