@kingskelett62657 ай бұрын
There is a fanfic called Lunacy about exactly this. It’s really good. And also yeah, Adaine, especially at the beginning, has a horrible time. Her family treats her even worse because her parents and really most of Fallinel treats Werewolves as a plague and not people. Her transforming is also tied heavily to her emotional state, to the point of her transforming into wolf quite often when panicking or feeling anxious. The actual hybrid form is when she becomes very aggressive and then she loses pretty much all control. It goes right up to and past sophmore year, though junior year isn’t accounted anymore. The story is finished and I would recommend. (It is a bit long, fair warning)

Jawbone is an incredible example of my favorite kind of npc that I have both as a player and as a DM. He's just a random NPC who was supposed to have little to no impact on the story, he was a nameless enemy that they were meant to fight until he was given attention by the players. The players paid attention to him and through improvisation he becomes a full character with a name, arc and backstory. My favorite npc I ever used as a DM was a guard that the party interrogated in a dungeon. He was later recruited by the Rogue into a pirate crew, he bought a tavern that he ran and sent a little bit of money the party's way every time they were in town. One time, the party was in extreme danger at the end of a session and I ended up giving him this huge moment where he awakened latent dragons blood on his veins (he was adopted and never knew his biological parents) and he literally learned that he was descended from this ancient Dragon sage who had sealed Tiamat and that his blood was necessary for the enemy cult to acquire in order to break the seal on Tiamat. I later planned the rest of the campaign around finding other descendants of the sages (one for each metallic dragon color, this guy was Copper because it fit best with his personality). It's awesome where these random ass characters with zero planning can go and I always love to see them.
@misti-step2 жыл бұрын
that sounds awesome!! yeah one of my favorite parts of being a dm is that no matter how much you plan, you can still be suprised by your own story thanks to the players and the dice!

Jawbone is a perfect example of a nameless NPC who, through the actions of the players, was given a face, a name, and a bigger role in the narrative. Like, perfect example from a campaign I was in: We had this one guy who ran an odds and ends shop, real quasimodo lookin' fella, didn't really have a story to him beforehand, but when we all met and got to know him, he turned out to be this amazing person that we all just kind of accepted as our go-to merchant for all things weird and nifty. And his bigger role? Well, he ended up getting this little card case, yeah? We buy it, thinking "ooh, these will be fancy", and after some research/magical identification, it turned out that this thing was a fucking Deck of Many Things. Dude just had an artifact with him, and he thought it was a pretty deck of cards.

Well in my experience there are 2. You have your regular counselor and your guidance one who yeah helps with jobs and stuff. Regular counselors again in my experience at least are for kids with an iep(learning disabilities) that help with therapy and coping methods. Most of the time optional. I’d imagine Brennan just clumped them together for simplicity’s sake.
