The upcoming expansion 'Shadowlands' will dive deeper into the afterlife of Warcraft so what better reason then to venture into Northrend where the Lich King has an icy grip on the land. It's in the howling fjord where a lot of the original lore for val'kyr and the shadowlands comes from so... I hope you'll enjoy ^_^

Yeah, pretty much. It also takes from other cultures as well. Trolls and their Loa came from real life Voodoo, the night elves and Elune from traditional Wicca/paganism, humans and the Holy Light from christianity...

@@brunom7162 Yeah I love the fact that there isn't one direct influence but many. Some stuff with the Titans is Norse, some is Greek and Roman, even some Egyptian. Than a lot of things from fiction like Lovecraft and Forgotten Realms. It's really awesome how diverse it is.

@Eduardo N Hehe, I wouldn't lump "paganism" into a single religion together with Wicca though, since it means literally every religion that has more than one god - including Norse, Greek, Egyptian and Roman mythology.

Especially the people killed during burning crusade. They get invaded and killed, watch their allies be murdered and their leader defeated and jailed, all of the work they did to battle the legion. Then years later guys show up in the afterlife after letting the legion almost destroy Azeroth and fucking up the barrier between shadowlands lmao

As far as we know, it goes back as far as the end of WorLK. After killing Arthas, she had nothing left to live for, so she kills herself, ends up in oblivion, meets the Jailer, val’kyr pull her back, chess begins

Interesting, King Ymrion's wife, Angerboda, is a reference to the jötun Angrboða, who is Fenrir's mother and (maybe) also the mother of Hel (inspiration for Helya) and Jörmundgandr, AKA Loki's children in norse mythology. Guess they gotta mix up the mythology somewhat.

It's really nice to see these videos. As a person who doesn't care much for dungeons and instances (or playing with other people), I feel like I miss out on a lot of the deeper lore. Doesn't help when leveling is so fast that you don't have time to finish anything before moving on. I spent the levels from 60 to 80 just beating the Fjord, and then off to Pandaria I guess. What was it for? What happened? I have no idea. Well, I do now. So thanks!

I'd love to see the Taunka/Tuskarr stories. That, and I really want you to get that first glimpse from the ship sailing into the Fjord for the first time. It's still one of my favorite moments in WoW of all time. And I'm a Hordie lol. That, and I'd like you to get some clips of that bomb-ass soundtrack! I'll usually fly out to Howling Fjord/Grizzly hills and just AFK to just listen to the music and ambience.

Yeah, I agree, I'd definitely suggest stuff like the undead starting zone(as you mentioned), the night elves' starting zone and any zones that are likely to be changed in the next expansion/updates I'd definitely want to do the Death Knight intro once more in the chance it gets completely revamped

@Kyle Jenkins Those Val'kyr were created by Arthas (inspired by Vrykul legends) and forcibly bound to his will. Clearly they realized they didn't enjoy servitude to the Lich King once they were "released" and tried to escape from Bolvar. They have no common ground with the real Val'kyr created by Odin, though it seems Shadowlands might try to retcon that...

Val'kyr* It's indeed Odyn, but he did actually make the first val'kyr; Helya. Maybe it'll be retconned that he got inspiration from the Shadowlands, but that doesn't change the fact. His original val'kyr are the ones acting as Spirit Healers on Azeroth now.
