Jose Mojica was my great-grandmother's cousin. My great-grandmother was born in Toliman, Jalisco Mexico a town near to San Gabriel also known as Venustiano Carranza, the town where Jose Mojica was born. Very well done video Mr. gmdinformation. I will show it to my mother.

Thank you so much for this amazingly uplifting story! I just tonight "stumbled" across Jose Mojica's voice on other YT videos, and fell in love with his voice, as I am a singer and an opera lover, and had never heard of him before. Singers of now days don't compare to those of yesteryear, so when I heard him, I searched for more and came across yours. His conversion story was even greater than his singing!! Especially hearing that it was brought about by an appearance of St. Teresa of Avila, who was also a major influence in my own life! This video has given me a real appreciation and connection to Father Mojica! Thank you!

Great video. Thank you for sharing your discovery and making it OUR discovery of a great singer and human being. I was blessed to visit the monastery in Lima, Peru and seing the humble burial site where he lays. Your video is a great homage to this sincere and humble Catholic priest.

Jose Mojica was cousin (primo hermano) to my grandfather Benito Mojica whom had married Juanita Mascorro, my grandmother early last century. There were three sons from that marriage, Benito, Fransisco and Maria Magdalena. Maria Magdalena being my mother married Fernando Herrera Avila, and so I became the third born out of four siblings, Fernando, Rene, Guillermo and Maria Magdalena my sister. In my boyhood, I remember my parents talking much about Jose Mojica. My older brothers, Fernando and Rene along with my parents had the best recollection of good times with uncle (tio) Mojica as they were invited to various parties with famous people. I was born in 1949, so - kinda missed out on the family gatherings with Jose and the last time we as family saw Jose Mojica was in 1964 at the Cheetah theater in Chicago. Thereafter we lost track of him as JM returned to Lima, Peru until his passing. I only have one picture with uncle Mojica carrying Rene in his arms, Fernando my brother next to him looking up, my mother Maria Magdalena on one side and Juanita Mojica Mascorro on the opposite side in an open field at JM mansion in Jalisco. My interest in this write up is for general history information. Guillermo Herrera Mojica.

If that’s the case, then we are relatives, as my father, Arturo Mojica was his cousin. My family has several pictures with José from those years. It would be interesting exchanging information about our family. Since my father passed away, we lost all traces to the Mojica’s relatives.

Sorry for the long delay in replaying. I've not been well. The song is called "Una Furtiva Lagrima." The flip side is "Lolita."

beautiful voice, was a very handsome man; I loved listening to his records, one of my favorite songs was "Ni de dia ni de noche" .... puedo olvidar un momento, las palabras de carino, que me supiste fingir, fueron como ojitas secas, de esas que se lleva el viento, etc etc etc

Fantastic storry! By the life and friends of José Mojica, you can find out most of mexico's XX century musical history: Edison's Mexican origen (alba is he's father's name), Maria geever's firs success on song, singed by José Mojica; and perhaps the most important teacher of voice for the XX century in Mexico: José Pierson, whom managed to teach and place Mojica (and many more great voces) on the stage....

By "copy" do you mean an audio recording of it? Or do you mean an actual disc? I don't have another disc. I can make a recording of this one eventually, but am not in a position to right now. The disc and phonograph are in storage at my sister's house at the moment, and it would be very hard to get to them. I will try to in a couple of weeks though and get back to you.

Thank you very much for uploading this video! I am an admirer of Jose Mojica and their recordings. Could you provide me a copy of this Edison diamond disc please? I have some recordings of Mojica on stamps RCA Victrola and Edison, but not this record. Phonographic material could exchange via email. I'd appreciate it infinitely. Greetings from Mexico!

Fascinating, and beautifully done. Did you find anything in your researches about one of his loves - Ada Falcon? Another who left the world of fame to become a recluse and live within the protection of the church.

Man, when you follow where you're led you'll never know what you'll find. How can anyone argue that God didn't have a part in your obscure discovery here? As Stan Laurel once said, "You can lead a horse to water, but a pencil must be led."

Thanks for responding. My English is not good. Indeed, I mean a digital copy (mp3 or wma) we can exchange via email. I have some albums in 78 rpm Mojica as I mentioned, all I can digitizing to swap with you. Take your time and I appreciate the attention, I hope you can make the copy. Greetings!
