Great piece of Australian world beating engineering, with Phil Irving being the genius behind the design.

This is the 1967 engine which he had no involvement in

@@stephenscholes4758 1966 fits more with production based block, Jack both driver and constructor title and the Richmond factory. Richmond was closed and development shifted to Maidstone by 1967. Single overhead cam original Oldsmobile based motor. All Phil Irving involved. Later unsuccessful motors less so.

@@johnd8892 Sure but THIS video centres around the 1967 engine, the block and heads being designed by Norm Wilson and Brian Heard. Which later engines? The quad cam was a flop in GP racing but not in larger capacity with Frank Matich where it dominated.

@@stephenscholes4758 was there ever a book written on the engine design variants rather than the racing?

A world beater made in Richmond. My grandmother was born in Richmond, and I was there just the other day. I'd love to visit the site of the old workshop. And go Tigers!

Single OHC. Although less powerful tan the complex engines manufactured by the opposition, the engine was lightweight, reliable and easy to maintain.

This was back when some smarts and hard work could beat the cars with ridiculous large budgets. It seems to me the Repco-Brabham victories of 1966 and 1967 were the end of an era in F1, when the smart ones had a chance against the rich ones. I think you have to be both now.

sad doesn't cover it, this was a disgraceful lose of talent when our 'leaders' let all this marvelous expertise die out ,now we're so busy drowning in bs we can't make a thing
