Since I was a boy I have always been fascinated by the Titanic. I had the privilege to meet a survivor at a special Titanic Historical Society event when I was 10 years old... on the 75th anniversary of the sinking!!! This movie is a recreation of “some” of the events and details that happened told through toys and models. Given how I shot this video - one handed while controlling the Titanic with the other hand I could not recreate every detail of this disaster, please understand I did try my best with what I had to work with but this is not exact...This movie is dedicated to all the lives affected by this tragedy and by no means is meant to be disrespectful in anyway. I tried to make this as accurate as I could but please understand I do not have a budget so I used what I had available to me to make this film - so any ship represented other than Titanic will only “resemble” their true counterparts in this story. Sound effects used are meant to “resemble” sounds that happened - they will not be exact... With that said I hope you can use your imagination and enjoy!!! All music on this film was provided by the iMovie app: “Waves” by Founder, “Falls” by Keith Kenniff, “The Dark” by Patrick Warren, “Image Enhancementalist” and “Hope” by Keith Kenniff. Thank you to them for making their music available through the app! And thank you all for watching!!
***Please note that a few photos used as Titanic in this film are Olympic, (0:29 has been identified as both Titanic and Olympic - both online and by viewers... & 0:36 is RMS Olympic but used as Titanic in this video because there are no known photos of Titanic’s propellers) just like the news papers in 1912, The White Star Line PR dept., and even some documentaries today, use Olympic photos... Olympic photos are used in place of Titanic photos where Titanic photos do not exist. Many parts of Titanic where never photographed - White Star used Olympic for almost all publicity photos for the Olympic Class to include Titanic as Olympic was launched and completed before Titanic - (especially concerning the interior) no one ever thought Titanic would sink - so sadly not to many photos were taken at the start! - so they did not take as many photos of Titanic as she was the second of the trio to be built - Also, please note that some photos of Titanic actually look identical to Olympic, as for a time Titanic looked just like Olympic until they closed the forward A deck (which is the most obvious difference) I did my best to use as many Titanic photos as possible. If I got fooled somewhere and used the wrong photo forgive me, the point is Titanic looked like that whether it was Olympic or not and that is what I was trying to illustrate, I am just trying to give you a sense through the photos and toys -what seeing Titanic in person may have been like :-)
***The Carpathia in this video is a model of the Mauretania - I did not have a Carpathia model to use so I picked another CUNARD line ship and used selective shots to try and make it resemble Carpathia for the purposes of this film.
*** please note during the iceberg collision scene I used a school bell sound effect (It is what I had at the time) but during the actual collision it would have been 3 rings on the mast’s bell.
Thank you all for watching and all of your feedback - I enjoy your positive comments, constructive criticism and debate - we are all Titanic fans here :-) You all help keep this tragic and important story alive! Thank you for interest in Titanic, your support and time spent watching my video :-)

Maybe someday - if they ever reissue it as a retail item in stores - yes! - If it remains only as an ebay item - hard to say but it will likely stay expensive unless people stop paying what the sellers are asking, then the asking prices in time could drop...

“The ship of dreams” I could be wrong but I am thinking is a more modern description of Titanic, I am not sure if she was called that back in 1912, but certainly by the 1997 movie she was, and that title kind of grew from that point (I think)... but at the time of her voyage she was certainly considered to be the largest and most elegant ship afloat, yes bigger better ships were built soon after, but I would say she still is a ship of dreams, since we in 2020, are still talking about it right now here on KZbin :-)

Cool film and also nice you were able to meet an survivor, did you ever asked him/her questions about how the incident happened? Also here a few things to improve your Titanic knowledge, I'm gonna share some things I know and learned about, but they could be wrong, idk: - Titanic at night wasn't how the movie depicts (the movie depicts the Titanic's lights to bright the whole ship and everything around), in fact the lights of the real Titanic only brighted the places it was put to bright, and when the lights went out, the ship was barely visible, it was a black silhouette reflecting from the night's stars; also the actual night was so dark you weren't able to see any other lifeboats or the people in your lifeboat correctly if you were a little far from the Titanic (let's say 2 or 3 quilometers far, idk), even though the night had stars. - While the ship was sinking, it developed a 10 degree starboard list, but when the water started to getting close to submerge the bow, the ship developed a 10 degree port list, probably due to flooding reasons, and it kept that list until the ship broke in half, and according to a few survivors the ship capsized to port and started to right itself while sinking, but a few others say it wasn't with any list after the breakup, just a little unbalanced and then it started to sink, so we don't know exactly what happened after the breakup if we talking about the list. - The ship's funnels fell off, you should probably know that, I think only the 1st and 2nd funnels fell to starboard, the rest was to port; so the 1st funnel fell due to it's area below him being crushed, the 2nd funnel fell due to an explosion inside it and it caused a huge black smoke after, the 3rd funnel fell due to the breakup being close to it's area, making it unstable and fall, and the 4th funnel fell probably due to being unstable when the stern rose almost vertical into the air or maybe the same reason as the 1st funnel. - The Titanic broke up around the 3rd funnel, the exact location is unknown (just don't believe the V-Break, it is against the laws of physics), many survivors say in the middle, which would be the 2nd and 3rd funnel area, and a few say between the 3rd and 4th funnel, but the exact location is unknown, probably a twice break-up happened, but it's just a theory; also it was a clean break, survivors report saying the stern's silhouette settled back into the water and the rest of the ship was missing, so it led them to the idea it broke up. - The ship took 2 hours and 40 minutes to sink after the colision with the iceberg, only by 2:00 AM that the water came to the boat deck, and then the ship started to sink a lot faster, the lights out and breakup probably happened around 2:17 or 2:18 AM, and the final plunge of the stern occurred at 2:20 AM; the Carpathia only rescued the survivors around 4 AM or something. - The last song played on Titanic is probably Autumn or Nearer my God to Thee, but if it was Nearer my God to Thee, it was the Propior Deo version definitely, I forgot why, but it was definitely that version.

Hello, I met the Frank Aks when I was 10 years old. He came to Philadelphia for a book signing event for “Titanic Triumph & Tragedy” hosted by the Titanic Historical Society, at the Philadelphia Maritime Museum. He was a baby when he was on board, I did talk to him for a brief moment and he told me that someone took him from his mother’s arms and tossed him overboard and he landed in a descending lifeboat! It was an amazing story that I have never forgotten! Your comment/post is very impressive with its detail And facts and I agree with you :-) I am of the belief that a cold water Mirage and light refraction played a significant part in the disaster (hiding the iceberg from the lookouts and making Californian seem closer than she actually was) - Tim Maltin makes a compelling case about this but as this theory is newer there has not been any movies that included this yet but plenty of documentaries!
@HugoGHA
@HugoGHA 4 жыл бұрын
@@ourdogzippy cool story of Frank in fact, it must have been terrifying to him, and the sounds the ship made when sinking, like survivors say they always heard creepy sounds coming out of the ship, metal creaking, people screaming in terror and the barely audible songs the musicians played, then they also describe the sound of the breakup (if I remember correctly) as a sudden sound of metal cracking and explosion and then an loud earraping noise when the stern settled back; most the most terrifying sound was after the sinking, for 15 or 30 minutes, people screaming for help in the freezing -2°C water and then a horrible silence, like nothing, and freezed bodies all around. I, myself, am not a professional about the Titanic topic, I just research and find it interesting; also did you know they are making a Titanic II, an actual ship, I have a bad feeling about this, I think when they remake the original voyage, another iceberg will appear and it will be same thing, but worse, I mean, it seems like Olympic class liners are very cursed, 2 of them sank (RMS/SS Titanic and HMHS Britannic) and 1 almost sank and in the end was destroyed by White Star Line (RMS Olympic), and as the Titanic II is a "descendant" of the original, something bad is probably happening. Anyways uh you got a new sub.
@HugoGHA
@HugoGHA 4 жыл бұрын
Also here is a video demonstrating Titanic's final plunge by professionals: kzbin.info/www/bejne/e4OlYaSkja6qrKM The only thing wrong here is the stern's final plunge after the breakup, they decided to take Charles Joughin (the Titanic's baker) somehow, idk why, he was pretty drunk after all, Charles says on "one of his testimonies" that the stern capsized to port and sank at the same position. But in a earlier video of these guys, a 2hrs40min video which is Real-Time and Accurate Titanic sinking, the final plunge was correct. I'll give the link for this one too: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qKScqGiYnNl9eZo Also the videos are brightened for better viewing, I'll give the link of another video of them showing real lighting: kzbin.info/www/bejne/jaOwpoCjlsaIsLc

0:36 that is really Olympic Titanic’s middle propeller had three blades instead of four then some time after titanic sank they put three blades on Olympic’s middle blade because titanic couldn’t finish the test white star line did on the ships
@ourdogzippy
@ourdogzippy 4 жыл бұрын
Good catch - yes Olympic class steamships do look close to the same in many ways but can have subtle differences, some rarely seen... unfortunately there are know known pics of Titanic’s propellers in dry dock... many do believe Titanic had the three blade on the turbine - recent research in Harland and Wolf documents does indicate this - But I had to use an Olympic photo since I wanted to show the sheer size of Titanic’s propellers for dramatic effect - they are essentially the same but you did catch the difference- kudos!!! White Star as well as the papers of the day passed Olympic pics off for Titanic for so many things! Even today when researching you see it as well... It’s a shame that neither White Star or Harland and Wolf did not take many photos of Titanic, but the first of the class always gets the fanfare... great catch :-)

v-break is very unrealistic when it comes to a sinking Titanic. The v-break just doesn't make sense and I don't know why people still defend it. But anyway this was a very nice video. I liked that the RC Titanic included lights.

@ourdogzippy
@ourdogzippy 4 жыл бұрын
Hi - it’s actually not a Carpathia model - It’s a Mauretania model - I just filmed it in a way to make it look like Carpathia for the video. I don’t know of any model kits presently out there of the Carpathia. You would think a company would make one! You can get a pretty nice hand painted and prebuilt model of it from Titanic Honor & Glory’s website :-)

They do make some great custom 3D printed models - I may buy their PC game when it is completed but I think the majority of their models are 1/1000 scale? If so, the 1/1000 scale models they make would not work in my films just because I would need a larger size to adapt - (I have to be able to get inside to balance for floating and potentially power etc) - Their models - from what I have seen online are absolutely incredible and the way they pay attention to detail with everything they produce - those models are and will be Fantastic! I would love to get one someday! Especially of the Carpathia! Titanic Honor and Glory also have a great website and make great youtube content for sure!

@ourdogzippy
@ourdogzippy 4 жыл бұрын
Hi yes, there are a few things I could have done better on this video... a few viewers have said the same thing but in this scale of RC, and since I shot this in real time, that would look like I was turning into the iceberg, plus I was kind of limited with what I could do as I controlled Titanic with one hand and filmed with the other - all at the same time LOL!!! So, it would have been really hard to swing out the stern and may not have looked right due to the scale even though it would be more historically accurate.... Thank you for watching and your comments, if I ever do something like this again I will try and incorporate that part of the story perhaps by slowing the video down to compensate for the scale : -)

Hi - The radio control Titanic can be found online on many websites prices vary but it runs about $150 -$200, I would start at Amazon.com and try a google search to see who else presently has it. Sometimes you can fid a great deal on it... The submersible model that I used for the sinking part of the film is a vintage toy and typically can only be found on ebay, or at a thrift store, or maybe a yard sale... it ranges from hundreds to even a thousand dollars depending on condition...

Good point - but I did not really forget that, it’s just not something I could do without altering my vintage submersible model further - and I did not want to do that.
