The Story of Yoyo the American Staffy X Sharpei - From Shelter Dog to Adopted

This is Yoyo the American Staffy X Sharpei. He had been moved around several times to various shelters in an effort to find his forever home but was not successful.
When we met him, he was very nervous and not doing so well in a shelter environment. He wasn’t very old at just 9 months old.
He came to the farm for what was supposed to be just one day of fun and a little more chance at adoption. But as many of you probably already know, Yoyo was the start of this whole rescue journey for us. We just couldn’t send him back.
This is Yo-yo’s story so far.
We love Yoyo and we’re very fortunate and grateful to be able to continue to have Yoyo in our life as a part of our farm community and now he is a therapy dog helping other dogs just like he was.

I fell in love with Yo-Yo that first day. I also cried along with Sam when she said she couldn't send him back and I was waiting to hear he was staying and the others were joining him at the farm. All I can say is these dogs started youngin a journey that will pay you back a thousand fold!!

If i didn't live 15,000 km from the farm, I would have adopted Yoyo and Bobby in a heartbeat. Love all the rescue dogs, but especially those two. So happy that they both found forever homes, and that Mr. Yo still gets to come back and hang out with the pack.

Remember before they brought Yo Yo to the farm, they had Jake for a day. Luke drove him back to the shelter at the end of the day and then decided he could not take him into the shelter. He turned around and drove him back to the farm. Don't you just love Luke and Sam!!!

When I first learned that doggie daycare was over I did tear up some. I knew I would miss the dogs we’ve come to love like gillie stealing the hat or Etta jumping in Luke’s arms. But….now I can see that the work you guys do for the rescues are so so important. I understand now that you can devote more time to your own family and better rehab for rescues. It goes beyond a fun day with well socialized groups of dogs. To see the progress and results of the effort is unbelievable, Luke. This is the first time I've admitted on the channel how sad.I was when I heard the news, even though I knew the decision was good for Luke and Sam, their family, and all the dogs who don't have the wonderful pawrents the daycare dogs do. I am still sad that I won't see the Dachshunds....dear little Zeus with his dock diving, Atlas, Bentley with his determination to keep up with the big dogs. And of course, Gilly and Gus, Etta, Koda, Bella, and Buddy....so many dogs I fell in love with! I made a screensaver of Luke and Sam’s “wordless communication “ about what to do with all these dogs, just looking at each other with Yo-yo in the tub gazing up at Sam undoubtedly thinking “You’re selling it!” When Luke says they lack manners and social skills, I think “Oh! You met my grandsons!” Can I send them to the Farm? Yo-yo really hit the lottery. New home, a sister AND daycare. I’m sure he will be coming back regularly as a therapy dog. You can’t make his story up.

Uncle Yoyo what a success story when you look back at the start. From that scared angry little guy who didn't think anyone truly cared. To now being one of those whose heart is so big he has to help with the puppies and other shelter dogs. I remember him jumping in with Faith and Hope when Uncle Luke was trying to win them over. Yoyo jumped in like let me show you what they need, I got this Uncle Luke. He got a wonderful family and big sister Nike. He truly deserved to get a great home. We have to stop and take the time with these poor dogs and see they just want a chance at love and kindness. It is amazing how he transformed. Sam's heart was so broken at the thought of him returning and thank goodness you guys took that step to truly bring out the most wonderful dog that was hiding in that cage. Ben great work on putting this together for your brother and Sam. It does take a village to make the farm work.

Aww, Yo-yo, you special boy! I remember when Luke started driving the bus and when he got to Yo-yo's pick up spot, Nike ran right up to greet him, but not Yo-yo!😅 I loved the story as Luke shared it. Bless Sam's soft heart, she absolutely did the right thing. I always cry along with her when I see that clip. Yoyo was so worth the investment of your time, and how perfect and precious that he was so eager to give back. The clip of him scaling the fence into Hope and Faith's pen should have been in here, but this video pretty much says it all. He's such a special boy, and The Farm saved his life (along with 72 others!). This is such a wonderful, necessary mission you're on. I think having Yo-YO changed the way about the Farm was run from doggy day care to helping shelter dogs, I just love it, all the videos and what you do and what you will achieve in the future, My heart goes out to all of you Luke, Sam, Jason and the kids We have rescued a staffy with multiple issues (our 4th rescue dog) his 4th home and would never surrender him back under any circumstances he has issues, never been socialised but I am working through that, the local doggy park has been a great help as well as a Baskerville muzzle, He does sit, stay, leave, free, I can walk 20 metres with a sit/stay command.He had no idea how to play with toys, he has become very verbal to me but not not my hubby He slept 12 hours plus the day we got him home and was on multiple tablets for depression which he was weaned off in 7 days and his brighter personality came out he knows he is loved. Best game? chasing bubbles!
