My favourite thing about Gilear is that despite his life being absolutely abysmal he doesn't have the problem of his daughter not loving him. In fact, Fig definitely loves him too much and puts him in incredible danger by desperately wanting to take him everywhere.

13:32 The way Gilear just flat out tells Fabian to stfu and the following clip of him asking for Hallariel’s hand in marriage from her dad shows the one strength Gilear has. He’s so pathetic, he’s been at such a low point for so long, but it’s taught him what it’s like to be so low that he can recognize it in others. He can sense weakness, and knowing how easily pushed around he is he knows what he can get away with. The moment he sees someone getting anywhere near his level he pounces and it’s absolutely brutal. Is this manipulative and cruel and morally wrong? Yes. Does Gilear deserve it at this point? Also yes. Brennan is the god of his world and is actively trying to kill him and torment him whenever possible, he needs every win he can get.

See I saw this scene as Gilear living with a lot of high energy, incredibly powerful people who can and do frequently hurt him without any consequence. Her dad, her son, probably her devil husband (who i guess they’re still technically married?) are all pathetic too. You deserve Love, Gilear!

His panic and what he did was so strange they believed he may have been casting a complex spell. Up top. He thinks someone has spiked his stew with drugs. It’s just the first food he’s eaten that’s not dairy based in 30 years. They get it, they both get it, they’re the throwup boys! He spits the apple out. He was doing a little trick for himself! He was mostly watching the van for that.
