Fun fact: Dassa Ben-Ami's name has an interesting metaphorical meaning, when one understands what the name means. "Dassa" is short for Hadassah, which means Myrtle in Hebrew, but also an alternative name for Esther. Her surname, Ben-Ami, translates to, Son of my People. Or "Son of my Nation" in Hebrew. So this person, who is "One of the People" carries the name of the Jewish Queen who put herself directly in danger to save others, and help bring light and liberation to her people in impossible odds - and furthermore- the Book of Esther, story of the holiday of Purim, is literally a record written by Esther herself. Much like Dassa records what happened, in the Fallout universe. Helps add a bit more life and flavour to this small flourish of a character :)

I understand the bitterness and lashing out at others - it's something we all do at times yet know it's not alright - and she's clearly in need of comfort and understanding as to what she's gone through, but she's always been the one I wouldn't have wanted to meet if this had been a normal Fallout game.

I still don't understand how anyone survived the amount of nukes detonating in Appalachia
@tinaherr38562 жыл бұрын
Life finds a way. Appalachia wasn't hit nearly as bad as other places. A more meta explanation is that radiation works differently than the real world, and nuclear weapons are more advanced.
@royalpain63382 жыл бұрын
Contrary to popular belief it's pretty easy to survive a nuclear blast, especially the air burst warheads we use in our world. For fallout it's hard to say if the bombs work the same way explosion wise, based on some of the craters we see in game fallout nukes seem to have a super low yield. For the airbursts you only need to be a few meters underground even in the center of the explosion, radiation is also a non-factor for the most part as the airburst is so powerful the radiation gets blown way up into the air and can't really settle. The issue is the fallout warheads have to be something like a cobalt bomb due to how many rads you take in some areas.
@GemmaLB2 жыл бұрын
There weren't very many in the Great War, there's a pair of craters where a military structure used to be (now the Foundation Outpost) the prewar resident of Johnson's Acre describes a mushroom cloud and there's one South of Mama Dolce's. For context, there are places in Fallout 3 that are covered in craters. For a map the size of Fallout 76's (it's most of WV) that isn't much, and the nukes in Fallout are low powered compared to our world's nukes. Post-war of course the place gets nuked all the time, but the NPCs just put on a hazmat suit and carry on.

Let's take a minute to give respect to Kesha. Think about this. They first hear about the Responders in a radio from Flatwoods. The bombs fell in 2077. Flatwoods camp wasn't established after the Christmas flood drove them out of Charleston in 2082 and before 2086 when they reached thier height of influence. So Kesha kept these teenagers safe and lead them for somewhere between 5-8 years. Almost guaranteed to also in that time to have children (since the original high schoolers would be in their early 20s by then). Then to have a almost eventful trek from somewhere through who knows how dangerous area. Since we know how dangerous the Cranberry Glads area are. Then figuring out the water problem there. *The only broken lore here though is that she was supposed to have been in Watoga when the bombs fell doing a science fair. But other lore established that the Operation Free Watoga attack that reprogrammed the Watoga bots to be violent was done the day before the bombs dropped. So I doubt that they would just have proceeded on with the Science Fair like normal while that chaos was going on.

The funny thing is, all the cool edgelords kn reddit, KZbin, and Facebook all agreed; it would be easy all bethasda had to do was build an online game, and since they're so good at environmental story telling, they wouldn't even hadta have NPCs. Bethasda listened to the fans. They gave them EXACTLY what they asked for, and all they did was trash talk Bethasda and say, "How could you make a game like this, Hoi suck." When the truth of the matter is, they gave you what you wanted, and you bitched and cried about it. He'll half the comments on here are people still bitching.
