Dracula's Mori has indeed a reference to a castlevania scene, specifically the "What is a man?" One with the way he throws the glass being pretty much the same way he does before saying "But enough talk, have at you!" And Merchant's is a reference to her lore, since in the lore it shows her doing the exact mori, but in the lore she cuts her victim in half at the end instead of just dropping them

The fact that skull drops the survivors implies she might seem them as lower than human and not worth putting in so much effort. She does love going for the highest of highs and while she can still kill freely, even some powerful people, most are average joes so she might not care as much, which could also explain why she seems so emotionless, she doesn’t care as much for randoms over people like Jane or Felix

I would of talked about Naughty Bear's Mori, as it's technically a reference to his game. In that game, when he weakens a bear enough, he can either do an execution or scare them. He has hundreds of different executions for different kill methods with creative titles from the Narrator, while the "Boo" at the end is his signature line, a cry he makes to scare the other bears. In a sense you can say Naughty Bear's executions were inspiration for Dead by Daylight's Mori's

It's probably just a coincidence that it looks like this but the thing I like about Bubba's mori is at the end when he holds his chainsaw up and does his funny shriek. It reminds me of Tusken Raiders from Star Wars where they do a similar thing, holding their weapons above their heads and screaming an animalistic-like chant.

Castlevania Fan here, it is correct that Dracula's Mori is a reference to the iconic "What is a Man?" line but another thing to note is the major differences between regular and True Form Drac's moris. When Drac is in Regular Form, he barely puts in effort, hence why it's a quick mori. The only reason Drac would turn into the True Form is when his opponent is someone he shouldn't underestimate, hence why the mori is much more brutal. The only times he ever uses the True Form is whenever he gets bested by the Belmonts

I saw Carmina's mori as something slightly. I saw it as Carmina intentionally trying to get rid of the entity influence inside her by putting it in the survivor. Hence also the crow bursting out to return to Carmina. Notice also how she almost looks shocked and then tries to wave the crows (aka the entity influence) away from her. To me it is Carmina trying to rid herself of her demons, only for said demons to come bursting out towards her again. This also extends to her power I think, where the ink crows are the entity influence (hence why they can ignore standard trial rules) to cleanse herself, only for the crows to come back and infect her still.

7:49 you were very close with this one, but it's a different death animation for jill that dbd based the mori off, one where he stomps, and then actually smooshs his foot around. ( and I think the first tenticle part of the mori is a reference to brad's death in the original RE 3 )
@pokeaust7800Ай бұрын
I have a theory that Unknown’s mori is how it steals the identities of its victims. It places special interest in the Survivors’ faces with the tentacles, like it’s analyzing and absorbing the aspects of their being it can use to further lure future victims.

Pyramid head’s final judgment is a direct reference to the way he attacks James in their first boss fight in SH2, with big, overhead swings
@avian1799Ай бұрын
To add to Vecna‘s Mori, it may be a direct reference to one of his signature Spells, Rotten Fate. The Survivor is „engulfed in necrotic magic“, represented by the skeletons, and are then literally pulled apart, which very well could be the result of a failed constitution saving throw. The remaining skeleton is very similar to the Necrotic ones, so its not a stretch to say that they are added to his undead forces in some way (normally by becoming zombified, the DbD version more likely just another skeleton to shoot)

on Legion's mori, a cool thing to point out is that they do 4 attacks before the survivor dies, the first misses the neck and they do a flourish, then a stab to the arm, a stab through the ankle, and finally, once in the chest for the actual kill! Sadly, they missed the chance to make all the knife attacks be where the Legion members stabbed the janitor, but its still pretty neat

Chucky’s mori is exactly that he’s reenacting some of his OG kills, the hammer is the one he threw at aunt Maggie making fall out the window and land on a car, the baseball bat is the one he used to knock out Andy trying to transfer his soul into his body and he would end up using to beat detective Mike with, and the yard stick is the same one he used to kill the teacher in the second film, and of course the knife he uses can be a reference to any of his knife kills but the ones I think they reference most are the ones from Curse of Chucky the sixth film which he uses a knife that looks like the same one he uses here. Another thing I’d like to point out also is it shows he’s clear enjoyment of what he does and the fear he puts into others taking a line from the films “I love being me and I love my job, especially the look on my victims face when they realize it’s all really happening, a children’s toy is actually beating them to death with a yard stick, or setting them on fire, eviscerating them, all actually explains” these are lines said by the three chuckys in Cult of Chucky which like the mori shows chucky’s love for what he does and the fear he causes when people see a living doll is trying to kill them.

I always thought it was weird that the Oni gets upset when people call him, well, an Oni. That was a pretty common way to describe a fearsome warrior in Japan. For example there was a general who served Shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu and fought in the major conflict of the time, named Ii Naomasa who was nicknamed "The Red Demon" for his striking red armor and he actually embraced it, his helmet was made to have giant horns on it, I seriously recommend you google his armor to see just how wacky it was. There's a lot of other examples as well, most Samurai seemed to embrace it as it was an acknowledgement of how unbelievably terrifying they are to fight in battle.

Pyramid Head’s mini-mori is a reference to how he attacks in his first boss fight from the original Silent Hill 2. It even transitions to a similar fixed angle. I really hope that the mobile exclusive mori's come to the main game since it is shutting down. Especially Trapper, Hillbilly's and Huntress' are better Also I will note that I think Wraith's and one of Plague's mobile mori's do have some symbolism Wraith's doesn't look that special at first, but when you think about it, it's pretty similar to how he executed his boss. A very slow death that eventually popped the spine or neck Meanwhile one of Plague's has her gouging out the survivor's eyes, which could be in reference to her own blind devotion to her faith
@Blight_mainАй бұрын
I noticed something about Blight's mori, usually everyone who injected that serum would become a monster mutant, but as we saw in mori, he only had bubbles come out of his body, which means Talbot he may have managed to get two versions of the serum, I think he tried to develop more lasting power without mutating (my theory) Maybe that's why the entity was not happy with his impression and threw him into the void 🤷

4:26 iirc the Entity prefers when the killers do sacrifices and doesn't particularly like when they kill by their own hand. I really like Knight’s Mori because it really shows what the Ghost Gang is capable of, and what makes them unique. The Assassin just stabs the Survivor, very calm, collected but efficient. The Jailer burns the Survivor, and laughs, which shows how he enjoys harming his foes. The Carnifex slams the Survivor down with his huge blade, so strong that it brings the Survivor to their knees. And lastly, Knight finishes off the Survivor brutally. It’s just a really good bit of subtle storytelling/character building. It gives you a good look at who they are, even if Knights lore doesn’t cover them that much.
