Alec' backstory makes me cry all the time, as does Magnus'. But the fact that Alec was based on Miss Clare's gay friend who committed suicide, and this gives him an alternate universe happy ending of finding his Magnus makes it so bittersweet imo P.S. I also get Alec. As a pansexual Asian, I relate to the conflict of 'duty' and my true self. I'm leaning heavily on truth, but the pull of duty still lingers. So I feel for Alec a lot more than Magnus

I loved Alec every second he was on screen. He's disciplined, level-headed, and strong willed, but not without empathy or compassion. He keeps an open-mind and adapts and evolves as he learns. He addresses his mistakes and expresses himself without shame, and when it comes to those he loves, no one can come close to comparing to his courage when he fights for them. Him and Magnus were my favorite characters in the series, the fact they're a couple sent me over the moon lol. I've heard things about the books that make me quite apprehensive about reading them, but I think I can push through if it means I get more of the two; individually and together.

God Izzy and especially Jace annoyed me in the 1st season. They could be so self involved and blind to how much Alec was dealing with. At least Izzy tried to understand. Alec was not perfect, letting Meliorn get arrested was awful, lying to Magnus was the worst, he was flawed, but he was the best of them.

i lowkey hated jace in the first season. he was so self focused and selfish, especially when it came to alec, he didn't even try to understand how much and what he was going through, while making it harder for him by asking for so much and not apreciating or even realizing how much alec was doing for him. not everyone's perfect, actually no one is, people make mistakes, especially when they feel alone and overworked, and jace just couldn't accept that. he got better, but magnus was the only one who ever really understood and apreciated what alec had gone through

Ugjgujgugjfufjfuh I got so annoyed on Jace and Izzy in the first season. They was so self involved they only noticed Alec’s “ mistakes “, Alec always cared about everyone except himself. He did everything he could to help his friends and his family. And he was still not good enough. And then Magnus showed up, showed him that he is good enough, and that he his worth so much more. Alec had so much pressure of his parents when he was younger and he was raised to be a leader and a warrior and only that, he cared so much about about others that when a accident happened to someone that wasn’t his fault he could die from the feelings of guilt. He blamed everything on him, Because he’s used to that it’s his fault. Jace came in to his life and Alec had to be the shadow of Jace’s talents. And I love the scene when Alec says “ I’m not ur shadow anymore” to Jace. Jace is an amazing character too. I just love Alec for the person he his.
