I am related to St Maximilian Kolbe family through my Fathers side. My Grandfather Ernst Kurt Kolbe (Kolby) changed the spelling of name to Kolby in the Early 1900's in the USA. He lived on the German / Polish border. My cousins name is Maximilian Kolbe. My family traced the roots to his Parents. Pretty cool!

St. Max is one of my favorite saints, I think of total bravery when I see his picture, he was truly a saint. Do you think that you guys could make a video on Padre Pio?

The married man was a sergeant of Polish Army during WW2. Franciszek Gajowniczek was his full name. As a Pole he was cradle Catholic i think. St.Kolbe's sacrifice made his faith stronger. He was prisoner of Auschwitz-Birkenau death camp since 08.09.1940 till 25.10.1944. After 25-th Octomber 1940 he was send to Sachsenhausen camp. He has survived WW2. Americans made him free man finally in 1945. He died in 1995 in Poland as 94 years old man !

God bless you! I hope & pray you discern your vocation in life & I'll pray for you! Stevie Wonder can see we need good priests today & locally, God is answering this call,with a new Catholic High School being built & several deacons studying for the priesthood.. Kolbe, Edith Stein, Sr. Faustina Kowalska & John Paul II are the true heros of the 20th century. May God guide your path!

yeah english wikipedia-i read more about him not only on wikipedia and in his native language;) and trust me that he was normal person and he did it not because he was chosen(saw virgin maria etc etc)it was normal reaction of normal person-human reaction and that's why i repect him ....chosen heroes always have easier so that's why people create and create legend,live of christian fantasty and don't see that facts are greater than "saw virgin maria" stories.....
@katon4415 жыл бұрын
LOL please do not create legend like this "its told that max saw the virgin mary as a boy and he chose to be a martyr then"....he was normal guy who was scared and didn't know his future....so when you create myth and legend....you decrease his sacrife...it's nothing special to be hero when you know that you will be.....you see i never forget about Maksymilian Kolbe not because he was some hero who saw the virgin mary blablabla but because he gave his life as normal guy for another person....

We need to see this kind of courage here in America, more than we do. Sacrifice is right. There's way too little sacrifice in our 'comfy climes.' There's a war raging on the unborn, a legal war since 1973, with 1/3 of my son's generation, GONE. Each womb is now a potential killing field. The holocaust of millions continues. God rest this Saint's brave, loving soul. God bless all who fight to save the unborn souls. St Maximilian, pray for us!

Do not ever forget that Maimillian Kolbe was a German ethnic in Poland, unlike the PAPAL kNIGHT Nazi Franz von Papen,Fr. Maximilan did not favour the Nazis, in some ways he was like the German priest Fr. Franz Jagstetter who also gave his life a month before Germany surrendered in May, 1945. Pay equal tribute to all those who fought Nazism.

Saint Maximilian! You have proved that Love is greater than anything else. Indeed, there is no greater love than this when one gives his own life to his friends. Now you dwell in the Light of Immaculate Heart of Mary, whom you so much loved. Pray for us, dear witness of Christ in the stormy nights of 20th century

Dear Bwkjam. Since you find an inspiration in sints then I will post this statement of one of the great ones here - At her trial, St. Joan of Arc replied, "About Jesus Christ and the Church, I simply know they are just one thing and we shouldn't complicate the matter."

thank god for 21st century technology, otherwise i wouldnt have realised this Saint's great sacrifice....I only hope to be as brave as him one day....and step forward, to help the weak, true courage and love for humanity...there is good....and evil...

+Chrislybear The Beast St. Maximilian Kolbe was wrong for telling anyone to turn the other cheek when the Nazis were doing wrongs against innocent people, and not to use violence against the Nazis. St. Maximilian Kolbe was trash in the name of Sir Winston Churchill. Now Sir Winston Churchill was right for telling anyone not to turn the other cheek when the Nazis were doing wrongs against innocent people, and to use violence against the Nazis, which says Sir Winston Churchill saved real lives, where St. Maximilian Kolbe did not. I proudly claim that Sir Winston Churchill was far greater than St. Maximilian Kolbe, for not being like a martyr.
@bradleesargent8 жыл бұрын
+George Arnold It is never the place of a Roman Catholic priest engaged in his priestly office to take up arms...Saint Maximillian Kolbe had been captured as Jew because of his heritage and was paying a price for his offering himself in exchange for another innocent man with a family who had been condemned to death. John 15:13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one's life for one's friends.
@rogerhackler2238 жыл бұрын
bradlee sargent Sir Winston Churchill was a far greater friend than Maximillian Kolbe, because he did use violence to save the lives of innocent people. Yes I will openly say that I don't care about John 15:13, because that did not do anything at all. Make no mistake about this one Sir Winston Churchill was all for killing that Nazi filth. I right on board with Mr. Churchill, because he was out to stop genocide. I cannot be against great leaders, and yes I will tell you that Sir Winston Churchill was someone who saved more people than any other man before him. I will talk about Sir Winston Churchill as though he was a Saint for all of what he did as the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom during World War II, and then when he returned to power in 1950. Now with his return to power he then proved that he would save over 1,000,000,000 people worldwide, and that is too great to underestimate fact! There is so much that I have to say about Winston Churchill, and I do not have anything bad to say about Churchill!
