The lake happened to be the password to one of their business accounts, so my guess is that's how he knew. But I don't know how he would know the type of boat. My mother actually worked with Ed Shin leading up to his capture. Ed and Chris’s company had made some sort of deal with her place of employment at the time. I believe they met with Chris one time initially before he “started traveling”. The head boss that had agreed to the partnership was getting really impatient and wondering when the hell Chris was going to come back to continue on the work that was promised. Ed kept up the whole story at work too. My mom said Shin was very stoic and off putting. He didn’t say much, but he was stuck up and bougie, and also just kind of a fucking weirdo. Obviously things didn’t kick off until he was caught, but apparently he was actually caught when her old company was trying to expand from the US to Canada. According to her it was her boss and Shin trying to fly into Canada when they were both detained (boss had nothing to do with it, but the cops thought shin was trying to pull a legger). Edit: I guess they detained him on some other charges, but once the boss found out about the murder everyone was terrified that they’d been working with this murderer for so long with zero clue.

@kylereich18843 жыл бұрын
nah no bullet. I agree with the detective from the 20/20 on this murder who basically said that he thinks Ed Shin beat Chris Smith to death with a baseball bat or golf club. Shin had an EXTENSIVE sports memorabilia collection, there was an insane amount of blood splatter in the office, on the walls, the floor, even on the ceiling in the office, etc. The detective basically said that Shin lured smith into the office after he had sent everyone else home/given them the day off, and was basically lying in wait for him, in one of the offices as smith walked down the hallway to shin's office for their "meeting to settle accounts", shin just lunged out at him from behind and started brutally beating him with the bat, following him into the office where he finished him off in there. It was absolutely premeditated and brutal.

I little surprising that no one said "This is definitely not him" or" Call me now!" or ask him some better questions to verify who he is.🤔

I really wish that Mike had addressed just how in the world Ed was able to accurately answer the personal questions that Chris’s father had asked him in the email.

It's so odd his family took so long to realize it wasn't him. Voice is proof of life for most people. Not just information about locations around him growing up. It's ever odder his dad was an ex cop. I suppose denial must be overwhelming. Its just I am 32, and If i don't answer my phone, then don't return the call instantly;y, my parents instantly assume I have died 😅

They knew how he lived and that he liked to travel a lot, so the fact that they we're getting emails from him mentioning spotty or not internet didn't send up any red flags right away.

In the 80's I lived in Northern Va and near where I lived a 5 year old disappeared from a Christmas party. Her name was Melissa Brannon. The case has been solved. I would love for you to do a video on her. She was just as important as Jon Benet or Caley Anthony. Thanks for these videos.

Obviously not as important if I've never heard of em.... Nice try!

I agree. Just because her name wasn't in the news doesn't mean she's any less important.

I found a girl on Bumble who quoted Mike in her profile, "Let's have a goo". I doubt she'll match with me, but I hope she has a wonderful life

If I was his family I would have been suspicious from the minute he said he sold his half of the business to him for 1 million dollars. If he was making 5 to 8 million dollars a year why would it only be worth 1 million?
@carltonbanks54703 жыл бұрын
I think he said 5 to 8 million in revenue. That's different than the present value of the business.

5-8 Million in revenue. That might not even be profitable, revenue is not profit
@umbrellacorporationwuhanfa37313 жыл бұрын
@@madamefeast4824 That's true, however most companies running deficits that aren't eligible for a government bailout usually don't run deficits otherwise they won't be in business long. With that said even if the business had a substantial overhead the first couple of years a 6-8 million dollar revenue stream for a small business is considerable and the profit margin should reflect that in some small way even if it's jus a few 100k. Who sells a business that generates 6-8 million dollars for only 1 million?...
