The Tiesto mix was the key to making it absolutely perfect to me. It is an explanation to trance detractors when they ask why I like that kind of music so much. It makes me feel melancholic yet uplifted, nostalgic yet hopeful, calm yet excited at other times. Pretty incredible feat.

Thank you! I usually mainly focus on the story behind track, since that is the whole point of my KZbin channel, but whenever there's time, I try to ask some other questions too. For this interview I had like 20 minutes, but we were already running a bit late. Paul had to go to a meeting afterwards, so we were a little bit in a rush so I did only focus on the things that (in my opinion) were the most important things to ask. Hopefully I can do 1 or more interviews next time he's in The Netherlands, which is not often unfortunately, took me a while to make this one happen too BTW ;-) But, very happy with the result, super nice and down to earth guy and really friendly and polite!

Awesome 🙂👌🏻💫. I was looking forward to this one with Paul Oakenfold, one of the greatest of all time. I really enjoyed it 🌌. The videos & interviews that we can watch and enjoy in this fantastic channel are extraordinary. Not only do we get to know a lot of information, curiosities, anecdotes and details behind many legendary electronic music tracks & artists, but we can also learn interesting and usefuls things from it and within the spheres of music, music production, DJing and some other ones. This interview to Paul Oakenfold is really good and useful 🙂👌🏻⭐👍🏻. He opens himself in such an enriching, generous and humble manner, for us to know, to understand and to learn from his deep knowledge, vision, experience and talent. Oakenfold is such a true electronic music (and music) living legend. His influence, contributions, DJing, music productions and legacy are extraordinary. He has had a big influence and impact in many artists, music producers / music creators, DJs and music & electronic music lovers and that alone is priceless. Moreover, Paul Oakenfold is one of the very few chosen ones who can be considered the godfathers, or fathers, or creators of Trance music. He is one of the main ones who opened doors and led the way when Trance music was born, and in its later & further development and success, with a lot of talent, vision, dedication and hard work. In addition, he has managed to show the way to so many that came after him. It is amazing. Hence, he is a true music, electronic music & Trance music living legend. Electronic music & Trance music, and its fans and supporters (like myself), owe a lot to Paul Oakenfold. Also to other great Electronic music and Trance music artists, DJs & producers, some of them already big electronic music & Trance music legends (like Oakenfold) as well, such as the following: Paul van Dyk, Armin van Buuren, Ferry Corsten, Markus Schulz, Airwave, LNG, Giuseppe Ottaviani, NU NRG, Franky Jones, Yves Deruyter, Axel Stephenson, Humate, Pascal FEOS / Resistance D, Petar Dundov / Unreal, ATB, Lange, Fire & Ice, Tiësto, Kamaya Painters, Above and Beyond, Ayla, M.I.K.E. Push, Airbase, Akesson, Simon Patterson, Gareth Emery, Paragliders, The Thrillseekers, Chicane, ReOrder, Aly & Fila, Orkidea, Sean Tyas, Ralph Fridge, B.B.E., Criss Source, Wavetraxx, Unknown Source, Energy 52, Three Drives, Blue Alphabet, Velocity, Emmanuel Top, Der Dritte Raum, Age Of Love, Jam & Spoon, Nalin & Kane, Caucassus, Robert Miles, Andy Blueman, Talla 2XLC, RAM, Jorn van Deynhoven, Marco V, Leon Bolier, Simon O'Shine, Estiva, Gary Proud, Menno de Jong, Sander van Doorn, John O'Callaghan, Solarstone, Arksun, Vincent de Moor, Sven Väth, A.R.D.I., Accendo, Moonman, Maria Healy, Kanski, Joe Shadows, Adam Nickey, Orion, Sundawner, Thr3shold, Rex Mundi, Afternova, Agnelli & Nelson, Arty / Alpha 9, John Askew, Cygnus X, Daniel Kandi, Timo Pralle, Signum, Siberian Sun, Jono Grant, Gaia, Temple One, Sunny Lax, Jon O'Bir, Ilya Soloviev, Midway, Rafael Frost, Thomas Datt, Rank 1, Icone, Arctic Moon, David Forbes, Orjan Nilsen, Nifra, KhoMha, Matt Skyer, Tuomas J, HH, Robert Nickson and many others. Great job Twan and many thanks for another excellent video & interview. You are doing a fantastic job with your channel Muzikxpress, dude, with lots of hard work, effort & dedication and also thanks to your love and passion for good music and for high-quality electronic music. 🎛🎚🎵🎶🚀🌌 As a final comment, I would love to watch an interview from you to 'El Maestro' (the master) and legend Paul van Dyk. For example, about his superb tracks 'For an Angel' or 'Forbidden Fruit'. Or about his sublime recent SHINE remix of the legendary tune 'Energy 52 - Café del Mar'. Paul van Dyk is my all-time favourite electronic music & Trance music DJ and producer, he is such a living legend, I love his music and his DJ performances, he enables you to live and enjoy thrilling musical journeys with huge mastery, like not many. Cheers for such good videos and interviews man 🍻. For many more to come. :) Best wishes and all the best, from me. Greetings. Listen to good music!. 🙂🎛🎚🎵🎶🚀🌌 Arlantix (Alber Tito)

Thank you! I did try to get an interview with PvD twice already but unfortunately I did not get the answer I was hoping for, so I don’t think it will happen unfortunately….

@@muzikxpress Ah, I see. But Paul van Dyk should be happy to be interviewed by you, I believe, as your interviews are really good, with relevant questions. For what I know, Paul is a great man, a down to Earth (humble) musician, artist, producer and DJ, a true music lover and, of course, a legend of both electronic music and Trance music. He is also one of the pioneers of Trance music. Maybe one day that interview with him could happen and that would be fantastic. At any rate, you have already had the chance and privilege to interview various top electronic music producers, DJs, musicians and artists, including some of the greatest of all time such as Jean-Michel Jarre, Paul Oakenfold, Ferry Corsten, Armin and Giuseppe Ottaviani, to name a few. That is amazing dude, so, again, well done. Thank you and congrats for these awesome interviews Twan, keep up the good work buddy. For many more to come 🍻. A big salute. :)

@@Arlantix oh I met Paul lots of times and he’s a great guy for sure, but keep in mind not every artist likes to talk about the past. I’ve had other people telling me “no” as well since they only feel like talking about current stuff and future plans. I always ask about that too of course, but the main thing about my channel is to hear the stories behind the classics. Of course I’ll respect if they don’t feel like talking about the classics, but of course it’s a bit of a shame too. Anyway, enough awesome interviews coming up and plenty in the works too!

Great interview with a great and humble man. I actually do like what he says about the industry, that its too much tracks and djs. And with Tiktok, Twitch and all that, we will see so-called djs rise and push out the good ones. Social media will win unfortenately. I will sure check out the album he mention in the last section as Im a score listener too, specially game music.

Glad you enjoyed the interview! And indeed, social media followers / presence etc seems more important than music itself these days unfortunately….

Wow, thanks Twan. Paul's Goa Mix to this day is the reason i love Trance...this was an epic scoop for you...was it sorted before or did you get lucky at Lumi!?

Thank you! We sorted this like a week before the festival with his press agent and manager (but thanks to his bookings agent, who I know hehe), so I had my questions etc all prepared. After his gig I quickly went to say "hello" and said that I would meet him the day after for the interview. And he said he was looking forward to it, so I slept a bit better haha! He was very friendly and as you can see in the interview, he was in a good mood, loved his stories! Really happy about this one!
