I was gonna say this in a community post but figured I'd just do it here I will be covering Dam It at some point in the near future. It looks like a very fun campaign to break down, as someone who hasn't played a lot of custom campaigns, it was a lot of fun and doing a video on it sounds way better than it did 2 months ago. Breaking down the stories behind the custom campaigns is an idea that I've had and it's certainly a possibility for a future videos. I have a few Left 4 Dead videos planned for the future, centered around the lore and I cannot wait to get started. Thank you again for your support throughout this series. The reason why the cows are dead and faces skinned, is because thats how people used to test for mad cow disease. So the survivors and others are checking to see if their livestock is infected
@Dukesparrow199913 күн бұрын
Which makes the scenario even more sinister as they were desperately trying to figure out if the lifestock was the cause of the infection, which by then it was already futile as the infection was far from contained and things just got worse and worse

Another thing im sad you didn't notice; The farmhouse "safehaven" probably had to be set up very very late into the Green Flu's spread. Unlike most safehavens in L4D, where they clearly had SOME sort of oversight with Militaria weapons or tanks or even fucking artillery cannons.. That's just a fucking farmhouse. Like, no joke, just a plain farmhouse some family lived in. They have a damn baby crib in the house. All they have to defend it against infected is some goddamn barb-wire and a radio that was dead for 6-10 days. If that doesn't speak rushed job, idk what will.

An interesting thing about that map in the farmhouse, is that it shows all the campaign’s locations. (The base texture doesn’t have the blood splatter) Fairfield, Riverside, Newburg, and the Allegheny forest are quite literally within walking distance of eachother, being at most an hour or two on foot from one another. Unfortunately, that doesn’t line up with any of the real-life geography we know of (Like Philadelphia or irl Riverside), so it’s unclear whether that map is canon or just a beta leftover.
@MyUsersDarkАй бұрын
I'd say it's definitely from the beta, since Bill in the comic says "We fought our way here from Philly", y'know?
@ImNotConz16 күн бұрын
Ik I'm late but it randomly crossed my mind I spent like 6 hours tryna find some kind of match and couldn't find anything. Started at the Kinzua Dam and worked out word from every direction, no luck. Most likely a fictional map with no real geographical matchs but it still bugs me from time to time. There are like 4 different maps if you go back to the Death Toll campaign.
@JAiZYouTube16 күн бұрын
@@ImNotConz It's very likely a fictional area located near the "NORTHEAST SAFETY ZONE MIDATL E/D 400-15" on that map in Crash Course. So, while there's probably no direct irl counterpart to it, we can give the fictional cities a general irl location on the edge of the Allegheny national forest. Though, there's still a discreptancy with Philadelphia being the confirmed origin location of the survivors in the comic. Philadelphia would have to be really close to the national forest in the game's universe for that to make sense. I'm pretty sure some (if not all) of those smaller maps are leftover beta content, but it's unfortunately impossible to be sure which are and which aren't.

@caporegimeclutch9715Ай бұрын
An interesting detail about this campaign that I like is that you can see through wall graffiti and evac notices that people were still talking about the evacuation centers and cities we’ve already encountered (Riverside, Newburg, etc). It’s interesting to see people talking about places that WE know have been overrun or abandoned, but the survivors attempting to fell the national forest area did not. I like to imagine groups of survivors basically taking the opposite path as the survivors we play as, going from the forest and heading to Newburg, then Riverside and then Fairfield because they heard that those cities were still safe.

Funfact that no one wanted: The abbreviation for PZ in german stands for Panzer (Tank) but due to the vehicle beeing an APC and not a tank this is strange. The old school german abbreviation for apc would be SD.Kfz (Sonderkraftfahrzeug) the modern one would be TPZ (Truppentransporter ) I absolutely adore your l4d videos❤
@youmukonpaku3168Ай бұрын
sonderkraftfahrzeug is more like "special purpose vehicle." Panzer-whatever is still armored, the tank is "panzerkampfwagen", a term you'd be familiar with in US military designation as "armored fighting vehicle" (direct translation, even.) It is pretty weird for the APC to be marked in what appears to be German, given it's allegedly an American (or maybe Canadian) vehicle but most resembles a Czech OT-64. Edit: maybe it's meant to be Finnish and they didn't check their translation? Panser... is the root for armored vehicles in Finnish and it does also resemble a Patria.

@@youmukonpaku3168 it's a german TPz Fuchs APC, i would guess the PZ means it's part of an armored formation also if im not mistaken Germany stoped designating Vehicles SDKFZ (number) since WW2, because you know... they don't need to hide that they have armored vehicles

Yeah, see, he was drivin' over it late at night and there, in the middle of the bridge, was what looked like, in Keith's estimation, like a dead bear. So Keith gets out of his to find, like, a stick to poke at it, right? We'll, it turns out it's just some lady's fur coat that musta fell out of her car, so... free coat, right? Now, owls won't normally attack a man but in this case they were hungry, and that made them reckless. Keith reckons they must've been therefor hours, watchin' what they thought was a bear carcass, cause as soon as he picked it up, those owls had claws in him an inch deep. We'll Keith figures his best bet'll be to jump in the lake, cause owls can't swim. Well, them owls could. He fought them for twenty minutes, treading water, and during that time, a boat came, the bridge went up, and down went Keith's car. Sometimes nature's just tryin' to teach us, if only we'd listen.
