The Story of Killzone in anticipation of Killzone Shadow Fall

This video is a summary of the events that happened over the course of the Killzone Trilogy. Included are clips from all three games as well as commentary filling in the gaps. Get up to date on what happened in the first three parts before the Killzone 4 - Shadow fall comes out this fall. It might also be a nice refresher for those of you who played the games but forgot all the twists and turns of the plot.

I kinda feel sorry for the Helghan people since they are the ones being oppressed by the ISA. They sucessfully adapted to an hostile world and created a massive and superior army seeking revenge. So you are playing as the bad guys here when you play as ISA. ISA is not the good ones.

I recall playing Killzone 1 on the PS2 Right when it came out. And SPECIFICALLY remember that they Damn near had to delay the game for the PS3 Because it was almost to much for the console to even handle. I can vouche... It ALMOST should have been delayed, I got INCREDIBLE in game Lag, often. But never the less, that is such a masterpiece of a game.

Agreed, given the capabilities of the PS2 it is amazing they were able to pull it off. I had the same reaction when the GTA V and the Last Of Us came out for PS3 a platform that has been around for the better part of the decade.

Privat3Kag3 Both are pretty amazing games. You can probably score a cheap PS3 off Craigslist and the TLOU for about $100, play the game and sell the whole bundle for the same money a month later :)

I somewhat found that the Helghast had some similarity to Nazi Germany. Both nations and their mindset were a product of a past conflict. Both they'er populations were desperate to get out of the crippling economy that they were in. Therefore, ignorant chose a leader that would promise change for the betterment of the people, but probably not the best overall. Both start another war to erase the embarrassment from the last war in which they have endured. Now does that mean the Helgahast are evil, no, but as I said. Given the overall situation that the Helghast population were in, they were motivated to do anything to get out of it.

From the story it makes it seem like the ISA are the good guys but if you read through the lore and back story the ISA seem to be undoubtedly the bed guys. Dure the helghast look evil because they are pale, bald, and wear badass looking armor but they were victimized by the ISA who forced them to survive on a hostile planet. The ISA attacked first then screams victim after the helghast rightfully strike back.

Well done great summary. I just finished shadow fall, and wondered if every KZ had such a horrible Story. Lokks like the Backgroundstory itself is interessting, but the Games leak the ability to put it in the right light. Maybe the secound game should have showed the events from the eyes of a Helgan.

if you watch the full cut-scene of them getting onto the cruisers (Last video of my Killzone 3 playlist starting @ 10 min 50 sec in) you can see that all the remaining ISA forces including Narville get strapped in to what look like troop/passenger seats. I assume those are in the cruisers piloted by Sev, Rico and Jammer. So the assumption is that if the two cruisers made it out so did the remainder of the ISA forces on board. That is my thinking.

(but a bit unfortunately, this youtuber here on his own video....was too quick on explaining the KZ universe's and galaxy's/franchise's Timeline Lore much. so, a bit understandable that you ashwin got too lost at some point here on this old recap video from back then, hm). '-I don't see any templars her-'. yeah. you are right. in the canon of KZ's games (the Campaign, surface Gameplay's portrayals I mean) Jan never had the chance to even confront Scolar himself (once, at the very capital of that Blasted planet's (no pun intended. Hah) is pacified by the OP:ARCHANGEL forces anyways) because he....well....& alongside Evelyn herself too....hrm.... yeah. (that includes most of the important folks that would also see to themselves personally towards that now hypothetically chained up/taken away-ing Scolar Visari, probably too). anyways, no. I agree. it was the next 'action hero' role himself (Tomas) instead. Alpha squad's (first, anyways. all while Jason, Hooper, etc were still closely catching up to Tomas and Rico there in the old helghan corp administration leaders' chamber). .... Just beat KSF after never having played the previous installments. I felt like they did a very old job including newcomers to the franchise. I wish I would have played the previous games I loved this story and gameplay was much more entertaining than other FPS's I usually play (along with bioshock)

They never mention Luger in either KZ 2 or 3 as far as i could tell. Both Rico and Templar made it into the sequels, but not her. Maybe she was on the mission so secret they could not tell us about it LOL. She might pop up somewhere in KZSF, who knows :)

killzone wiki...His name is a wordplay on Joseph Stalin's name, in addition to Stalin and Stahl both meaning steel. Stahl is German for "steel" which suits him perfectly as he owns the weapons company Stahl Arms...Stahl seems to be partially inspired by Joseph Goebbels, one of the leaders of Nazi Germany....................... i always felt that he was kinda based on staln, hitler and the nazi's

Good work on the vid. Until now I've been an Xbox guy, but I'm making the switch with the PS4. Killzone looked good, but I love to play games for their story, and I hate missing out on anything. Thanks for helping me get the important stuff. Anyone else think their on the wrong team? The Helghast seem like the victims in all of this. Sure, they dress like future Nazis, but it all just feels wrong. It seems like the ISA just got upset that the Helgan Co. did so well with planets that no one expected them to, so they go back on their word and start a war! Plus, Rico seems like an ass.

First of all welcome to the Playstation Nation! I do agree with your point about the Helghast. They do seem like the victims especially in the beginning when they are forced off their home planet. All they are trying to do after is reclaim what was theirs to begin with and protect their new home. Despite being dressed as "future nazis" i don't think of them as evil with one exception: Stahl. That was one crazy bastard.

I did not forget. Both Liberation and Mercenary are releases for portables and are not really part of the main story line that was released for consoles. They do have their own good stories, but they just did not tie in nicely to what i was trying to say in this video.

5UP4Geek Liberation is taking place 2 month after the original killzone where helgast stole the nuclear weapons they use in killzone 2. haven't play mercenary but i was told it toke play during killzone 2 and there are some connection

Agreed, the story of the Liberation does tie in with the rest, but not essential. Additionally i do not have a PSP nor do i own any footage of the Liberation gameplay so therefore i did not include it here. I probably could have mentioned something about it though :). Oh well.
