I still believe the E.M.M.I were designed to deal with Samus if she ever decided to turn against the Galactic Federation. It’s too much of a coincidence that none of her weapons were effective against them. Those things were built to counter her.

Not just that but each one was built with something extra to keep up with Samus. Going thru small morphball spaces, one that had ice capabilities, one electrical and to keep up to her speed boost. Yeah the federation is definitely hiding something.

Therefore, they likely just dropped it, but decided that they needed to come up with a way to take her out if she becomes too much of a pain.

It's doubtful tbh. Samus has been the sole person to defeat pretty much any and all galactic threats. Space pirates, Krad, Metroids, X parasite, etc she's needed and not just to help defeat any and all threats, she's the only human with Metroid and CHOZO DNA. She's far too unique.

My thoughts on the Story of Metroid after finishing Dread: 1) Raven Beak showcased wings for the first time - something that was considered an evolutionary loss for most Chozo. 2) Samus is now effectively a Human-Metroid, distinctly different from Dark Samus (Dark Samus being a Humanoid Metroid using Samus' Phazon suit for a basis). 3) She has full faculty of her Metroid powers, thanks to absorbing the X parasite that took over Quiet Robe (Originally the subrace of Chozo capable of reigning in Metroids). 4) All of her Metroid abilities manifest through her powersuit. Her powersuit is bonded to her DNA and is equally influenced by her physical and emotional state. 5) The Galactic Federation has created robots capable of subduing Samus, as well as using aspects of her abilities as a baseline. 6) There is still a dark side to the Galactic Federation conducting illegal experiments. It is expected that they will seek to manipulate or obtain Samus' DNA in the future. 7) Samus' Ship and Adam (the onboard AI)was provided by the Galactic Federation. As hinted at in Metroid Fusion and somewhat in Dread, Adam is not solely dedicated to the wellbeing of Samus, thus it's possible that it will provide information about her to the GF. 8) Metroid: Dread (and Fusion to a lesser extent) has now associated the franchise title to Samus Aran as the individual herself, now that she has genetically evolved to become a Metroid. The series has now gone full circle, changing the Hunter into the Hunted.

I think fusion and dread does a good job of protarying the galactic federation. Just like what a real super power would be yes you have people make stupid decisions and yes you have the darks sides but they are powerful like a galactic federation can be. Researching and creating tech to put pace Samus.

I don't think she now has her Metroids abilities though, I'll copy paste what i said in another comment. Well considering that Adam mentioned that the thoha DNA slowed down the process of her Metroid DNA taking over (basically counter acting the effects of the Metroid DNA) I'd assume that the DNA that she absorbed of the X quiet robe has regressed her DNA to the point of the start of the game. Her Metroid DNA didn't activate until she met Raven beak because Metroids are basically programmed to kill that one tribe (said by Adam) so now with nothing being able to trigger it since all of the chozos are dead, I'd assume that she'll just stay the way she is. As to why the X did that? Well by doing that it basically eliminated her true Metroid potential which could easily eliminate Xs in the blink of an eye with her beam (as shown when she destroyed the X Raven), if any X were to survive Metroid Samus would've been too dangerous for it's species.

@@TheBreadmeister you made an error. Thoha genes wouldn't invalidate the Metroid DNA but rather force it to submit. If anything, she'd theoretically be able to trigger the Metroid DNA and subsequent abilities much like a super Saiyan mode, rage mode, or devil trigger.

Couple of corrections, 1) Raven Beak (RB) at the end decided to instead of separating the Metroid's DNA from Samus to clone Samus since she had become the most powerful warrior in existence. 2) the two reasons RB's plan were put in delay are correct but not in the right order, his warriors became infected and then Samus eliminate the Metroid. 3) when Samus reaches her ship she doesn't touch it because she can overload it but the opposite, if she touches it she will drain the ship's energy

It's actually really nice how consistent the Metroid timeline is. I think that really helped the story feel exciting and impactful in Dread. I do hope we get to see more living Chozo survivors in future titles and details on this Chozo civil war.

Hear me out people: During the final stages of fusion, It was confirmed by Samus that the X copy the body, mind and consciousness, but NOT the soul. There was even an event where Samus had to fight an X copying a human scientist from overriding the space station boiler room. Seeing the way X behaved after copying Quiet Robe Chozo confirmed it for me: The Chozo scientists are special. Special in a way that they know certain things that others don't, even the other Chozo tribes. Which makes me respect them even more, there is a GOOD REASON why the Chozo scientists wanted to destroy the metroids. Because they knew: THEY KNEW what would happen if they were allowed to live; wars, catastrophic damage, even people like Raven beak wanting to use them. We've seen this in so many of the previous games: space pirates, Ridley, Mother Brain, Metroid Prime and even the Galactic federation breeding program in Metroid Fusion.This could also explain why Samus' previous X infection was slower: BECAUSE SHE HAD THOHA CHOZO GENES THAT SLOWED THE PROCESS! The scientists knew, they saw much further into the future!!! R.I.P Quiet Robe

I love the story of Dread since it expanded the lore of the Chozo and Samus' genetic enhancements. Also leads to the question of the nature of the behavior of the X Parasites since the infected Quite Robe reverted back to one and reverted Samus' Metroid Suit back to normal.

So let me get this straight, first Samus is infused with Chozo DNA when she was a child. Then later on she gets infused with Metroid energy/DNA in Super Metroid. Afterwards she gets infected with X which infects her noticeably slower then any other living being. Then she gets infused with even MORE Metroid DNA to counter the X. And in Dread her Metroid powers start to take over her body and it takes a Chozo/X fusion to stabilize her? Wtf...

Fun fact about the company that made the E.M.M.I. they are called "Exelion corporations" and Exelion was a planet that was explorable in the overlooked game Federation Force. The planet was similar to hoth from star wars as it was a snow planet that the Federation used to own but they had to leave as the cold weather and fauna caused too many issues.

It didn't make much sense for Kraid to be resurrected on ZDR. Since his inclusion in Other M and Fusion was dropped; having him in Dread was a decent fanbase throwback. As someone who hasn’t followed the Metroid storylines that closely, Dread’s story was okay, but didn’t surprise me all that much. I really liked the environmental storytelling found in the backgrounds of the various locations; it made me think of the environmental storytelling used in Breath of the Wild, and I think that’s a very good thing. I am a bit disappointed with how abruptly the game ended after Samus escaped the planet; I was hoping to witness some of Samus’ thoughts regarding the whole ordeal, but instead the game just ended, similar to how Enslaved: Odyssey to the West just abruptly ended. What I _REALLY_ loved about this game was how much of a badass Samus was the entire time; it was a superbly accurate depitction of Samus’ skills as a warrior and how much stronger she became over the years.

In my opinion, it was a really cool story. It was very interesting to see living Chozo and Raven Beak was a great villain. It was also pretty cool how, despite the fact that the game is a sequel to Fusion, it also feels like a sequel to Samus Returns. Nonetheless, there's two thoughts I've had for these last days since I first knew Dread's story. First, after the events of Other M and Fusion, everyone expected that the Galactic Federation (at least the corrupt faction) would try to hunt Samus for disobeying them and that the story would turn a little more political. At first, the E.M.M.I. seemed to fit that, but no, Raven Beak was behind them and he has nothing to do with the Galactic Federation. Second, according to Sakamoto, Dread would be the end of the "Metroid Arc" and its story would give us an idea of where the story could go in future2D games. As for the end of the arc, I guess the fact that the Metroids, the X parasite, and the Chozo are all dead, the connection with Samus Returns and Fusion, as well the Raven Beak revelation and Samus becoming a Metroid herself do the job, but I just don't see any hint of where the story could lead in future games. In contrast, and again, we seemed to have a clearer idea of where the story could go at the end of Fusion, but Dread went in the direction of exploring the Chozo history and factions. In the end though, don't misunderstand me, I love Dread's story and I think it managed to be memorable enough to be compared with that of Super Metroid, but I was just a little dissapointed that the plot of corruption in the Galactic Federation hinted in Other M and Fusion was left unresolved.

Maybe the hint is that the X Parasite, after taking over some central nervous systems, DOES have a form of viral intelligence. It displays it at the end, as well as in Metroid Fusion when it combines with Samus to take down the Omega Metroid. Just spitballing? Maybe Samus has X and Metroid DNA now, and all the X did was kind of break down her overload powers. In the end, she still had a fusion suit, so it seems like it didn't erase her Metroid DNA, unless the suit is completely aesthetic and has zero physical on her biology. I dunno, but it's interesting to speculate.

It was my first Metroid game and I absolutely loved it. 100% completion. And I'm not big on difficult games. I don't demand easy modes or wtv, but they're generally not my cup of tea. But the difficulty in this game felt absolutely right. Super rewarding. Never felt frustrated, because I got a bit further every time I died on a boss and understood the moves or mechanics better each time. The only thing that seemed unfair for a new player was one of the hidden items that relied on you understanding one mechanic that is never explained to you (but is familiar to veteran players). That being said, I was too busy playing to follow the discourse online, so if there were people trying to gatekeep and complain about the game's popularity, I'm glad I missed it!

there is quite a few mistakes in the story given in. 1:39 Adam Was first introduced in Metroid Fusion as the Computer AI giving Samus missions on the B.S.L station orbiting SR388. 2:40 Silent Robe was only taken by Raven Beak as he had the power/ability to control the Metroids, but after 100% the game the Extra Content (Images) show Raven Beak and Silent Robe examining the E.M.M.I. the scenes of events after 3:07 are the in opposite chronological order. After Raven Beak kills the throa tribe, he send Chozo's to go obtain metroids from SR388. One of the Warriors though, was a X-Parasite disguised as a Mawkin. After Raven Beak Gets all of the X under control he, returns back to his mission of obtaining the metroids, and finds them all gone, Perished by Samus's Hand. 4:16 The "Chozo Warrior" that killed Quiet Robe wasn't a Warrior, but A robot. 5:55, instead of extracting the DNA from samus, Raven Beak decided it was better that he cloned Samus instead, as She was a Metroid "The Ultimate Warrior", C'mon guys it was in the dialogue before the scene that had played in the incorrect explanation. 6:33 Technically it was a voice, but it was Adams voice, the Ships computer AI. If you're gonna put the effort into making a story line for a game thats not the most popular, that great but more effort needs to be put in. Other than the few mistakes this video was pretty nice.

Most Certainly not. Both The Space Pirates and the Federation tried to Clone the Metroids and use them as Bio Weapons. They are extremely powerful and dangerous, now that the X are properly destroyed, there's no need for them. This game is supposed to be the conclusion of that Story arc. It's very fitting for Samus to be the last Metroid, even if they aren't involved with the story anymore because the game's title still makes sense. Even more so because Metroid means "Ultimate Warrior" in Chozo, which Samus definitely is.

i´m confused as well over the ending cutscene with quiet robe x..... i mean in fusion i could totally understand why the sa-x attacked the omega metroid first beside samus was nearly dead, because the metroid as a hole are the bigger threat for the x and like i wrote before samus was nearly dead.... so i don´t understand why the quiet robe x helped samus to regain controll of her powers, but i have an idea of sort...what if the quiet robe x knows that the x race as a hole would die out if not an x can escape the planet and in this short time he only could thought about to transfer his dna to samus (the idea for that could happen because of the original memories of quiet robe) and with her some sort of x...i mean the x want nothing more to reproduce themselves (besides quiet robe x just could have hide himself in samus ship if it wouldn´t detect it in some sort)

SPOILERS ahead for Dread, Fusion and Other M: We found out that Samus became a Metroid because of her Chozo Thoha genes. meaning that the "Metroid vaccine" would only work exclusively on her or the Thoha tribe as most likely any other being injected by it would become a Metroid. This implies that the Federation are capable of making Metroids off other species which may play a role in future Metroid titles. Since Dread's gallery image #10 shows that some ships with potential X are flying around, the federation might be forced to create new kinds of Metroids off different species injected with the vaccine to deal with the situation (which might backfire as well when they begin to evolve and even become resistant to ice as Federation was already working on those on Other M). Dread also suggests that the rate as which the X kill the host varies, maybe depending on how powerful the X is based on the fact that Raven Beak was immediately took over by the X with the amalgamate of the powerful bosses combined while the basic Horntoad one that infected Samus was taking a quite a while. Interesting fact, this is the second time in the series that the most powerful X risks itself going after the most powerful Metroid in the end, these X grew apart from the ones on Fusion yet they seem to repeat those behaviors as part of their strategy.

I like the gameplay for Metroid but I think the storyline is dwindling to the point Nintendo doesn’t know what to do. They killed off Metroid and now X and now they’re focusing on the chozos but the original plot of the game is Metroid aliens. I felt the ending was just a way for them to justify Metroid in the title but it didn’t make a lot of sense to me. I personally thought Metroid were going to come out at the end and save Samus or partake in the story but they didn’t so I’m just confused on why they went this route

Since Metroids were used as weapons all throughout the galaxy I would not be surprised if the pirates or the federation would go after her. Samus would start to distrust everyone and would probably turn in her bounty hunting licenses and leave to live off the raidar from the federation and the pirates. Something I don't understand is the fact that X Parasites don't have a soul. They just copy the memories and innate abilities from their hosts, their actions will only work towards the benefit of other X. So Quiet Robe-X/ QR-X wouldn't help Samus out of good will. Specially since it reactivated the EMMI to eliminate the treat that was Samus Aran for the X. I believe that it looked at Samus Metroid form and used its abilities as a Thoha Chozo to control Metroids and neutralize Samus Metroid capabilities by letting itself be absorbed by Samus. This is done to neutralize or weaken the threat of Samua Aran to X in other parts of the universe.

I'm trying to understand how "X Quiet Robe" saved Samus. Beause at the end he wasn't himself but the X. Somehow, when the X took over his corpse he was able to transfer not only his knowledge and memories to the X but also his consciousness and purpose. This implies that Quiet Robe had a really strong spirit, in pair with the physical prowess of his twin clan. If this is all true then he's badass. But hey... this is just speculation.

i think the way you tell it isnt rly accurate for example i dont think she is cured from the metroid suit i think she got the ability to control it, since they made a big deal out of the QR tribe to be able to control metroids and since she can get abilities from x who have special abilities, you may see that with core X or just getting health and stuff like thast back from general X she also could no longer use aeon abilities while in the metroid suit. i would assume that the metroid suit might become in future games her new hyper mode of sorts. cuz shifting into metroid suit for bosskills and executions makes sense it also would make sense for health regeneration and more melee combat options should they go for it in the next game.

I think when they mean "ending," they mean that the Metroid's and X Parasites no longer pose a threat to the galaxy. Likely means a permanent end to Mother Brain, Ridley, and Kraid as well. So the next game in the series will likely focus on a whole new threat

Highly underwhelming, when put side-by-side it's predecessor's magnificent storytelling... 6/10 game honestly. Too much emphasis on combat, not enough emphasis on story, sound design, world-building, and consistency with the lore. The X, Emmi, and the entire idea of "Dread." really felt like an afterthought to this game. Raven Beak does not feel nearly as much of a threat, as the SA-X did. Nor do the Emmi even come remotely close to evoking the same fear that the SA-X did. The two concepts that made the SA-X so amazing for it's time, in a horror game for Metroid Fusion were split in Dread between the Emmi and Raven Beak. While the Emmi were fun to evade, and beat. That defeated the amazing design the SA-X had. You could not defeat the SA-X at all until the end of the game. Just like how Samus stood no chance against Raven Beak. But funnily enough. If Raven Beak was impersonating Adam the entire time. Why did he even bother sparing Samus? He had the Metroid DNA since the start. Because he had control of the Emmi before she landed on ZDR. And he left her for dead. And he had the Metroid DNA he needed. Honestly, the story is just not set up in a consistent way. The X feel like no threat at all in this game. When their true danger is very clear from Fusion. Just so many things wrong with this game's story honestly. Like the X that mimicked Quiet Robe. Immediately turned the Emmi back on, to try and kill Samus. Yet, at the end he comes back and helps her? They tried to mirror how the final SA-X helped Samus in it's dying moment's in Fusion. But, it really did not capture that feeling at all. Sigh. That is how I feel.

Take off your nostalgia goggles. The SA-X is not that amazing. Unsettling the first time you play but it's super scripted and not even a big threat if it catches you. The storytelling is great and 100% consistent. Raven Beak spared her so he could see her fully realize her Metroid powers. The X parasites are known to put self-preservation above all else. Seeing Metroids as enemies, the X knew it could neutralize the metroid in front of it by fusing into Samus. That's the highly accepted theory that is plenty consistent with the lore. Just because the game doesn't spell it out for you and leaves it somewhat ambiguous does not make it poor storytelling.

It's an objective one. The SA-X was done brilliantly. Of course, playing the game time and time again. The AI is obviously scripted. Not very hard to avoid. Etc. As you mentioned. That does not take anything away from the design. This same argument can be said about the E.M.M.I. there is nothing separating the two in this aspect. Both give chase. And attack. And are lethal. But avoidable. And frankly, easy to avoid at that. But the thing that truly separates the SA-X to the E.M.M.I. is presentation. Especially with introduction. From the start of Dread. You already know the threat on the planet. There's no build-up. No tension. The objective is clear. 6 emmi's were sent. The communication has been cut off. You are going to investigate. First Emmi, the scrapped one. You are dropped into a room. Slide chute. It's right there. A tutorial plays. And the game shows you that the only way to kill an Emmi is by beating a mother brain Easter egg mini boss after evading the Emmi. But, once you do so. That's pretty much it. Emmi goes down. Victory. Easy. Emmi's are also locked to their zones. Yes, you are forced to go through these zones. But the game makes a point of establishing these zones are all setup and easily identifiable with their Emmi doors and map coloration. Honestly, in terms of consistency. Why are these zones even there to begin with lol. Weird setup. Anyways, I will forgo that personal nitpick. But immediately you see the huge design differences between the two. The SA-X is not seen until that elevator scene. Where it blows a massive hole in the wall. Then proceeds to absolutely obliterate the hatch in front of it. Shaking the station above you, while you descend the elevator. Suddenly, that nameless fear Samus was monologuing earlier is clear. Now that, is an introduction. No tutorials. No easy artificial wins. A true threat. Established from the get-go. Your powerlessness is obvious. The Emmi are frankly powerful for no reason. Literally plot armor. "Made of the strongest stuff in the galaxy." Okay... Yet they go down instantly with one shot from the Omega cannon lol. Fun, but not scary. SA-X just takes the cake, no matter how you slice the cake. The fear of being chased by the Emmi was intended to mirror that of the SA-X. But the developers failed to realize, what made the SA-X chases so good was the obvious power gap. And the build up all game to that triumphant point where you can finally damage the SA-X. The emmi's toss this out of the water, because they just go down to the Omega cannon from the start. The power gap of the SA-X was put to Raven Beak. But you only see his power once. You never even see him until much later until you finally face him. Amazing boss fight. Build-up and story could have been better. Honestly, him sparing you makes no sense. He got his Metroid DNA from the start of the game lol. His motives really don't match his actions honestly. Imagine, he had the final Metroid's DNA. Control of the X. Samus was powerless. He had no reason to leave her alive. He even admitted it at the end. He had everything he needed to clone the perfect Metroid, Samus Aran. No nostalgia glasses here. Just cold hard facts. It's honestly not fair to compare Dread's story to Fusion's. Because Dread's goal was not a good story. It's goal was good combat. And it did that very well. But as an obvious side effect, lacked everywhere else. That's just how it be.

The X that took over Quiet Robe helping you in the end does not make sense as of right now since in fusion it states that X do not have a soul and only care about surviving. So why this particular X willingly gets absorbed by a Metroid (Samus) is not consistent. Also the fact that Raven Beak literally has what he wants in the beginning of the game and decides "nah I'll get the Metroid DNA later" is weird. You would think after spending time dealing with the X that had demolished his tribe he would jump at the chance to fulfill his goal. I guess that is just plot armor. Also, I literally laughed when i read the line "EMMI are made of the strongest stuff..." Well that is pretty vague XD. What "stuff"? Does it have a name? Why does the Federation have it? Is there more? Can Samus have some of that stuff to make her suit more durable so I don't die in 2 shots? Mother brain used machine based control methods on the Metroid but the thoha chozo probably included a genetic failsafe to control the Metroid that only started to fail when they begin mutation.
