Felt so good hearing that "There is no way we can manage plastic completely." I have been hearing it from so many people that plastic is a good product but mismanaged. But I wonder about the correct way of managing it. Good initiative. However, I believe that people don't value free things. That is how plastic went so mismanaged. Said that I completely respect the work as I know how difficult it is to convince people to ditch plastic bags

I think that the plastic manufacturers should be paying for the mess that plastics make.

Which basically means that the oil industry should be paying for yet an other mess they got us into.

No, they will only push that cost forward to the consumer. Let the consumer pay directly for save plastic disposal. If the consumer feels the pain of paying extra for the plastic convenience he/she will choose to buy products that are not plastic wrapped and plastic shopping bags. That will force the shops to abandon plastic and the industry to invent and push more non recyclable plastic products on us. In the EU first manufactures advertise on their non-food bottles 100% recycled plastic bottle (detergents for instance). I believe it is the consumer buying attitude that makes the change at corporate level.

I love the campaign, but are the bags that are exchanged just another form of plastic? Are the reusable bags made of bamboo or another form of natural fiber?

Yes, I think it's not fabric but other plastic...

What are the bags they're giving out made of? Looks very similar to polyester bags I've seen..
@haraldmoehser93964 жыл бұрын
You are right, these exchange bags look also made from artificial fibers. Maybe made from recycled one-time use plastic bags? I am using a multiple-use polyester bag now over a year. Saved at least 150 plastic bags that year. Nearly all supermarkets in my EU country stopped selling one-time use plastic bags. Free plastic bags are long time history. Living without plastic bags is possible, but it is a major change of consumer attitude. Next goal is the ban of one-time use beverage bottles.

Manufacturers who use non-recyclable containers for their products should be pressured by consumers to use materials that can be recycled. And the companies that make the containers should be required to used recycled materials in the containers they make. I called the company that produces my favorite moisturizer and told the that the packaging was misleading because the box was oversized for the bottle. And that the bottle was too fancy and couldn't by recycled. In fact most of their products were sold this way. They have a responsibility to the world to make better marketing decisions. Nothing changed, but it would if they received thousands of calls. I think we as consumers should demand more from the various levels of marketing. It's like going to the butcher to buy hamburger wrapped in paper, rather than buying the packages on Styrofoam trays wrapped in clear plastic. You make a choice to maybe pay a little extra,

We are conducting a local campaign to require that people pay for bags (as a plastic bag ban has been pre-empted in our state). I think this clip will be a strong addition to information we share.

It's best to not offer them as an option. Recycled paper bags and reusable ones are much better so you should invest in those instead.

Washington State just banded single use plastic bags for grocery bagging and are now having everyone pay for the bags. I was so excited when this happened, to later realize that the re-usable bags are just very thick plastic bags now and im finding those left all over the place just as much. Sadly the bags are only thicker with plastic and bought way to cheap to notice a difference at check out.

Companies have always passed costs onto consumers. We can change this by returning to glass and by funding research into alternatives and financing entrepeners in start up manufacturers.

Went to Cairo in 2009, I was disgusted with the dredged plastic piled meters high from the ditches. ..eye opening...

at least they were addressing the issue I suppose, and it made it more noticeable so people are aware of the huge problems plastics create.
@cherielektra6 жыл бұрын
I also think the would have flooded so they had to dredge. Truly addressing the issue would to have citywide recycling and for me to NOT see one of the greatest landmarks in the world ruined by refuse.

The music is TOO LOUD, especially in the opening intro. In a documentary we need to hear the narration. This is a mistake made by many documentary makers. Use as your example the great work of Michael Moore and let us hear the words by toning the music down or get rid of it altogether. I hope you will correct this for the final version.

This project is amazing but i don't have much hope considering how bad consumerism is and is spreading to developing countries like China and India. Our environment will just be a plastic wasteland until companies start using biodegradable options.
@olivialim75416 жыл бұрын
even if we were to have a huge societal change that emphasizes biodegradable and reusable items today, the plastic wasteland will remain a plastic wasteland because the material simply doesn't break down.
@mariannafox16754 жыл бұрын
Companies should be responsible for what they produce, especially PLASTIC. It is virtually impossible to be plastic free. People should not have to choose between plastic and organic materials. There should be no plastic period.

You have to use a cloth bag something like 10,000 times to make up for the extra energy and water used in making it over a plastic bag. You can buy kits to reconvert most plastics into a combustible fuel on the internet. That should be made into an industrial scale operation. Any plastics that cant be reconverted should be burned in plasma gasifiers for energy.
@midsummernight20096 жыл бұрын
Larry Phischman how did you get the figure of 10.000 times please. We make bags out of recycled clothing and left over materials. We are recycling used to make the bags. And i will have mine until the day i die. I am planning on it anyways. I have no need to make combustable fuel but thanks for the advice✌️🌈
