Matthew's mother says he is one of the "kindest, most compassionate" persons she knows. A man who is kind and compassionate does not betray his wife and mother of his 4 children by committing adultery. I also love how earlier in the video the mother describes Alex say, "she knew he was married; she knew he had 4 children" as if she was the problem. Did not her son know he was married and that he had 4 children and that he was committing adultery?

One thing that was not answered and made me think about: is who she was texting with at the entrance of the apartment building? If Shane lost his phone, could they not subpoena his phone carrier for that information? And if Alex’s phone was locked, same thing, could they not have sent a subpoena to her phone service provider to see phone numbers that she was communicating with? I would thick this information would be out there somewhere.

Exactly. And it was night time, like need to be getting ready for bed with your wife and tucking your kids into bed, time. He drives 3 hours away from his family with a briefcase that has a gun in it to go confront this guy who's supposedly causing his ex mistress issues ... After the bar altercation he goes to his ex mistresses appt with her and is clearly in an argument with her before going to the appt for the last time .. what was she talking about on her phone? Why couldn't a phone tech of sorts break into her phone? What did dude go outside to do or check on and then come back inside, tell Alex something that obviously ticked her off and follow her back upstairs... It all just isn't making sense. And now I want to know more lol I'm sorry to the family who lost a loved one and I know they want to point the finger at someone but why aren't they wanting the story to be clearer also? @@johannab7715 her family are totally deluded. As are her friends. Yeah, she might have been a spitfire when she was a teenager but her being went toxic and her battle with depression- and drugs - took over. Affair with not just a married man but a man with four - FOUR! - young children. And this guy she was supposedly over the moon with who punched him in the bar…and she continues on with him after this incident like it never happened. Honestly, I was disappointed how 48 Hours presented this episode. Not very “investigative” at all but rather propaganda for the deceased and the deceased’s family. Unpopular view perhaps, but I don't believe this was proved beyond reasonable doubt. 1. The prosecution assertion that he fired behind the door (thus no blood splatter on him) means that he would have fired blind and hit her in the side temple with 1 shot. That is far fetched. Nor was it ever stated whether there were flash burns at the wound to indicate whether it was a short or long range discharge. Was there or not? And why no test of the door for blood spatter residue nor evidence of any cleaning agent in the apartment? 2. If her legs were far enough apart, (i.e her left foot was past the door frame), opening it would *not* sweep both legs. 3. Police labs can hack a phone. Saying they couldn't get into the phone and the BF conveniently losing his phone at the same time reeks of evidence suppression. 4. Those with a history of past suicide attempts and substance abuse have a 37% likelihood of trying again according to the National Institute of Health. That's a huge number and increases the burden of proof not lessens it. Can't convict a person if you're 50%-70%--80% "sure." Beyond reasonable doubt is 95%+...and this wasn't.

I was thinking actually that as a right handed person myself, my instinct would be to use my right hand to charge (rack?) the gun (sorry if my terminology isn't correct) and I'd have no problem then pointing it and pulling the trigger with my left. I do think him washing his hands and changing his story with cops though (put the gun in his case and then back on her??) was too odd. That swung to guilty then for me.

that her parents would want someone put into prison because they don't want to think their emotionally unstable daughter might have committed suicide is understandable but terrible. The logic that her body wasn't moved (her legs, her head) when he was trying to save her life doesn't make sense and leaves so much reasonable doubt, as does the idea that a right-handed person wouldn't shoot themselves with their left hand, as if shooting oneself is the same as holding a fork or writing a letter. What for damn sure Matthew is hiding something & lying? Who replaces the gun like that? Way too many questions & reasonable doubt- for starters, he reached around the door to shoot her (blindly, yet perfectly) in the temple & that's why there's no blood splatter? And even though he washed his hands (there's more than one sink in that apartment, & they never mentioned the other one!) He still would've had gsr on his arm & sleeve- he couldn't have washed that off! Also, there was no mention of testing the distance at which the gun was fired from her head or the angle, I feel like those are pretty pertinent pieces of information for determining guilt. And if he was just "feeding her addiction" by refilling her meds, then why did he refill ALL of her meds- including the antidepressants? Then there's the whole door ring thing being underneath her, which has several possibilities. Her violent p$ycho bf could've busted that off beforehand on one of his "not-like-him" nights while fighting with her, it could've been kicked or shuffled around by the cops, paramedics, or even when the ME moved her body! Finally, and this is the one that gets me, the ME couldn't even rule her death one way or the other. It was ruled "undetermined." I don't know what that jury was thinking, but there's just too many questions left unanswered & too many things that don't point conclusively one way or the other!

He was in shorts on the pictures and I doubt he went in shorts to the bar, cause they were wearing wintercoats. So he undressed obviously. It is a mistake from the cops that they did not ask him, why are you in shorts when you are wearing different clothes on the surveillence camera pictures? He is a nurse so he knows how to wash his hands not to find GSR on his hadns and arm, and clothes.

Id like to know how she convinced him to come to town and go drinking while she was on meds. I’d also like to know exactly how he broke down the door and if there was blood on the back of the door as they speculated his position. Was the kitchen sink dry? Did they not bother to test his clothes or arms for GSR? That graphic of her arm/hand position was TERRIBLE. No one heard anything? Did she want him to move in because she needed help with her rent? So many holes in this report. My feeling is both men are not being honest but for very different reasons.
