The Story Behind The Giant Tee Pee Near Lawrence, Kansas

For years I have wondered what is the story behind the giant Tee Pee near Lawrence, Kansas on the junction of U.S. Highway 24, 40 and 59? Well I searched the world of the internet and the story behind the almost 100 year old roadside attraction did not disappoint.
CORRECTION: In the video I state there were once 14 rental tee pees. That was the plan but it actually never happened. The three rental tee pees that were washed out in the 1935 flood were the only ones that were built.

According to my friend Rick Balda, his uncle painted the original designs on the Tee Pee. Rick's father was from Ecuador but I don't know if he was referring to his Mom's brother or his father's brother. It would be nice to verify the original painter of the Tee Pee structure.
