My schedule's full for the rest of the year, and next year is looking to be jam packed as well: there's the Blasphemous sequel; the full release of Darkest Dungeon 2; and the developers of Dead Cells just said 2023 is going to be the biggest year for the game since launch, so there'll be a lot to cover, plus there's other games that I'm interested in that I want to cover too. Hopefully I'll get to it, but we'll see what happens! Thanks for the request! And thanks so much for watching! :)

Tbf it is one of the easiest ways to make a world that feels like it's actively hostile and in the middle of decay. Not only does a plague kill, it is very hard to stop without research (depending on setting it could perhaps even be unstoppable). It also makes designing enemies easier, because many of them can just be "animal but sick" without feeling out of place, but also not just being just a literal animal. It is also something deeply familiar to us. Everyone gets sick, and especially since the rona, people have become more afraid of diseases. The Miracle in Blasphemous can make the world feel just as bad as a plague, but it is ultimately removed from our normal lives. A plague is something that everyone has been told about, we know it is a real threat, and we know how hard it can be defeat without taking action quickly.

It is a shame we can't have both gods survive or heck even die. Either we have to kill Drelium to deliver retribution for his actions but the Tarnishing remains and Juxia may make things worse due to being infected by the Tarnishing, or kill Juxia to save the world from the Tarnishing, and Drelium kinda gets away scott free (thought he does try to atone for it). We will see what the future holds, and if there could be a third and maybe even fourth route added in DLC. Regardless that moment at the end with your son is very heartwarming, kudos.

Drelium doesn't seem like a particularly bad guy. Granted I'm only 14 minutes in here, and I haven't played the game, but from what I can tell he barely played a role in bringing about the Tarnishing, and it was accidental at that. *Then* he felt incredibly guilty - so guilty, in fact, he stepped away from his duties as king and placed someone he knew he could trust in his place. Out of the two, I'd say he's probably the better.

@KazumiKiguma Жыл бұрын
Of course, it's just unfortunate that it became something that spiraled out of control. We could compare the tarnishing to something like the atomic bomb in that sense, it was used to hopefully scare an end out of a war, and it worked in part of it, but the consequences of that became much more dire than they expected. It's not a perfect 1:1 comparison but it's similar enough, I think.
@TheFabledDavid Жыл бұрын
As far as the video shows... it was unclear who started the war. And even if we assume 100% that juxtia started it for unjust reasons, draeleium's followers still unleashed a destructive plague that completely massacred thousands if not millions of people and potentially would have doomed the world. That's a lot of wrong right there.
@paledrake5 ай бұрын
That isn't stated anywhere in the lore as far as I know. If anything it looks like Drelium prepared for war by making war machines and a redsoul, making them the initial aggressor.

There's a game called Fear and Hunger, a dungeon crawler about a traveller who, under varying circumstances, ends up in a castle, which eventually leads down to a series of routes you can take in order to complete the character's quest. The character design is grotesque, which is especially seen in some enemies (you'll get what i mean once you encounter them) and the difficulty is, well, the game is very unforgiving, a single mistake can ruin your whole playthrough. It would be interesting to see your take on this game, considering it has a very macabre plot. Although not many have heard of it, i'm sure those who did will appreciate your work.

Honestly the kingdom of Drelium is quite awful from what we can see. Their last bastion of civilization is a city filled with bloodthirsty nobles going around murdering anything they come across. Right next to the capital is a graveyard filled with a death cult, a tower where a mad sorcerer resides and lastly an infected garden with a demented queen. I'm not sure how the war started, but Apathia betraying Juxtia because of a few potential war crimes doesn't really seem justified when Drelium itself is an absolutely immortal shithole of a place. Also considering Drelium himself created a blood-thirsty redsoul long ago while the country itself developed countless war machines... it really seems like they were planning this war all along, making me believe that they started the bloody conflict. The eggshell ending doesn't show us anything, the credits just roll the second you defeat the final boss. All we know is that the Tarnishing allegedly disappeared. Killing Drelium however shows us how Juxtia and it's people recover and how the tarnishing at least gets contained properly. While revenge isn't a good motive, I don't think it's just to let Drelium get away with his wrong-doings without any meaningful consequences. It's even worse considering that the main perpetrators, Drelium and Apathia, are completely except from punishment with Apathia even being promoted when she was the key for the portal that caused the Tarnishing's existence. The absolute hypocrisy of Apathia is just wild. "War crimes? Fuck this kingdom. A death plague that'll eventually kill everyone? But, but it was a mistake! They just wanted to create a super weapon to kill all the Juxtians, not the Dreliums too!" Honestly the only thing that makes the default ending seem bad is the fact that Juxtia just puts the main character to sleep out of fear, which honestly is justified with how the previous redsoul ended up mentally.

I've only watched like 5 minutes of a playthrough, but it looks really interesting. Seems like a lot of people like it though! If I ever get time, I'll give it a shot! Thanks for the request! I appreciate it! And thanks for watching!
