Today, I dive into part of London's past, and talk about 5 of the many, many abandoned Tube stations and give an explanation as to how and why they failed.

At 1:30, I divided the cost of the repairs by the amount Aldwych was losing TfL every year. Obviously this doesn't make any sense, and I should have realised before uploading. Thanks to one of the viewers for pointing this out to me 👍

There are around 40 abandoned stations on the network so I could only really do a few in one video

2:23 You have a mistake in your video. You talk about Charring Cross originally opening up as a Bakerloo Line station in 1906 and Nortthern Line station in 1907, but that station has nothing to do with the Jubilee Line. When the Jubilee Line was built the construction site was to the north of Trafalgar Square and the station tunnels were built to connect the Bakeloo Line station at that time called Trafalgar Square to the Northern Line station at that time called Strand. The two combined stations were then renamed Charring Cross and the station that was called Charring Cross was renamed Embankment. So, if you want to talk about what was there before the Fleet Line project, you need to be looking up details of Trafalgar Square Station and Strand Station (taking into account that Strand Station on the Northern Line was not the same Picadiilly Liine station that was renamed from Strand to Aldwich). There is quite a lot of name reshuffling in the Charring Cross and Strand area. If you are lucky you can find old enamel route maps that have bits of metal bolted on top of the original station names, to show the new names.

Am I wrong to believe that the Piccadilly line has the most abandoned stations?

It's probably the Metropolitan Line, which depending on what you count as an abandoned station has between 19 and 35.
