It's still my headcanon that the MC is actually the 5th fleet master. There are always the leaders of each fleet at the commander's meetings, but the mc is always the 5th fleet's only representative. Since the mc obviously is also the fleer's best hunter and noone is ever suprised about it, it would just make a lot of sense to make him the "boss". In the starting cutscene, everyone tries to get inside the ship, except for the mc, a thing that realistically speaking the fleet master would definitely do.
@maiknh316110 ай бұрын
That's such a good thought I never came across, definitely taking that! Also, that would make the Excitable A-Lister super unaware of professional behaviour, which seems very much in character for him, just approaching the boss as if you were best friends lol
@kimberlyharris98010 ай бұрын
Makes sense to me, why else would the player character be in literally all the meetings
@jahovah297910 ай бұрын
Except the mc doesnt really do any leading or bossing around, best hunter also doesnt mean that theyll make a good leader, were more like the huntsman of the fifth fleet tbh who just stands (or in the case of the hunstman, sit) there in silence in meetings but is the powerhouse when it comes to hunts, the huntsman literally the only mf we see fighting another monster too
@jahovah297910 ай бұрын
Now that i think about it we're the one who gets often bossed around, receiving side quests from everyone even fellow fifth fleeters
@ColetheFlame0110 ай бұрын
@@jahovah2979 to be fair the Excitable A-Lister does do some fighting, but I won't spoil it just in case you somehow haven't experienced it yourself. For how laid back and energetic he is, he's one hell of a trooper and deserving of A-Lister title.

I think the scene where the Tracker, Star and Handler talk about the relationship between the Coral Highlands and the Rotten Vale is the game's most telling moment of how the devs went all in on making the New World's various maps feel like actual ecosystems rather than just places to hunt monsters. To reveal that the effluvium - a literal flesh-eating bacteria, the epitome of death itself - are essentially the beating heart of the wondrous New World, overflowing with life, really puts things in perspective. I'm so glad I decided to play World and Iceborne, and now I understand why World makes up 25% of all of the sales of the entire series.

Monster Hunter World's story is without a doubt it's weakest point and is the part i enjoy the least on my many playthroughs. The way you managed to create a coherent story in which every assignment has a purpose is geniunely impressive lmao. Please continue making these videos, you are incredibly good at enhancing the monster hunter experience.
@Oceaniz10 ай бұрын
Thank you! The craziest part is that I didn't add/invent anything of my own story-wise, everything in this video is either from the game or the book. The game has a really good story, it just didn't manage to communicate it well to the player, which is a shame :/
@beasley_unborn67295 күн бұрын
I feel the same way as you but what's crazy to me is that I just made a new character 2 weeks ago and have already put in 60 hours into the game (about 400 on my first playthrough) But this time around I was planning on skipping the cutscenes. I decided to reroll a char because I like more guided progression and wanted to do that to learn the hunting horn in prep for Wilds. Well I havent used the skip feature even once. I've found that while the story is still the second weakest (my new weakest is getting all the fetch quests lol) the story is still very homey and comfortable. It's crazy, I've only been playing world for a little over a year on and off but this next playthrough is like getting in touch with a life long friend, albeit a little corny friend. I love the monster introduction cutscenes, yes the handler can he annoying but she's also really passionate about making sure she's doing her part in the new world. I love the fact that your hunter starts off as a random fifth Fleet member and works his way up to being the most competent amd reliable. I loved it when you took down Safi and get the cutscenes. I love getting to sleliana for the first time after the initial shock of your gear not meaning much for beotodus (funny enough, this being my second run I love absolutely steamroller every monster so far in my run including viper and barioth! Two monsters that took me repeated tries in my first run) I realize why the ogs love monster hunter. Because even though there isn't expert storytelling, the story is not only just told by the ecology and the monsters, it's being told by you and your skill with the game as you get better. Fingers crossed though. Imo the devs have near perfected the gameplay loop. Aside from the major performance fixes wilds needs, I do hope they focused on the story. They've perfected the gameplay progression, they should work on the actual world building and the story. Not only does monster hunter deserve a good story and world building, it literally has all the framework to make it have one.

Yes. The way I would have done it for EVERY weapon: It starts off as iron or bone but the more you upgrade it eventually the final weapon is it's original design. And they could have easily done this while still having iron or bone parts. The Tobi bow or the Legiana weapons are a Great example of this.

I still think it's 4U. How the Kindred Hunter/Doodle became a Master Hunter, how Gore Magala grew with him, and on their final confrontation, how Shagaru Magala recognized Doodle as the Hunter who defeated it before. Rivals. That's the Kindred Hunter and the Shagaru Magala are.

I first saw Monster Hunter when my highschool classmate brought his PSP. He was playing MH Freedom Unite back then. Grewing up poor, I don't have the means to buy consoles. Looking at the gameplay, I told to myself, I am going to play that game someday. Fast forward, I graduated high school. Started to get my degree but being poor still have me in its arms, I stopped and work till I can buy a cheap phone. I downloaded an emulator and played MHFU and man, the moment the game booted for the first time, I was so happy. I barely sleep and marathoned the game till I hit 200+ hours in. Sadly, my phone broke. Luckily, I managed to buy a mid gaming phone played again. Then I played MHP3rd, also with emulator. Now, I played MHW: Iceborne with almost 400ish hours, got my degree, have one of the highest paying job. Monster Hunter will, and will always be a special part of me. I am looking forward now to MH wilds by next year and hopefully, to play the game on best settings with a mid/high end gaming laptop. See you there, my fellow hunters.

@TheBermudaphil7 ай бұрын
The only issue with this great telling of the story that I have is that it is made abundantly clear you aren’t the Sapphire Star until after you slay Xeno. The Sapphire Star is their guiding light of sorts, and it is in fact Xeno themselves. People can argue if they want to be wrong, but if you take a look at the inside of Xeno’s tail when it is severed it is literally that shape. It makes perfect sense with the story, the Sapphire Stat is what they use to guide them all in this direction, Xeno is drawing everything in and the idea that the Sapphire Star is actually a byproduct of Xeno, like light from the raw energy being given off as it grows, just makes perfect sense. Then you become the Sapphire Star as your nickname because you slayed the Sapphire Star, and guided them through it all essentially, the second of which the commander literally says as he calls you his Sapphire Star the first time only after you kill Xeno. You aren’t the Sapphire Star before that, so it feels really wrong to call the player the Sapphire Star so early in the telling of the story, it is like you’ve been crowned the champion and victor before even knowing of any of the challenges that lie ahead.

I'd love one of these videos for iceborne. The connections between velkhanna and Shara are less clear than Zorah, Nerg, and Xeno.

They should make “monster hunter beginnings” it would be so cool for all the players that came in with World. I feel like it would be a hit

This has same energy of listening bard at tavern, telling great tale about hero and you being in corner being like "Yeap, he did his research. If only he knew THE hero is listening"

Do we think that, if the hunters never repelled Zora Magdaros, it would have gone on to eat the cocoon before it ever hatched, and lived longer with the extra energy?
@sorinsilverheart32009 ай бұрын
I think it would have been vaporized upon Zorah's passing. Even if it hatched, I don't think Xeno would have been able to survive a blast that powerful.

I'd love for a part 2 covering the big dlc (kulve, behemoth, whitcher) and all of Iceborne.
