I think there's often a misconception of LA when it comes to weather and scenery. LA is a city with a lot of buildings and the weather is usually cooler than in other surrounding areas. I live in the suburbs near the city and it's slightly warmer here. I think that there are definitely better places in SoCal than LA.

Palm Springs in nice, but don't even go there in the summer. Sooooo hot! Essentially, you are in the desert. This time of year is good, as the shops are all open and the weather is usually pretty perfect! Have fun!

I'm from San Diego. ... it's a beach town not too far away from where you are at. normally this time of year it will start getting very very cold in Palm Springs because it's the desert. Joshua tree is an amazing place to go camping but lots of people go there to do mushrooms FYI lol trolley up Palm Springs mountain is AMAZING TOO !!!!!! sending luv
