The Storm Theme - Percy's Promise (Series 2)

Hello everyone,
has this idea for a while but it didn't really come into play until I seen this photo edit (courtesy of @StarTugTen on Twitter). Percy's Promise is an episode that should've been done for S2, it would've made sense given Percy Takes The Plunge and not to mention how much Percy took the spotlight in the second series.

Personally I'd have just kept it as per Series 1, where they didn't sensibly attempt to adapt too much in one go. We could have had an even match of original and tie-in stories adapted for Series 2, and more experimentation on David Mitton's part in bringing to life stories like this one, and just a more gradual and natural build-up of audience expectations, instead of having so much coming at them at once. Just works better for me by the sound of it. Heck I wouldn't have minded Britt Allcroft trying to develop some original characters to balance the gender ratio at this point in the series, if only she had the gut to not put so much weight of respect for Wilbert Awdry against herself. When they had an extra episode because they canceled the Missing Coach, they should have adapted this instead of Thomas, Percy And The Coal. Though really they should have never canceled the Missing Coach, based on what we know almost the whole thing was filmed.

@@WouldNotPokeThat This episode was originally planned for adaption in season 2, concluding the Percy the small engine story arc. My guess is they probably dropped this one because Gordon Goes Foreign was cancelled due to budget restraints, following Double Header’s cancellation since it references the former, and they didn’t want to cancel Percy Takes the Plunge because it was the only one left in the “Eight Famous Engines” story arc, so they kept that one in favor of dropping Percy’s Promise

What would've been. What should've been. I can just imagine the ending with Percy triumphantly rolling past the Elsbridge Yard sheds with A&C and into the station where Thomas is waiting with three tan coaches in tow! I love that you rewrote the ditty where Percy stops in the middle of the flood to be more in tune with the S2 style, rather than follow the original note for note. That kind of attention to detail is what makes this special!

Epic theme! I have heard that Percy's Promise and Double Header (Time for Trouble) were originally going to be a part of S2 until being pushed to S3 (probably b/c in favor of Christopher Awdry's stories). If this episode were in that season, this is the version of the Storm theme we would've imagined if it were played that way.

If I could change at least one thing in the TV Series. It would have been to change the episodes “The Runaway” and “Percy’s Promise” around meaning “Percy’s Promise” should been S2 EP 10 and “The Runaway” should been S3 EP 2. In other words, Percy’s Promise” should be before “Percy takes the Plunge” in S2 and “The Runaway” should be before “Time for Trouble” in S3.
