One of the greatest movie speeches ever, and so damn true about marriage. "Let's face it, anybody is going to have traits than get on your nerves, but why shouldn't it be YOUR annoying traits?"

it always makes me cry. she says everything most of the people don't usually have the guts to say so they usually make the worst mistake of their life not saying anything in the crucial moment. this will always be my favorite movie

I love this movie. I have the whole ending speech in a frame on my wall. Perfect description of the complex nature of relationships. And yes, I know it's a movie.

No it's not a movie it's life. I've been married now 37 years and I can relate. I worry so much that my relationship that I have built my life upon could collapse as easily as this.

Gosh.... No wonder pride is one of the seven deadly sins.... If pride didn´t stop people from saying each other what they really feel, there would be a lot more of happy marriages. I just caught this movie yesterday at HBO, this percise scene.... and yes, it made me cry like I haven´t done in years..... All I can think of is that God has a plan for us all, and I pray to Him to understand his plan on my life.

This is a good movie and shows the true reality of relationships/marriage. Love is not easy and considering the fact you are spending time with someone every day. Of course you will get annoyed with some of their traits. However, if the good outweighs the bad.Why not stay together? Not sure why it got poor ratings.

She can shed tears for scenes. She did it in Frankie and Johnny. I don’t think it would’ve worked in this scene. It would’ve been too disruptive bc it will affect her voice and face too much.

Ordinarily, this would be a “spoiler” … but I cannot envision anyone clicking on the _ending_ without having already seen the movie (but, you never know) …. Anyhow, the only thing that kept me from hitting the “kill button” on this rental was the irresistible presence of Michelle Pfeiffer. That said-save for a few “highs”-there was enough substance to keep me hanging on ‘til the end…which, in more ways than one, was the *best* few minutes of the movie. One such “high point” was the Italian restaurant scene, where the fragile couple were barged in upon, and at the mercy of, a migraine-level-boring couple whom they had met somewhere in their tour of Florence. Amid the other couple’s self-absorbed effusiveness, they were oblivious to the fact that Katie and Ben were privately engaged in game of “Hangman.” As we watched (“over their shoulders”) the progress of the scrap of paper covertly exchanged between Katie and Ben Jordan, the final solution to the pen-and-paper puzzle couldn’t have been _more_ fitting: “I HATE THE KIRBY’S”]

@shawnn75025 жыл бұрын
Exactly right. Let's settle for what we have because it is actually pretty great if you take a moment to appreciate all the little things that it took time to build instead of making the negative things seem greater than they actually are because life isn't exactly everything we'd hope it would be and we aren't exactly everything we'd hope we would be and this is all more difficult than we thought it would be and everything always seems better in someone else's backyard until you are forced to actually live there and realize that all the same damn problems are there too. So, exactly.
