Well Kaine is the replicant of someone who was a half Legion, the Legion were people infected with the Queen Beast's maso and would turn into monsters if they gave in, Kaine is kinda the exception since her Gestalt was born with Maso through science before the Project.

In Drakengard 3 we find out dragons can make a wish when they die.I like to think it was for the two souls to be reborn together in a cycle. The creator of nier referred to Saṃsāra when talking about the games too with the gestalt project making them into 4. Michael + Zero Mikhail + Zero Husband + Kali (Her husband was described personality wise like Emil, very little english content) Nier + Kaine (Yang) Yonah + Emil (Yin) ????? + A2 9S + 2B (Some of the first lines of the game are about the cycle of rebirth)

My theory, (which i'm listing as follows, even though it mentions some things you did), is that by the time of Automata, maso/magic are so intertwined with technology (look at the pod attacks, the red eye logic virus, Eve's tattoo, etc.) that it isn't recognized as magic, its just the way the technology/world works. I think a major concentration of this magic/maso is in the black cubes made from the machine cores. I think it is due to this that androids can be a singularity.

Magic was already being integrated with technology as shown in replicant's ending E with the Administrators stating how the Kaine clones and the technology of the forest was made using Maso.

One thing that’s always confused me about the English localization and Japanese dub is the difference in terms. Let me explain. In Japanese and English Tyrann says that Kaine can become human again the Japanese and English are almost identical: 自らの存在と引き替えに、 カイネを人間にする。 Exchange your existence for Kaine’s humanity. I know that Kaine’s Gestalt/Human soul was very lady like and not vulgar at all based on the CD drama and therefore it’s easy to assume that it’s Replicant Kaine in Route E (duh) HOWEVER in the English localization they taunt and torment her calling her Replicant Kaine…the Japanese dub never even mentions her name let alone that she’s a Replicant they just refer to her as you (君) and 彼女(she/her) as they talk about her. So I never understood why they needed to make that distinction now unless it was important to later in the story in something that we wouldn’t understand in English unless the distinction was made…so did I miss something?

I assume you're referring to the Administrators's interactions within Kaine, as for specifically calling her out as a Replicant, they also do this in the Lost World novel that Ending E is based on, where they say she has gone "beyond on the limits of Replicants". So I think the distinction is their reason why they decided to collect combat data on her.

@9:43 - This is a fan headcanon that I likely started when I went to the stage play back in 2014. However, No2/A2 has nothing to do with Kaine. And still fans continue to propagate this inaccurate statement. Nothing about Kaine was used in the construction or development of A2 or any other YoRHa. @10:30 - There is no literal connection between Kaine and Zero. They are both Singularities, as are others in Automata as well, but they have no direct or indirect connection between each other. They are merely individuals that cause or trigger the timeline to split, creating an entirely new timeline.

I certainly would not presume to state anything that is not outright exposited to be absolute fact but my reasoning is thus: 1. Androids of A2 generation had personality data based on real people with A2's personality data was based on a girl who lived with her grandmother. This obviously is vague and could be just about anyone. 2. Kaine's encounter with the AI custodians was centered around them collecting data on her. While files were definitely made on many other people either from the same network or other sources that YoRHa accumulated, which were used as the blueprint for the other androids, I doubt the list of candidates is that extensive considering how little old world data remains. As an in universe explanation I find this fairly convincing. Out of universe, obviously re-purposing character animations is simply a smart thing to do from a development perspective, and the simplest answer is Yoko Taro likes rude women with swords. However the fact that Replicant Ending E from the Lost World was added to the remake following the success of Automata makes me think that they are retroactively alluding to this.
