these are important because i used to think these bands would die without a whimper. i still listen to all these bands, Beau Navire, Boy Problems, Maudlin, Loma, Funeral Diner, etc, etc.

someone totally unconnected with our small town screamo scene found my band that only played a few shows. Totally unaware, they found the stuff we did at 16 that I always thought was something special. It’s amazing. the mid-aughts were the dark ages of screamo, all the big bands were broken up except like, Circle Takes the Square

IWHACIYY was a huge part of high school for me (and I live in Wisconsin!). Thanks for taking the time to give this criminally obscure project the documentary treatment they deserve; I can totally relate to that feeling of [re]discovery mentioned at the start of the video. There were a lot of bands that were sort of lost to time following the big MySpace data loss some decade or so ago. If you want to dive into something similarly obscure, I’d love to see you do a video about Edward Bostitch. They were this short-lived ‘band’ of teenagers that made really unique-sounding lo-fi sort of music and recently there was a big push in terms of recovering songs of theirs that were once thought lost. You can find what’s been recovered here on KZbin; these guys never released a vinyl LP or any physical media AFAIK so I’d argue they’re even more obscure than IWHACIYY.
