CZ's get a lot of unnecessary hate. Sure, they're no diamond, but they're actually a lot nicer than what people give them credit for. The main caveat is that the edges of the faces round over a little too fast. The upside is that they're super cheap to replace.

I love the respect you have for this material. Just cruised through cos I bought a cubic zirconia earring today for like $20 and wondered how it compares to diamond, and after watching this I am very happy with my purchase. A diamond's value comes largely from a false economy and the ethics of it's acquisition are highly questionable. Rock on cubic zirconia wooo

Very cool materials and nicely presented but I just noticed a mistake at 6:32, where the TGO should refer to Al2O3, which grows on the top of metallic bond coat to provide oxidation resistance and adhesion to the top coat which is made of YSZ with a tetragonal prime phase (t') rather than a cubic phase. Thanks.

Fun fact - yttrium is named after a place in Sweden called Ytterby, and y in Swedish is pronounced like I in most other languages, so it should be pronounced like itrium, not jitrium. No biggie though.Thanks for the video, it was very enlightening.

In india seller says that are fake diamond and are made from glass. And they have very very cheap price, nearly 50 to 100 rupees or near about 1 $ for one CZ.... But I thanks this video to make me clear my thoughts about this CZ that it has its unique properties and material. ❤😊

Now that I'm coming back to rewatch these videos I will leave a comment xd. There's one mineral which is highly transparent and has a refractive index even greater than that of diamond: moissanite. Described by Wikipedia as having an adamantine or metallic luster, it is way cheaper since it can be made synthetically pretty easly. Naturally occurring stones of this material often have a yellowish tint.

Only things that are just as hard or harder than cubic zirconia can scratch it. Some things include emery cloth, scratch proof glass that’s used on watches, and other gems and materials that are used for jewelry: tungsten carbide, ruby, sapphire, diamond (anything harder than an 8.5 on the moh’s scale). It can also get scratched with another cubic zirconia. With that being said, will using it in day to day life really cause scratches? Sheets won’t scratch it. Clothes won’t. Water won’t (although it could get cloudy but that can be fixed with cleaning). All in all it’s a hard and durable stone! People have used other stones (emerald, morganite) as diamond alternatives and those are even softer (more prone to scratches)!
