Moore came to England, with Norman invasion/conquest in 1066, with the Norman name of De la Mare, and they originated from Norway. And most likely went to Ireland with the Anglo/ Norman invasion in the 12th century

This video does not give any details of the origins of the Irish/ Gaelic O’Mores, who were leaders of the 7th Septs (tribes) of Laois. I found the whole documentary very lowbrow & highly uninformative, there are many people of irish descent bearing the name Moore & many who did amazing things in the world. I cannot see a list of actors & musicians as the most important on this list. Whoever made this documentary should do their research & go below the surface excellent research has been done on this distinguished name.

@@bcole1240 The moors invaded southern parts of Spain. They only occupied areas of Spain for 800 years. It was a LONG drawn out conflict. The Moors from North Africa were a nuisance. Until the pope helped launch a crusade against the Moors. Frankish leader Charles Martel, a Christian, defeated a large army of Moors, halting the Muslim advance into Western Europe. Adb Rahman, the Muslim governor of Cordoba, was killed in the fighting, and the Moors retreated from Gaul, never to return in such force. They never made it any further. The name Moore derives from the English and Gaelic languages. Moore in Scotland was defined as land that is neither forested nor under cultivation. In a wider ecological sense, it consists of an uncultivated highland tract characterized by high rainfall. Had nothing to do with north Africans. You're reading "moor" as revisioned in the English speaking language. Like "Jesus", his real name was not Jesus nor was it pronounced Je-sus. It was Yeshua.

is like the propaganda made that Moore is an Irish surname, but in fact it is not! Moore is an English surname and is actually a family name of middle English origin. Irish actually has its own original name or variation like the original O'Mordha, then later changed the surname to English "Moore" (Anglicized), so it's really not real, it's actually just imitating! from English surname.
